  1. I feel like Brandon Bridge out of South Alabama is going to be a hot prospect at QB this draft cycle. Huge arm. Not saying it's as big as Jamarcus Russell's, but the ball looks exactly the same coming out of his hand. A flick of the wrist goes like 50 yards.
  2. Here's a theory: www.ign.com/videos/2014/10/23/will-the-black-panther-be-in-avengers-age-of-ultron It is a good theory. We know that Wakanda will favor heavily in this movie and Ultron will most likely have Vibranium armor since Adamantium is part of the X-Men license and Disney doesn't have that back yet, so yeah I can believe that Serkis will play Ulysses Klaw. That's gotta be who it is.
  3. If DC was really bold, they'd continue developing their TV universe, including more topline characters, and then, say around 2020 or so, do a Crisis event where the movie and TV universes collide.
  4. It's good. I find it very easy to get distracted when I'm watching movies at home, even when I really like the movie. This is one of those movies that commands your attention. Despite the fact that it doesn't really have a plot.
  5. They just hit a new series low this week. It'll uptick with the + ratings, as it usually does, but the overall trend has been down, down, down.
  6. "Viper" was probably the most complete episode of GOTHAM yet. Pretty much all the disparate plot threads were either centered on the Viper case or at least intersected with it. Very little was happening in a vacuum, as opposed to most episodes where everything seems to be happening in its own little world. Maybe they're getting closer to figuring this thing out. Penguin can't kill Fish soon enough, though. Her scenes always stop the show dead in its tracks for me. And I kinda hate that Lil Wayne is already some sort of preternatural junior detective. It's been 5 or 6 episodes now, and I have yet to see him display anything resembling a genuine emotional reaction to his situation. The cops-and-crooks aspect of the show might work itself out eventually, but I can't see myself ever getting on board with what they're doing with Bruce.
  7. I feel like the Hot Topic cover of "I've Got No Strings" kinda belabors the point, but Spader sounds like you want Spader to sound as a murderous robot, so...that works.
  8. This is an old trick schools use to mitigate the damage if they get caught. It's considered a lesser offense -and sometimes not even an offense at all - if the extra benefit is available to all students, not just student athletes. That's how Auburn was able to skate on the sociology scandal back in the day. "Yeah, it's a bullshit course, but it was open to everyone! It's not just there to benefit athletes." *crosses fingers behind back*
  9. Morena Baccarin has been cast as Leslie Tompkins on GOTHAM.
  10. I don't think that came as a surprise to anybody on the show.
  11. See, right here, you're basically admitting you know nothing about college football. So I should say that they are a quality team when they have beaten no quality teams?Just because they are in SEC West does not make them a good team. They have no wins in their division and their wins are over teams paid to roll over. This 7-5 team will have how many wins over cupcake programs leaving them with what record? 0-5? 2-5? No, I'm clearly just saying that things like strength of schedule and margin of victory and the way the games actually played out on the field should matter when evaluating the quality of a team. You know, sensible things. If Arkansas was getting blown out 52-0 like they have been the past few years, I wouldn't be making a case for them "just because they are in the SEC West." But they've been right there with nearly all of the high quality competition they've faced, which should lead anyone with eyeballs to suspect that they're a better team than their record indicates. College football is not the NFL. It is not a "you are what your record says you are" league. It's a league of disparity. Therefore, you can't simply judge teams based on a binary system of wins and losses. For instance, Nebraska is 6-1. You probably think they're a pretty good team and substantially better than Arkansas. But look deeper into their record (I'm probably going to offend Assassin now, if he's still hanging around): Nebraska has played all of 2 teams with winning records this year, of which they only beat one - a 4-3 Miami team. Conversely, Arkansas has played 5 teams with winning records, of which they only beat one - 5-2 Northern Illinois. (Not trying to prop up NIU or anything, but it should be noted that since 2010, the Huskies are 51-12 with a trip to a BCS game under their belts, so they're not exactly Jabronie U.) Nebraska has played 4 games against Power 5 opponents, Arkansas has played 5. Nebraska has played 1 ranked team, Arkansas has played 4. So with all this information at our disposal, can we really say that Nebraska is a demonstrably better team than Arkansas? Or would it perhaps be more accurate to say that they're probably pretty close to being at the same level, but one has played a substantially easier schedule than the other? The bottom line is, schedules are not created anywhere close to equal in college football, and your record doesn't always tell the tale of how good a team is. Hell, I could take it a step farther and say that Michigan State has only played 2 teams with winning records this year - Oregon and Nebraska. So Michigan State has one win against a team with a winning record...and it was over a team that only has one win over a team with a winning record. So what do we even really know about Sparty at this point?
