  1. i bought a R.O.B. online today. you kbow, the robot for the original Nintendo. i am beyond pumped to get it, even tho its coming from Canada so i've got time to wait. but i have wanted one of these since i was a kid, so i guess i can wait another week or two.
  2. fuck it, why not? 1. Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Captain America: First Avenger 3. the Avengers 4. Iron Man 5. Thor 2: Dark World 6. Captain America 2: Winter Soldier 7. Avengers 2: Age of Ultron 8. Thor 9. Ant-Man 10. Iron Man 3 11. Iron Man 2 12. Incredible Hulk i have enjoyed all of these movies. Ant-Man being #9 surprised me, i thought it would be higher until i started making the list. the only sequel i enjoyed more than the original was Thor. i also enjoy Agents of SHIELD and am having fun with Daredevil, although i'm only three episodes in.
  3. did the UFC show any interest in Marloes Coenen back when they brought in most of the Strikeforce fighters? she was a standout in the division but instead went to Invicta and ultimately Bellator. i haven't heard her name in a while so she must not be doing much. i enjoyed her SF fights and would like to see her get in there with the UFC girls. Also, she's a former SF champ who hasn't fought Rousey, so there's that.....
  4. after the atrocity of UFC 33, dana said they would never do three title fights on one event ever again. i'm sure you know that. and i know to take dana's "never"s with a grain of salt. just wanted to point it out.
  5. i'll have you know that Snakes on a Plane was the #1 movie for the week it was released. during it's theatrical run it grossed about double its budget.
  6. i was arguing with a friend about Steiner the other day. he was saying WWE never gave him a chance at the top and instead just did the stupid shit with Test. i pointed him towards this match. after watching it, he understood why Steiner was never given a run with the title. now, don't get me wrong. Steiner as the top guy could've would've been entertaining, but i've always figured that since HHH wasn't involved in the Alliance angle, this feud was his way to show his dominance. Preceded by destroying RVD and followed by crushing Booker T. Thanks for making Raw intolerable for a year, trips.
  7. a few years ago, some friends of mine went to a Raw taping. I wasn't able to go due to other commitments, but i stopped feeling bad about it when they took to calling it "Monday Night Lashley". Apparently Lashley wrestled like four matches that night, and not much else of note happened. here's the card.
  8. i've been planning to pick Barao since the rematch was announced, but it's completely dependent on how he looks Friday at the weigh-ins. Meisha all over the place? time to watch the Road to the Octagon.
  9. i was live at that Taboo Tuesday show and was yelling and marking out for Snitsky. even had a "It's Not His Fault" sign. it was a blast.
  10. so many choices..... Kane & Lita's wedding from 2004 is the 2nd best pro wrestling wedding ever (after Macho/Liz of course). Heel Trish Stratus is un-fucking-believably good here. whatever specialty Raw it was where Mae Young's hand shows up as a teenager (Raw 1000?) all of those "heel stable dresses up like face stable" skits. nWo/Horsemen, d-X/Nation, etc. i could watch them a million times. but my top choice would probably have to be the WWF Brawl for All tournament in 1998. i completely understand why it didn't get over with the live crowd, but i thought it was awesome. i'm currently rewatching 98 Raws right now and i am enthralled by this monstrosity. i have a DVD of the complete tourney and have watched it a number of times.
  11. on another subject, according to Owen Hart's wikipedia page (i know, i know), Triple H's 'the Game" nickname was intended for Owen. is there any truth to this? it seems unlikely to me but still possible with the timeline. a friend pointed this out to me and i immediately questioned it.
  12. does anyone even pay attention to OneFC anymore? i watched the first few cards, and read results and watched highlights up thru the mid teens (until about the time Askren showed up) but haven't even considered paying attention at all lately. almost no name recognition + mainly lighter weight divisions + zero hype anywhere = not a lot of interest.
  13. there are people that like the first better than the second? i want to change one of my answers. if i am friends with someone that likes BTTF1 more than BTTF2, i will de-friend them immediately.
