FYI: The second season of HANNIBAL hit DVD this week. So for anyone interested, there are now ways to see it that are presumably less shitty than they might have been previously.

I have zero problem with it. No college is going to stand for any student standing in the heart of campus and shouting sexually aggressive shit to all passersby in 2014. And add on to that fact that dude shouting the sexually aggressive shit was dubiously let off the hook for possibly being a rapist, and I think it's clear something had to be done for his own good. College may, in part, be about doing dumb shit, but it's also about learning to grow up and act like an adult. Jameis clearly isn't making any progress in that regard, despite engaging in a laundry list of knuckleheaded behavior over the past year and, no doubt, countless "come to Jesus" meetings with his coaches, university administration, family, and everyone else with a vested interest in his athletic endeavors. Dude is just not getting it, and something more drastic needed to be done to get his attention. I commend Jimbo for it. If Kevin Sumlin had done something similar with Johnny last year, he might at least be maybe an 1/8th the turd he is today.

Color me surprised when The Master looked dumb as fuck.

Interestingly enough, Whedon has acknowledged this very thing. In a couple of interviews a year or two ago, he said something to the effect of "It's not a great movie, but it's a great time," basically acknowledging that the film itself has myriad flaws but that it has a good vibe that played really well in the theatre. And I think he's 100% accurate on that. The initial viewieng experience in the theatre is undeniable, but, man, it has gotten worse every time I've seen it subsequently. Whedon deserves a lot of credit for delivering a film that wasn't a total disaster, especially under the constraints Marvel had him under, but it's a clunky film.

Big up to my dude Austin Davis for winning his first NFL start with the Rams. Suffered through a lot of shit with that organization, including getting cut, to get to this point. He may never win another one, but I'm glad he got this moment.

If there was ever any doubt it was all James Franklin, that's over now. Virginia Tech down big to ECU also. No one is worse coming off a big game than VT.

I had planned on repping USM all the way, but since I'm sitting in the old players section, it's probably in my best interests to wear crimson and sit the fuck down to avoid getting my ass whipped by Shaun Alexander. I guess I'm rooting for Southern to be competitive for a quarter before Alabama takes over and dominates. I think that would make me feel good about everybody's day.

I'm going to the Bama/Southern MIss game tomorrow. Pretty excited, even though I know EXACTLY how that shit is going to go down. It was touch and go trying to find reasonable tickets for a bit there, but an ex-player acquaintance came through in the clutch.

As long as the child isn't identifiable, it's not something TMZ can be successfully prosecuted on. But it is sleazy. Worse, I don't think it helps the case against Peterson in the court of public opinion all that much. I can't tell you how many people I've seen say of those pictures, "MAH DIDDY DUN WURS 'AN THAT TA ME." Really? When you were 4, shithead?

YET ANOTHER DC TV SHOW IN THE WORKS: TNT is developing TITANS, a Teen Titans show centered on Dick Grayson. Starfire and Raven are the only other characters specifically attached at this point. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a TNT show, and this is being developed outside of the ARROW/FLASH braintrust, but Dick Grayson is one of the most underutilized great characters, as far as live action goes, so...yay?

And now you have reminded me that that was the album they were promoting when they did the iPod ad 10 years ago. Damn, my ass is old.

I haven't watched the show since it killed Opie, but I ended up watching most of the premiere for lack of anything else to do. And, yeah, I was quickly reminded why I stopped watching. The show has no soul anymore. It's just awful people doing increasingly awful things to other awful people, and not in terribly compelling ways. Even though I've been out on the show for almost 2 whole seasons, I still feel like I saw about the 17,999th and 18,000th drawn out scene of the Sons gruesomely torturing/murdering someone in a case of mistaken identity or because they needed to earn someone's trust to have a meeting or whatever who gives a fuck anymore.

I think that's a fairly apt comparison.

You know, for about the first minute there, I was thinking that looked about 1000% better than it had any right to be. It has kind of a clever, subversive hook. But then it turns into exactly what you'd expect it to be.

Haven't listened to it, but I'm assuming this is them conceding that the album sucks, and now rather than suffering the embarrassment of it tanking conventionally, they can just say, "Hey, it was a gift!". It just reeks of them having spent millions on producing a shit album, realizing it, and finding a corporate partner they could dump it on to recoup costs.

Something else I missed on Saturday: Pat Haden's bizarre tantrum during the USC game. Keep in mind, this guy is on the playoff selection committee. Unreal. Dude should resign that position immediately.

I'll be interested to see y'all's opinion on this as you play through. I don't really do FPS, but this one has me intrigued.