  12. See, right here, you're basically admitting you know nothing about college football.
  13. Arkansas' other 4 games were against: Top 5 Auburn, Top 5 Alabama, Top 10 Georgia, and A&M who was ranked until this past weekend (and was Top 10 at the time they played). And they were competitive in all of those games, except this past weekend against Georgia. Went tit-for-tat with Auburn until a long weather delay, took A&M to overtime, and of course came within 1-point of Bama. So because they're not as good as Top 10 teams, they're not a good team? LOL okay.
  14. ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE is kind of hypnotic. Like, basically nothing happens, but you can't look away.
  15. I think you've missed my point. I'm not making excuses for A&M based on their schedule. I'm saying that, just like everybody overreacted to their win over South Carolina, people are now overreacting in the opposite direction based on their hellish schedule the last couple of weeks. They're a good team, just solidly a level or two beneath the last 3 teams they've played, and the fact that they had to play them in such rapid succession - a gauntlet the likes of which on other team in the country has had to play, nor likely will - resulted in them looking much worse than they really are. Of course, the fact that you're lumping Arkansas in with the likes of Lamar and C-USA fodder makes me wonder if you're actually paying attention all that closely to the SEC. I promise you, there's not a defense in the country that would look forward to having to man up agains the Hogs' rushing attack this year. That's a good, albeit one-dimensional, team that's going to end up 7-5 solely because they had the misfortune to play in the most loaded division in college football.
  16. Look, Texas A&M isn't as good as everyone made them out to be, but damn, they just played 3 top 5 teams in consecutive weaks, two of which were on the road. Not many teams in the country are going to come out of that stretch of games looking good. You could tell the Aggs were just mentally and physically whipped from that grind. Once Bama got up big, they were just looking to get to the bye week so they could stop getting their brains beaten in for a damn minute.
  17. Y'all are hilarious trying to convince yourselves the the SEC West isn't that good.
  18. Georgia certainly looks like they're rounding into form, but it hasn't been against great competition. I think when they run into someone who won't let them run all day, they won't look nearly as good. I can't get over how easy the rest of Mississippi State's schedule is. They're basically playing 2 games between now and the championship game: @Bama and @Ole Miss. Very tough games for sure, especially with how dominant Bama has been at home, but that's it. They drew Vandy and Kentucky out of the East this year, and then they have the standard cupcake homecoming game. Interestingly, one of the SEC tiebreakers is combined record of non-divisional opponents. It would be wild if Mississippi State or Ole Miss (Vandy and Tennessee) had their cinderella seasons cut short because they got a crappy draw (which is usually what you WANT, of course) in their cross-divisional schedule.
  19. On the movie front: Jena Malone has dyed her hair flaming red, leading to speculation that she's playing Carrie Kelley in BvS.
  20. Yeah, after I wrote that, I saw a commercial that seems to imply that's going to get addressed in some fashion tonight. But, man, what an absurdly risky plan. I mean, what about the 3 guys he hired to stage the robbery? I don't know how much money they were set to get from the score, but I'm guessing they could've gotten more for turning Penguin over to Falcone instead. Better yet, do the robbery, THEN turn him over. If he picks the wrong 3 guys, he's dead. Maybe they were from out of town...
  21. I don't think Penguin is a great character, but Robin Lord Taylor is easily giving the best performance. I think he's the only actor coming close to hitting the tone that the show is aiming for. But Penguin's plan right now is total nonsense. He knows that the Falcone organization thinks he's dead and will kill him for real if they find out he's alive. And he knows that he's such a distinctive figure that people instantly recognize him as the penguin-looking guy that Falcone had killed. Yet his plan is to return to Gotham and make himself AS CONSPICUOUS AS POSSIBLE, taking a job at a mob-owned restaurant where wiseguys are in and out, literally, all the time? To top it off, he orchestrates a plan to to make himself even MORE VISIBLE by becoming the manager of said restaurant? What?

    2014 NCAAF: Week #8

Well, yeah, on paper it shouldn't be much of a game, but on paper, the Arkansas game shouldn't have come down to a blocked XP either. This team has just been really helter skelter this year. I think the starting C is supposed to be back next week, so that should help, though. Muschamp apparently has the worst taste in OCs imaginable.

    2014 NCAAF: Week #8

I was dumbfounded by the way that Bama/A&M game played out. I've heard of teams playing better at home than on the road, but this is ridiculous. It's like two completely different Alabama teams. Good thing the Mississippi State and Auburn games are at home. They really aren't out of this yet. Of course, they could just as likely go up to Tennessee and lay another egg this coming week.