  14. 1. Where did you grow up, and what was it like? grew up poor in a small town in the midwest. it was fine. 2. Was anyone else in your family into movies? If so, what effect did they have on your moviegoing tastes? eh, not really. my one time stepdad liked westerns and James Bond flicks. i also like Bond but can't stand westerns. My mom liked movies from the 70s, which i generally avoid. 3. What's the first movie you remember seeing, and what impression did it make on you? the actual first movie i saw in theaters was Transformers, but i don't remember anything about watching it at that point. I actually have no idea. as a kid, we had a bunch of VHS taped from tv. the Indiana Jones trilogy, the Star Wars trilogy, etc., and i watched them endlessly. 4. What's the first movie that made you think, "Hey, some people made this. It didn't just exist. There's a human personality behind it." i don't even know what this question is asking. and i don't know how to answer it. 5. What's the first movie you ever walked out of? if i'm paying money to watch a movie, then i am absolutely watching the entire thing. 6. What's the funniest film you've ever seen? Super Troopers. saw it in theaters on a friend's whim and have thanked him for it ever since. i quote this movie AT LEAST once a week. 7. What's the saddest film you've ever seen? the first movie i ever cried at was "All Dogs Go To Heaven" when i was but a kid. there haven't been many that have equaled that. 8. What's the scariest film you've ever seen? i love horror and slasher films, but i don't find them scary. a lot of them are creepy in a "if this actually happened to me" kinda way, and plenty of them make you jump, but actual scary? nah. 9. What's the most romantic film you've ever seen? i'd have to give this a lot of thought, but i'm not really one for romance in movies. it's so overplayed. 10. Is there a movie that you think is great, or powerful, or perfect, but that you never especially want to see again, and why? Almost Famous. it's probably my favorite movie, but i rarely watch it because i feel it takes the magic away. 11. What movie have you seen more times than any other? probably Super Troopers. it used to be a go-to for late night movie watchings. Still makes me laugh. a lot. 12. What was your first R-rated movie, and did you like it? ratings were never really something that we paid attention to as a kid. Even from a young age, i was watching Friday the 13th movies and action flicks. 13. What's the most visually beautiful film you've ever seen? the Matrix was the first movie whose effects really dazzled me. 14. Who are your favorite leading men, past and present? Brad Pitt. Mark Wahlberg. 15. Who are your favorite leading ladies, past and present? i'm sure there's someone, but i'm blanking right now. i'll probably kick myself later. 16. Who's your favorite modern filmmaker? Tarantino hasn't done me wrong yet. 17. Who's your least favorite modern filmmaker? i'm going to say michael bay, although i haven't seen any of his current movies. they just don't interest me. a more correct answer would probably be M. Night Shamalan or whatever. fuck that guy. 18. What film do you love that most people seem to hate? the Adventures of Captain Zoom in Outer Space. ok, so most people haven't heard of it, but i love it anyway and wanted to give it some props. 19. What film do you hate that most people love? Napoleon Dynamite 20. Tell me about a moviegoing experience you will never forget—not just because of the movie, but because of the circumstances in which you saw it. me and a couple friends went to see the Blair Witch Project. we drove 30 miles to get to the theater (i rode in the bed of a pickup). It's the only movie i've ever been ID'd at, and i was too young to watch but both my friends were of age. i said i forgot my ID and they let me in anyway. 21. What aspect of modern theatrical moviegoing do you like least? ticket prices. 22. What aspect of moviegoing during your childhood do you miss the most? somebody else buying the ticket? 23. Have you ever damaged a friendship, or thought twice about a relationship, because you disagreed about whether a movie was good or bad? no. that sounds like a friendship that is horribly strained already. 24. What movies have you dreamed about? none that i know of, although situations from movies undoubtedly pop in occasionally. 25. What concession stand item can you not live without? my go-to is a pop and Mamba candy. and of course popcorn.
  15. Hamill and Conroy please! ah, what the hell. i'm in regardless.
  16. i have no recollection of the Kurt Angle dark match. this was two days after Owen Hart fell to his death, the rest of the week's shows were cancelled, but this went on since it was a Raw taping for the following week. i actually don't remember both Shotgun and Heat being taped, i thought it was only Heat. faulty memory again. the only two things i legitimately remember are X-Pac and Kane losing the tag titles (i saw a title change hands!) and the first appearance of the Higher Power, which me and my friends thought was the coolest thing ever. and i didn't check, but this may have been the first match of Beaver Cleavage.
  17. or he could've not gone 3-5 in the UFC and gotten a good deal. when he fought Manuwa, i figured the loser would fade into obscurity. thanks for proving me right, Jimmo!
  18. please no Tate/Cyborg. i like rooting for Meisha but she would get absolutely steamrolled in that fight and i really don't want to see that. literally anybody else and i'm ok with it.
  19. a bit, but not completely, and not forever. if he loses, and loses badly, he'll get fights lined up with lower guys again, start talking again, and after those couple of wins, start calling out Aldo and we're right back. He can always say Aldo ducked him if nothing else, and people will be clamoring for the fight again.
  20. I read and loved that series. Tracked down all 20 issues about 10 years ago. The last one was a bit harder to find than I expected. It was that series that really got me into all the PD Golden Age heroes. Have you read any of the spin off series? Man o War is decent, same with Ferret. i haven't started reading any of them yet, but i fully plan to. i found the whole Protectors series to download and about half of the Ferret (bought the other half) Bought the Gravestone series and the Arrow and Airman one-shots. haven't been able to track down Man of War yet, but still looking. as far as Golden Age heroes go, Marvel's "the Twelve" has been by favorite series. Dynamite's "Project SuperPowers" was also fantastic in scope, but since it is left open-ended it kinda bums me out now. Any other suggestions?
