This is what, the third DC stab at an Ultimate line? After All-Star and Earth One (fourth if you count the Nu52) The problem Marvel ran into was the whole "classic stories and characters without the weight of continuity" wears off after a few years when continuity starts to build up. (Though I personally was a pretty big fan of the late era Ultimate Universe 1.0 when it instead became the place that the writers could do anything. Kill Peter Parker and Wolverine for real, split the United States into chunks, etc etc. It didn't sell worth a damn.) Depending on creative teams/characters I'll at least give these a look though.

I think I'm more partial to Makabe/Thatcher than the Dog Collar Match personally, but that's more stylistic preference than a comment on match quality. That was a top two matches for the ages, on top of a great card all the way down. Been a long time since I bought wrestling on physical media but hell yes.

Oh I'm way the fuck more interested in the sequel. Jukebox musical sequel to a serious drama that wasn't a musical, with Lady Gaga the second lead? This has high trainwreck potential, but it also could end up being something special. Basically I can see it being a 1/5 or a 4.5/5 but I can't imagine it's gonna be a 2.5-3/5 like the first one was.

However bad of a day you had today, Tigers third baseman Zach McKinstry probably had a worse one. Trailing 5-4 in the 12th, he committed an error that resulted in three runs. Then because his manager forgot that the pitching coach had already made a mound visit, and because it was the 12th inning of the first game of a double header, McKinstry wound up on the mound moments later. He proceeded to walk a batter and then serve up a three run homer. He basically was personally responsible for six runs allowed in the 12th. Detroit lost 11-5.

That's completely unfair. It also had copious and obvious lifting from The King of Comedy.

Yeah there was a point where he said something about how he was leaving animation to return full time to comics, but I don't know that he's ever done interiors since then.

With NYX being revamped/revived that makes me wonder... Has Josh Middleton done anything except covers for Aquaman and a few other DC books in the last like ten or fifteen years?

I was rooting for NC State because of the great story and how awesome Burns is, but this is probably the right matchup overall. And on the women's side we have the undefeated top team versus the biggest star in the game, so I guess the TV network wins that one.
