    Alright, so I know I said SHIELD would be good and all.. I'm sorry. But Guardians will totally be great. It'll be all Pirates of the Carribean and Princess Bride in Space with a raccoon and Glenn Close and Reilly. It'll be great. Right, guys?

    Yeah, Chris Colt is team captain. Rip Rogers thinks he should be team captain, however, and continuously tries to undermine him. This really pisses Bull Pain off and he walks out on all of them. Eventually Gambler ends up in the ring, by himself, against Hawk, Animal, Droz, Heidenreich, Sasaki, Rocco, Ax, Smash, Crush, and BLAST. Poor bastard rolled snake eyes once again.

    For events: Annihilation and its sequels are good is good. The way it usually works, though, is that the tie-ins are good, or at least a lot of them are, but the main book is a victim of bloated necessities and pacing issues. House of M had good ideas, a strong first issue, and some decent emotional stuff, but the actual comic itself was pretty terrible. Decimation was really unfocused and had some fun stuff like the Sentinel Squad mini series but is ultimately depressing and more of a means to an end than an end in and of itself. Disassembled is worse. The Thor stuff is good. The Avengers stuff is the worst thing Bendis' ever wrote. Iron Man is hugely disappointing since it just ripped apart the really interesting Secretary of Defense status quo. Secret War is all flash and no substance.

    I see it a lot like the Marvel comics relative to the Marvel movies. Use them as R&D engines to pull aspects from.

    Sam's one of my top five favorite Marvel characters and honestly? He's been all over the map in the last 30 years. He grows, he regresses, etc, etc. He generally takes a step back anytime he's on a larger profile book and then two steps forward whenever he's in a lower profile book. The only one that really beat that trend was Mike Carey on X-Men. A lot of people think the heart of the character is the gawky, lanky, awkwardness so they play that up and maybe they're right to.
