  1. Also plenty of lucha guys unmask to re-mask under different gimmicks, so I doubt AAA would care if Cuerno lost a mask he wasn't using in Mexico. Also Muertes mask sucks, he would have just as much mystique with crazy makeup. Also unmaskings are supposed to be a big deal, so the fact that Muertes would be a shock would be the point of unmasking him.
  2. Sure, but a So-Cal Indy guy would certainly take a payoff to lose his mask
  3. There are plenty of guys on this roster with LU only gimmicks. Mil Muertes Prince Puma Son of Havoc Mariachi Loco Killshot King Cuerno and you could certainly just create a character for the sole purpose of building to a mask match. I know Super Fly lost his mask in Mexico, and if they wanted to get it off of him in LU too, I can think of 50 different scenarios better then the one they used. Hell the announcers spent the entire match complaining about how Cueto devalued the meaning of the stipulation, shouldn't they have tried to establish that meaning before trying to devalue it?
  4. I really hated the mask v. mask match, I dig this promotion, but that was idiotic booking. They only have one chance to debut that stipulation, and they waste it on a thrown together 6 minute match in the middle of a show. Can you imagine how great a well built mask match between Puma and Muertes would be, or even with a good build you could make a midcard Son of Havoc v. Marachi Loco a big deal, but now they have condition their audience to view mask matches as not meaning much. I am going to write about this more in my SC review of this show, but they seem to have a giant booking blind spot with Sexy Star, almost all the missteps in this fed are around her storylines, and she kind of stinks in the ring, so she can't even make up the booking shit by putting in a good performance
  5. Dr. Cerebro v. El Brazo Jr. 4/15 Cerebro does a fair number of fun things in this match, but this is not one of the better Brazo kids and there were parts where he couldn't hold up his part. Cerebro is worth checking out
  6. Here is an unreleased track called "Song for Greg Valentine" which is really great
  7. Yeah I did they were just awesome live, you need to do a deep dive in their catalogue, he has a ton of albums and they are all really great. Next time they come to DC we will organize a caravan
  8. Spurs v. Clippers isn't going to be a walk over, Clips have been playing great in the last couple of months
  9. Here is an interview in Paste magazine where he talks all about his wrestling fandom Paste Magazine They are my all time favorite band, seen them live over a dozen times, so it was so crazy when I heard about this album
  10. Navarro v. El Hijo Dos Caras was pretty boring, the fake Capo kids mostly suck and it is tough to have a match this lame with Negro Navarro Virus v. Dragon Lee is another Virus classic, Dragon Lee title matches will be very different things, but I am bummed we aren't getting more Virus title matches
  11. Blog Post Youtube Playlist Maybe the best looking on paper lineups we have had this year
  12. Eterno/Trauma 1/2 v. Rush/La Sombra/La Mascara Caralucha 3/29 Got this from Black Terry Jr. Pretty disappointing match, I really dug the first match with these two teams, and was expecting the Revancha to ramp it up a bit, but this felt a little toned down. Never had that out of control WARIsh vibe of the first match, and was much more Ingobernables shtick, and less ass kicking. It actually felt like this was the first match, and the earlier match was the crazy revancha.
  13. Eric live bloggging this over at Segunda Caida SC
  14. He has it available just e-mail him.
  15. Did you watch the two Hechicero brawls? He was so awesome in those
  16. I am not sure how that will work, flyer v flyer matches are usually disappointing, would rather see those three against some good rudo bases.
  17. There are way to many random British indy guys in this tourney
  18. Hechicero had an awesome Black Terry Jr. taped run too. The Black Terry series was especially great here is my review of their best match 11. Rey Hechicero v. Black Terry Chilanga Mask 10/26 PAS: Total dream match which totally delivers. Hechicero has been having the best year match quality wise of anyone in wrestling, while Terry has been a little AWOL when it comes to great stuff available to watch. So happy our man Black Terry Jr. had his video camera ready to capture this match. We start out with some really great chain wrestling. Terry has been mostly a brawler in his late career resurgence, but he can still really rip it up maestro style on the mat, and when he gets a chance he seems right on the level of guys like Panther, Solar and Navarro. Hechicero is definitely the younger guy (respectively, he has been wrestling since 2001) in lucha most comfortable working a long mat section and he does some very cool stuff, including some nasty rolling leglocks. I also liked how the mat work was more intense and violent then a lot of maestro mat work, this was less of a showcase of technique then a matwork fight. When the match broke down into an actual fight it was awesome. I loved the finish with them brawling into the crowd and Hechicero taking a nasty little bump into folding chairs, they both get their legs stuck and just wail on each other Necro Butcher bar fight style. This was when you really appreciate BTJr.'s cinematography as we are really close up as both guys unload potato shots on each other. So much fun and right up there with the best things anywhere this year
  19. If you want to read a metric ton of Black Terry reviews COMPLETE AND ACCURATE BLACK TERRY His best calendar year stuff was all in Chilanga mask and only available from Black Terry Jr. for 5 bucks, but he was in some just awesome brawls with Hechicero and Aero Boy
  20. I am certainly not going to argue that the WWE doesn't have a serious race problem, but they also seem to be weirdly unable to push big guys correctly anymore. Masters, Gallows, Drew McIntyre, Kozlov, whatshis face with the nice crossbody who feuded with Finlay, all solid to great big young athletic guys they just pooped away. Hell look at Swagger who was a NCAA champion, athletic marvel and is stuck trading wins with Titus O'Neal on Superstars
  21. I am still hoping for a Dallas swoon. The Warriors would obliterate Dallas
  22. Russian youtube is your friend Rutube This isn't the best Busick v. Gulak match but it is very good Segunda Caida review
  23. I don't get Tanahashi and I really don't get Okada, he is like a blander Tanahashi with bad looking submissions he can't always apply correctly, that short arm clothesline is such bullshit. Dragon Lee is fucking great, I wish more people saw the Indy trios we reviewed on Segunda Caida where Dragon Lee worked as NJ invader in a WAR match. Go Lee!!
