  1. Why does WWE run house shows up against Smackdown?
  2. Might've been clearer to have suggested he do a Kick - Wham - Stunner. What is the 'wham' part of that, anyway? The Stunnee bending over? Austin turning around?
  3. He wrestled a some matches with his old man there in Zero-1 and the Vader Time shows. I wasn't expecting much when I saw his FCW look: He looks like a hitchhiker that's about to rape you. He looks like a Miz cosplayer.
  4. That wouldn't be a bad gimmick if they didn't have Ryback doing the bully schtick. Pair him up with Alex Riley as the "hanging onto his glory days" 30-something. In fact, they could be a good "aging Biff Tannen's gang" stable. Just give one of them some 3D glasses.
  5. Well, Ryback's seen firsthand what happens if Heyman's in the other guy's corner, so I can see his motivation. And Paul's motivation is pretty much "Please, don't let CM Punk beat me up anymore." Although if I were him I'd be mad Ryback took so long saving me. Maybe he was eating Subway.
  6. Strike three? Nah... ETA: Also, I legitimately laughed out loud at HHH getting a whopping 4% of the vote on the "Best of All Time".
  7. I've enjoyed these matches as, like most of us, I remember liking Blackman but not much else. One thing I've noticed, though, is that he looks a little stiff/awkward at times when selling or getting into position for certain bumps (like in the Hardy matches.) Not terribly so, but enough that it made me wonder -- do you think that's a recurring problem with the wrestlers who focused ontraining in martial arts (or MMA) before transitioning to wrestling? I seem to recall Shamrock had a similar issue; almost like they take an extra fraction of a second to remind their bodies they're not supposed to avoid damage in this situation. But yeah, Blackman was good. And listening to the chants for Head Cheese, when they were upper-lower-midcard wrestlers... man, it makes it depressing to listen to crowds nowadays.
  8. Wait, there's a wrestler out there who still does the airplane spin? Who did you wrestle, Matt Classic? There's this little-known wrestler by the name of Daniel Bryan who's been known to bust them out in an obscure fed called World Wrestling -- er, something or other.
  9. Of course it's a work. That's why Bob Vila never jobs Bob Vila jobs to Home Depot That's what's best for the business.
  10. Yes! Didn't they have a guy called Watermelon Head? Yes! He's the one that stands out in my memory.
  11. That's his secondary finisher. Seems good to me.
  12. Many years ago, the DVDVRs went on at length about a Japanese indy named Zipang! Does anyone know if any of their video footage is on-line? I've tried googling, but there's an anime of the same name so it's pretty much impossible to find anything.
  13. I just watched five Above Average Mike Sanders matches, and I think he's an overlooked gem of the WCW end times, at least on the C shows. He lost every single match I saw, and I'm pretty sure ate the pin in the tag match he was in, and yet he struck me as the best part of each of those matches. He was competitive, sold well, and had an in-ring charisma that was fun to watch -- in my opinion, one of the better late-generation Power Plant graduates. It's a shame he never really caught on after the WCW buyout - it looks like he suffered some injuries in HWA, then got released, spent some time in TNA and Ring of Glory, and is now a stand-up comedian and motivational speaker. He's gimmick of being a "Solid C+" would've made him a great secondary opponent for Daniel Bryan right now.
  14. Maffew from Botchamania tweeted this out. Koko must've been in a bad mood:
  15. Fortunately, I did Now, we just need the Kaz Hayazhi vs. Raven craziness. I remember a tag match with Rantula and either Rick Fuller or Road Block vs the Faces Of Fear. Could you look for that? Rick Fuller - whatever happened to him? He seemed pretty decent for a guy his size. And was he related to Robert?
  16. He's from American Samoa. Most Samoan-Americans are, due to the cultural proximity (think Guam or Puerto Rico for similar situations.)
  17. I don't think it has anything to do with "serious wrestlers". Its just the reality show and them arguing over the spotlight because thats what women do. Also, if you were AJ, who would you rather face - Natalya, or Aksana?
  18. I wouldn't be in a position to make any hard-and-fast claims, as we didn't get any of the shows until the Monday Night Wars were in full swing. Nothing says you can't include pre-Nitro WCWSNs, anyway - it's never getting an official Best of set of any sort - although it might distract from the oddball B/C show nature that inspired the thread.
  19. These types of match-ups are what was so great about Saturday Night. Where else would you see Nagata again Booker T?
  20. Since there seemed to be some interest when I mentioned it in the Omnibus thread, I figured I'd start a repository for all the best/most memorable/entertaining matches and segments from WCW Saturday Night and it's step-sisters, Worldwide and Pro. Saturday Night is in an interesting position, as for a while it was essentially the flagship show for the promotion, but by the late 90s was essentially a C show where you'd get to see such stalwarts as Roadblock, Rick Fuller, and the Minnesota Wrecking Crew 2. A quick video search turned this up as an interesting start
  21. There is definitely no "official" set, but I know you can find torrents of complete episodes. An "unofficial" best of the B-shows" comp, of only the Saturday & syndicated shows would have potential for some good stuff. Yeah, there's a bunch of matches and angles on Youtube and the like. I was just hoping for a more centralized repository. I think you could get a lot of good stuff on it - big matches from the early years, odd match-ups from the "300 people on the roster" era, some before-they-were-stars appearances from folks like Mr. JL and RVD... lots of potential there.
  22. I asked this last month but I think it got lost amongst the postmodernism: Is there a Best of WCW Saturday Night set anyone knows of? Or best of WCWSN/Pro/Worldwide?
  23. I believe I agree with that. Also thought they dropped the ball on Miz&R-Truth: Lead Pipe Terrorists. Truth got suspended for a wellness violation and when he came back, they broke up the team, turned Truth face, and pushed him into the tag team with Kofi. I assumed the face turn and midcard demotion was more punishment. They also used the suspension to try to establish "Miz, serious bad-ass", didn't they? By hitting the Skull Crushing Finale on Truth on the ramp, I believe, to write him out.
