  1. Oscar De La Hoya said he would fight GGG if he decided to make a comeback. Must be easier ways to commit suicide
  2. Good fight, how one of the judges had DeGale down for an 8point win is baffling. Very close fight. Close fight indeed but if I see either Dirrell brother fight again it will be too soon. Steve Kim is saying the boxing programing on Fox Sports 1 will be switching from Golden Boy to the PBC. One must wonder how big is this money warchest that Al Haymon is playing with and what will happen when it runs dry
  3. Probably the best fight for him now. I dont see Cotto or Canelo wanting to fight him any time soon and watching him drub random ranked WBA contenders is exciting but at times not very challenging. Hope the fight happens.
  4. Atmosphere will still blow because it is Toronto and I havent sensed any bit of Argo excitement here in a few decades.. Even when the crowds in Hamilton fall to the 18000 level or so the crowds there are still rowdy as hell, but it will be good to have the Argos back on the Exhibition grounds. Like you said the Argos have needed some investment here for awhile. Hopefully Bell/Tannenbaum feel like using some of their spare change to give them proper training facilities and not some crummy field with a couple of double wide trailers parked on it and crank up the promotion and try to get the kids excited about the CFL again. I was part of that so called lost generation where I couldnt see an Argo or TiCat game on TV all through the early 80's. Ironically when the Argos were exciting as hell to watch.
  5. I have always found the trilogy to be overrated. First fight great. Second and third were just there. Decent bouts but nothing legendary
  6. Because Babcocks agent was supposedly asking for an absurd amount of money and I have heard that Shanny and Babcock arent exactly buddy buddy
  7. The first couple of games at BMO will be well attended or sell out and everyone will be claiming the Argos are back. Then after a couple of weeks the crowds will dwindle again. Makes sense the CFL is an important property for Bell/TSN and you need to keep a team in Toronto afloat and they can afford to absorb the loses.
  8. Adrian Broner and Shawn Porter are going to fight each other next. i almost kinda want to see that fight
  9. COnsidering Chavez got to 87-0 before he "drew" with Whittaker and Nino Benvenuti got to 65-0 before he lost dont know what kind of record Floyd would be going for.
  10. Of his generation? Sure. Ever? Nah. He's too small for Welterweight. What would happen if Welterweight Mayweather fought Welterweight Ray Leonard*? Or Welterweight Tommy Hearns? Or Roberto Duran? * Probably the same thing that did happen when Mayweather Sr. fought Sugar Ray, come to think. Mayweather beats Duran. Hearns and his power, speed, boxing ability and height advantages would be too tough to deal with IMO. Leonard would be the most interesting one.
  11. Good thing Philip Rivers is monogamous or else he would have more kids running around out there than Jim Bob Duggar that virile son of a gun
  12. Not just the pads being bigger, they are ridiculously light. The old brown horse hair pads weighed as much as 20 pounds each. Get them wet after a couple of periods and they must have felt like lead weights. New pads are 9 pounds. Equipment in general has gotten better. Watch these maniacs block shots now. Guys were full time flamingos years ago. Outside of bigger nets you are limited to what you can do. Cant play 4 on 4, cant shrink equipment and calling holding and such consistently would be great but the game would be one long power play plus people are argueing the obstruction has to be there with the speed the guys can go now. What more can you do? Limit physical contact. People would shit all over that but back in the day you didn't "finish your checks" and take guys out when they didn't have the puck. Bigger nets is all you have. 4th liners are too good and on the better teams defensively sound. Back in the 70's when there was 32-34 teams and they were made up 95% or so out of Canadian guys good teams had two lines that could score. The shit teams had one guy, a couple of pluggers and 3 lines of cement heads and goons that could barely tie their skates.
  13. If he did that, no wonder he got thrown at. 3rd time they have thrown at him already this year. If it were me I would have walked the bases backwards making engine revving sounds
  14. It would only be fun to see if Keenan could make Kessel and Phaneuf cry.
  15. If the Oilers can move one of their past picks for a boat load of depth they have a shot of being a juggernaut for a few years but you need a goalie and I would have more faith if they could breakaway from Kevin Lowe and Craig MacTavish
  16. Little Chavez was a decent Middleweight. He had no prayer going up to Light Heavyweight
  17. Leafs blow so bad they couldn't even get this right.
  18. Unbelievable. Is this where the Oilers finally become a big boy franchise again? Still a joke. if the Coyotes had won the lottery the Canadian internets would break from people crying conspiracy. Edmonton is on pace to win the draft lottery more times than the Habs have won the Stanley Cup. Connor if you dont need to get paid right now just kill two years somewhere and you will be back in the draft
  19. Wilner wasnt a homer until he got suspended by the radio station years ago for running down the Jays specifically Cito Gaston last time he was manager. Now he is laughable at best.
  20. And he looked every second of his age. At least he is only calling out the Canadian Heavyweight Champion and not Klitchko
  21. I remember when Gabe Gross hit 8 HR one Grapefruit League season and the locals around Toronto thought we had the second coming of Hank Aaron coming to play in the outfield
  22. Thanks for posting that Elizium. Everyone is a good skater now. Bobby Orr on one leg made opponents look ridiculous. ESPN classic Canada loves playing the Montreal Boston too many men game from 1979. Watch that. Everyone is in slow motion compared to Guy Lafleur
  23. You need to make the nets bigger. Goalies are huge now and incredibly athletic along with plus sized equipment. Ken Dryden at 6'4" was the anomaly back then the short chubby guy that couldn't skate was the goalie. Expansion has nothing to do with the drop in scoring but the Michelin men in net with better technique along with the new defensive systems limit mistakes and scoring chances
  24. A lot of junior and minor hockey dominoes moving today. The Belleville Bulls are sold and will be moving to Hamilton. Montreal will move their farm team to St John's for a couple of years until the rink in Laval is finished and Winnipeg will move their farm team to Winnipeg. I guess may as well let Hamilton fail again as an OHL town.
  25. Phew that's good. There is tens of dollars to be made or horrendous amounts lost
