  1. The interview with the guy who won the spot and gave it up is interesting. It makes it sound like the coaches put a lot of pressure on him. he mentioned being "put into this situation," though it still does come off as selfless to an extent.
  2. We finally made it through season 2 of Veronica Mars. The movie's prompted us to move on it finally.
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0HdE1KKinU Things in wrestling I like: Buff Bagwell being a massive dick and pissing off the crowd and everyone in the ring with him repeatedly until he finally gets thrashed for his effort. Probably his finest moment past the Blonds tag from 93. In fact, he's really great here. Good timing. Really crisp offense. Super dickish interaction with the crowd. My favorite part is his attempt to do the taunting scream again after his thrashing early on, for the third time, and it being incredibly lame after what just happens, so he just whimpers over the corner to tag Norton. You can play a ridiculing heel that makes light of his opponent, but ONLY if you get your comeuppance. You would think Bagwell might be the sort of guy who wouldn't understand that, but it's absolutely apparent here. Things in wrestling I don't like: Guys standing around and hitting/chopping/clotheslining each other.
  4. At this stage, I do hope they start with either Christian/Cesaro or Christian/Bryan.
  5. So, and I know this is hard to believe, but the Douglas/Steamboat tag is better than the Nasties one. What a fun little match. What a shitty crowd. No wonder Douglas hates Flair. It's kind of surreal how he'd go back and basically conquer Philly a few years later. Douglas/Steamboat were really good with their rapid fire shine offense. Tag team Specialists and all that. Sasaki and Liger just dismantle the knee. Liger popping the crowd with the figure four is kind of hilarious. Steamboat running around pumping up the crowd during the crab was great. Not even this crowd can resist buying into it. Douglas not selling his knee after the suplex before the hot tag is silly. It was a sort of dumb spot to set up the hot tag in general even if it had a snap. A neckbreaker or something would have been better, especially if he wasn't going to sell it well. I did like Sasaki and Liger kicking out the Slaughter cannon to transition into a second FIP. I wouldn't have given Steamboat a hope spot right after the spike piledriver either, but that's just me. I had a schadenfreude moment where I enjoyed Douglas missing his dropkick too much. Liger and Sasaki made one hell of a team.
  6. This is surprisingly enjoyable. Saggs works quite well with Sasaki. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0FWJroReF0
  7. My gut is that a lot of us wouldn't agree with her politics but I do think it might have been interesting if she won her Congress bid.
  8. "We need to get fans from the boom period excited about the WWE Network. Who do we have from 1999 that's still active that we can hotshot the belt on?" "Mark Henry?" "What, no, the whole hand thing!" "He's had ten plus years of being a dominant force." "And none of them know that since they haven't been watching." "How about the ugly guy?"
  9. If you're still going on about me when I hadn't posted here for almost all day, it wasn't a "poor attempt", you've been "trolled". Though frankly, all I've done is mocked someone who's being such an ass that he's left himself up for being easily mocked. Consider this, my friend, there are many, many people on this board who don't like when I usually take a run at Victator like this and post that I should shut the fuck up. In this thread, not one person has told to stop fucking with you. Not one. Look, Chuckles. Just because none of us want to get involved in this massive heap of argumentative bullshit that has absolutely no upside doesn't mean that you're suddenly serving an important and valued role in the community. Antacular's ridiculous arguments are one thing. You jumping up and down going "Look at me! I'm a good troll now! Hurray for me!" is pretty much just as excruciating.
  10. He does like to attack family members.
  11. It's hard to feel bad for the fans of the team that came in second in the World Series too.
  12. There's the idea that they screwed up his push by Kevin Nashing him or something? Or that he should be in the main event instead of Batista? Or just that people really want to see CM Punk and they're letting everyone, including him, know. Your empathy lacks, man.
  13. I don't think THAT Vince McMahon is around anymore. I could be wrong... It's a strange time. In some ways the WWE is more self-aware than ever when it comes to their history and the history of the industry, to understanding certain trends and injokes and predicting crowds. In some ways, they're still as backwards as ever. I think that's what a lot of the debate here has been over the last few months. How proactive are they? How reactive are they? How reactionary are they? I don't think something like the Raw after Mania from last year could have happened in years past.
  14. So apparently the 2/24 Raw is going to be a big one, with rumors of Hogan and Taker returning and whatever else to hype the Network. You figure that the following Monday is still going to be a sort of important show for them. I think that maybe they should go the opposite way that Ramsey suggested. It should feel like one of those old Canada shows where everything is Bizarro World. Those shows may not get across the talking points that WWE want them to but they always feel energetic and exciting and IMPORTANT. They're always worth watching. I think that might draw curious viewers in. It's a risk but this is a time to take risks.
  15. Ah, apparently the way it went was that Trish's website picked Lita and Trish then said that would be a great choice or something.
  16. Only if they hire him for a short term contract to manage a new North Korean Kim Duk Jr.
  17. Meltz outright says that Vince wants Punk back because he's their #2 merch guy.
  18. I'm actually really curious about the CM Punk trademark and whether or not they could do stuff like that. Because if so, as we've said before, Corey Graves as the Corporate Best in the World is the way to go. Edit: Oh, Internet: Drug Down, indeed.
  19. My gut tells me that if that sort of thing was out there for every Raw, it'd get leaked more and we'd be talking about some jerkass comment every week. With the way the wrestling business is so microanalyzed on wrestling sites, there's no way that, if people had access to this, we wouldn't hear about stuff all the time. WWE COMMENTATOR REMARKS ON MID CARD TALENT! or something.
  20. Part of the problems in watching this a day late is sometimes you get confused by the comments people make. After seeing the Girl, Bye bit, I thought then that Orton shouted it out later in the night too for some reason. I enjoyed his little freak out but was ultimately disappointed.
  21. Nord claims that he and Brody were going to come in to WWF as a team. I find this dubious.
  22. Look buddy, the validity of my imaginary nerd list requires some pretty complicated credentials.
  23. Brock. I'd put him in the top four you mentioned ahead of Goldust, personally. Brock's an interesting case. It's really hard for me to judge him since we don't see him on a weekly basis like the other guys. We know what Cesaro would do against Kofi or during a heel control tag segment or in a near squash scenario on NXT. With Brock we just get glimpses. As for the outlaws, I think they were sort of valid in late 97 as a poor man's PG-13 when they were presented as mainly annoying.
