  1. Just a little something to hopefully cheer up any metal bros here who are bummed about Dave Brockie's passing-- another new Metallica cut. This is the Ronnie Rising Medley from the "This Is Your Life" tribute album to Dio-- four Rainbow-era tunes: These guys are firing on all cylinders. 2015 can't come soon enough.
  2. You guys are gonna think I'm nuts, but I wonder if there's anyone out there who would try something like this in wrestling: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/teller-wins-lawsuit-copied-magic-690347
  3. Just got back from a pretty fun WWE house show. EDIT: Forgot the most important part! Saw Bob Backlund in the men's room washing his hands. He told me to enjoy the show, and I told him to run for president again.
  4. Watched SuperBrawl 96 last night. Johnny B Badd came out to some crappy stock music, but a att the emd of the match the "he looks like little richard" theme played. No Man Called Sting either
  5. Ben, I think you're one of the most insightful posters here, but you and I both know that this one needed more references to Spaldingz.
  6. The reason I'm $2500 short this winter Hopefully you are right. When I imagine the match against HHH Starrcade 1997 keeps coming to mind. Bryan wins after looking bad and getting saved by Vince. Vince overturns Bryan getting beat due to HHH using his power to cheat. Bryan lucks into a pin during the main event if he wins. You think it's gonna be Vince? I've been thinking the same scenario but with Hulk
  7. I really only messed with them when they brought Chris Hyatte in to write for them. I always loved reading his stuff as a kid Wow, Chris Hyatt! I remember loving his Mop Ups as a teenager, I'm sure time hasn't been kind to those, unfortunately . I do remember some ridiculous premise he presented about he and Trish Stratus that either he really believed or really wanted everyone to believe, and shit got really weird. Anybody recall? Oh yeah, the "future ex-Mrs. Trish Hyatte." I don't remember the whole thing, but I guess someone duped him into believing they were Trish Stratus, and they had some phone conversations or something, and it was obviously BS. I also remember some kind of weird, gay, Triple H fan fiction or something.
  8. Watching episode 5 of Raw. Macho losing his shit over his mic troubles during Steiners/Bobby Who and Glen Ruth is tremendous. Also, never really saw any of Glen Ruth outside of the Headbangers, so that was a treat.

  10. Here's the "garage demo" version that was included with the live show on LiveMetallica.com. Really, really digging it. EDIT: Just thinking after reading Phantom Lord's post, Death is Not the End was pretty cool, but did anyone else think Vulturous was pretty duke? I think the Whoooooaaaaaaa yeahhhhhhhhhh was like, something a band doing a Metallica parody would do. But this.... this shit right here? Awesome.
  11. This might be the liquor talking, but I think John Morrison would make a great fourth for that stable. Ryder should just be a chickenshit manager type, while Miz & Morrison reunite as a tag team, with Dolph as the lead guy of the group.
  12. And TNA will neither promote it nor gain a single viewer. Palin, on the other hand, will ride the votes of BEER! MONEY! fans all the way to the white house. Probably not, tho.
  13. Don't know if anyone else caught Main Event, but those Orton and Batista WM commercials with the acoustic versions of their theme songs were boss as hell.
  14. Just caught Vince Russo commenting on the network about the Bret-Owen feud. I threw up in my mouth a bit and im pretty sure one of my balls got sucked up into my torso.
  15. this was going to be my #1 example. i also dig the Halloween Havoc match, but it isn't really on par with the other 2. his stuff with Flair is ok, but doesn't touch their Mania match. This is why I shouldn't post after cocktails and pancakes. What I really meant to ask was how everyone rated their stuff in WCW against each other vs. their WWF stuff. I know they tagged a lot in '95, which I've seen, but outside of the title matches in '99 I really haven't seen too much of them against each other there.
  16. Honestly, you're probably right on both counts. A question for you, and anyone else who wants to chime in: did Hogan and Savage do anything in WCW that remotely approached their WWF stuff? There was a Nitro match in the beginning of the NWO split that was kind of fun, but nothing else springs to mind.
  17. Yo that link is to this page, unless thats the joke
  18. No way! Can you elaborate? I was making pancakes and thinking about Paul Orndorff until like 10 so I didnt see it
  19. Honest to God, I really can't make an assertion as to my favorite WCW Hulk match. I legitimately cannot formulate an opinion because I have a weirdly nostalgic stance on even his worst shit with, say, Sid or The Wall. I suppose if I had a gun to my head, I'd agree with the ones you listed. Maybe Starrcade 97 and SuperBrawl VIII, not because of his work itself, but just because that Sting build was such a huge part of my childhood and coming of age as far as what I can appreciate now. I mean, obviously the Flair/Arn matches would've been off the charts, but I think Orndorff/Pillman couldve had a really cool dynamic as well
  20. Agree entirely on the two belts thing. I actually wrote a bit about that in my post, but decided to axe it because by the time Kane had the WHC, it was kind of reaching that status as being not as important as the WWE title. So a good comparison would've been if they put the IC on Orndorff, at least in my mind. Could not disagree more on Razor, but like I said, I'm a huge fan of his so I may overrate him a little.
  21. That's a tough one. Kane, despite some of the bullshit they've had him do, hasn't ever not been over. Plus, he had the WWF title for a day in addition to the "lifetime achievement" ECW and WHC runs, which is more than can be said for Orndorff as far as meaningful runs. I mean, Kane and Bryan polished the hell out of that Dr. Shelby turd-- compare that to Orndorff's motivational talk from Gary Spivey. As far as someone who I'd put in that boat today, I'd have to say The Miz, despite his time with the title. I liked his smarminess, but the fact is, he, like Orndorff, was unfortunately part of one of the lesser-celebrated WM mains despite being surrounded by stars, and probably won't reach that level again unless there is some serious rehabilitation to his character. "Daniel Bryan" said FSW. Maybe Hardcore Holly? An occasional challenger to the top guys, a credible threat in ECW. Razor Ramon, maybe? I disagree, but only because I thought Hall would've been a great main event guy. Maybe I overrate him a bit because I'm such a fan of his stuff, but I put him in that Hennig/Rude/Jake boat of "should've beens."

  23. This looks to be the best quality available: I'm pretty impressed. I liked this much more than anything on Death Magnetic, even judging by some dude's cell phone recording. That harmony part near the middle-end is as old-school as it comes. The song to me is like if Leper Messiah was written in the '90s. The riffs are very good together and not at all disjointed like parts of DM; they definitely used AJFA and black as source material here. The new Sabbath suffered from the same thing, so I've gotta assume that's Rick Rubin guidance. I'd love if they would get an Andy Sneap or a Roy Z in there. Shit, could even Bob Rock do any worse than St. Anger? Soundboard version should be available from LiveMetallica in the next couple of days.
