  1. Here's a good one the Devils are pulling: they are putting together a date and time for people to pick up their tickets in person at the arena. The hook is that they will take a picture of you with a player to be determined. That's all fine and dandy, but all STHs paid $20 for processing (ie: mail you your tickets). Unless I am missing something there are no plans to refund that money if you pick up in person. In an unrelated note my friend I go to the games with received his Flyers tickets today. Flyers may charge top dollar but when it comes to customer service they don't fuck around. Think there are 3 days I can do a Flyers/Devils doubleheader (Flyers at 1pm, Devils at 7pm). Also the Sabres lone visit is the Eric Desjardins Flyers HOF night. One of my goals for this season is to see the Sabres in 5 different venues (hoping some friends do a trip to First Niagara so I can tag along).
  2. My Devils rep told me tickets will be sent out in a week, and the thought of that makes me so happy because I'm just starved for hockey at this point. Why can't they come up with a WNHL so we can have hockey year round?
  3. As bad as I feel today at least we are not Toronto. I think I understand why the Leafs have been so terrible, I wouldn't trust MLSE to run a Safeway at this point.
  4. FUCK SENE, FUCK OUR ENTIRE FUCKING BACKLINE AND FUCK THE FUCKING DC SCUM. Henry deserves so much better than this shitshow.
  5. It appears as if the soda people have suddenly realized we have a history prior to 2006, which is nice (if belated). They are actually showing clips from the Metro days, are tweeting out Metro pics, and the long banned giant Metro banner made it's triumphant return Saturday to 101 (first time it has ever appeared in Harrison). FORZA METRO!!!
  6. There have been many great players to play in MLS over the past 19 seasons, but with all due respect to them I say that Thiery Henry is the greatest. It is a pleasure to watch a master of his craft and if you are in NY or another MLS city and we come to your town then you owe it to yourself to go see him live. And on a related note I wonder when an English side will make a bid for Bradley Wright Phillips? He has a real shot to break the league single season scoring mark.
  7. I was kind of hoping that Celtic would copy the angle where Mikey Whipwreck won the ECW tv title by accident and would get destroyed but retain the title by reverse decision DQ's. Renewed my Metro ST's for 2015 today. This year I got at least 20 matches between league, Arsenal friendly and CCL (any home playoff matches are also included), so for $325 I got pretty good value for my money. Team is planning on doing a 180 on it's policy of ignoring Metro history, and there is talk of doing a "Metro" third jersey for next year's 20th season. Hoping they honor club legends, my first 4 picks: Gio, Clint, Howard and JPA (would've included Donodoni but JPA had a longer stint here. They do a ring of honor he does belong as well).
  8. There is some truth to that, but the team was still bleeding money even with that deal. Without that you are right that the team probably moves but Wang still gets credit because he was still losing a ton of money In a building that was obsolete (to put It mildly). IIRC the guy who negotiated that deal was Spano, so ironically he played a significant role in the team staying.
  9. The IslanderMania board is now a pants-free zone for the forseeable future. But as much as a batshit crazy lunatic that Wang is, it really must be said that without him the Islanders would no longer exist. He very easily could've moved the team to Quebec or Seattle but he fought and made sure they would stay in the area. In a way, he is very much like Tom Gollisano: many in Buffalo were angry with him for penny pinching but it can't be denied that he saved hockey in WNY.
  10. Crowd at the ROH show tonight was just awful. They just distrupted the entire show trying to get themselves over. During the tag title match some of the assholes were throwing streamers into the ring. It was real telling when they announced last call for beer and there was a mass exodus from the stands. As for the show, besides the main event nothing stood out. Dissapointing show overall.
  11. I'm not spending $200 for that plaque, I'm waiting for the yard sale in front of Dixie's house where I'll be able to get it for a fiver.
  12. Ladder match was great, easily worth the $33 I paid for a ticket. Only negative thing about tonight was that the tapings lasted close to 5 hours (and yes, I wish I had taken a 5 Hour Energy when the show started).
  13. Title match was real good. Other thing of note was Rebel taking an ugly bump off the top rope onto the steps outside the ring in the battle royal. I honestly thought she was dead. She was down for a while and actually got cheered as she was being helped out.
  14. At Yankees game tonight. Everyone around me noted the soccer lines, noted that Liverpool had played here, but had no idea who their opponent was.
  15. Saddest thing about all this is that the show I went to tonight was very good, far better than the Smackdown taping I went to last month. As a product they really seemed to turn a corner with their northeast tapings, and it's a shame that all the stupidity caught up to them.
  16. Best part was that Young clearly got to the floor first, and the fans booed Roode because he clearly lost.
  17. There is a truly awful part of me that wants to go to the merch stand and tell the guy I'll wait for the liquidation sale.
  18. Sign I want to bring: For Sale: 6 sided ring, gently used, no reasonable offer turned down.
  19. Actually just got tickets for the Tuesday and Thursday tapings. I just want to be able to say I went to the last TV taping in TNA history, they really should make the last match a Turkey on a Poll one. The live reaction of the NYC fans is also intriguing.
  20. The biggest difference between MLS and teams in top Euro leagues (besides the salary cap, which is a recipie for an inferior product but that's another story) is depth. The starting lineup of a good MLS side could compete with teams in those leagues, but due to the cap the reserves are very weak. Bench guys in MLS can make 20-30k a year, and you aren't going to get quality for that price.
  21. Big thing I took away from this: we've finally found an owner who could beat Charles Wang in a crazy contest.
  22. Make mine a Moulson! We basically loaned him out for a few months and got a #1 for doing so. Was cynical at first but Tim Murray is proving to be a great hire.
