This is true but he was given more than enough opportunities to prove he's the franchise. I'm just happy he's found success in KC because he's a good guy. He was pretty good the one year Norv Turner was his OC, iirc. But, yeah, the move to Kap made perfect sense. Younger, higher upside, dangerous with his feet...

It's weird. Smith has had three straight good seasons (granted he got hurt and lost his job while injured in the middle one) and people are still constantly surprised with the whole "wait, since when can Alex Smith play?" thing. The last three years, he's put up QB ratings of 90.7, 104.1, and 89.1, while throwing for a combined 53 scores and just 17 ints. All that said, he is straight MURDERING the Pats today. Smith never outright stunk, true. But in so many ways, he's the epitome of average. I don't think I'm too far off in that no one takes him to be a throwing machine. But he's doing just that tonight. Meanwhile--yeesh, did Brady become old overnight or what? He's more the epitome of "efficient but not dangerous" Except when he was shredding the Colts in that classic last year, and tonight, when he's "I have become Smith, destroyer of secondaries"

I think Jingus touched on this up above, but putting the entire plot/character/etc of American Beauty aside, it's a fucking drop dead gorgeous movie. Just impeccably shot by Mendes and the late and lamented Conrad Hall. I haven't seen Beauty since it was still fairly new, but I vividly remember seeing it at the Ideal Theater in Clare, Michigan with my older sister, about half full, and the two of us being the only two people laughing at the movie. We laughed constantly throughout it, and we got a bunch of weird looks when as we were leaving. Jillian looked at me and said "it was a comedy, right?" I certainly thought so as well, but we were the only two people there who did, apparently. Anyway, I liked it then, can't say how I'd feel about it now. I also like Office Space though, so, hey, whatever.

I'm more interested in it that Tusk. But I am confused how we went from "Can't find funding for Clerks III" -> "Makes Tusk for $3 million, turns a profit based on selling the rights before it opens" - "Still can't find funding for Clerks III" -> "Tusk opens poorly and drops quickly, basically a bomb" - "Here's some money, make Clerks III."
