  1. I just finished up Greg Rucka's run on Punisher last night. For a while now I've thought Rucka didn't really have much to say about Frank, and I think I was right in the end. This series ultimately wasn't really Frank's story much as it is Rachel Cole Alves's story. Rucka does a great job building up Rachel as character with her clearly having a real interest and skill for Frank's mission, but also having clear emotional problems that it will eventually (and do) lead to her making a mistakes that cost lives. The Enter the War Zone mini was a good swan song for Frank. We finally see him go too far for one of EMH, and it brings the Avengers down on his head. Its actually all pretty nice as Frank does his best matching up against each Avengers, but the story really does ultimately build to the fact that he is screwed here. Frank can only distract Widow and retreat. He has no chance against Thor. And Frank can only play Tony and Peter's arrogance against them for so long. I also dug how the how story showed Cap as a strategist. Its probably the smartest I have seen Rogers look in the little I have read of him so far. The parts focusing on Rachel are quite nice, and I love where they ultimately lead for her in taking over Castle's mission. This was probably the best way one could rest Frank's character for a bit while also managing to create a legacy for the Punisher. Its really good stuff all in all. Its shame Rucka wasn't able to follow up on and deliver a few more stories with Rachel.
  2. Read Ex Machina Volumes 2-5. Hundred remains a fascinating character with his political views and how he handles the various situations that pop big or small. I actually like that he really does want to focus on the truly important things rather than screw around and do nothing about any of the major issues in his city. I was surprised when they killed off one of his staff. It was a bit disappointing as I liked the character, but I generally liked the story behind it. I find the Great Machine side of the series is probably the least interesting, but at the same time the way the effects Hundred's current life and made him the man he is during his time in office is pretty interesting. I'm really digging this series.

  4. Yes, I did love that first scene. The second movie's opening scene wasn't anywhere near that level though I did somewhat enjoy the general idea behind it. So should I just stop Scream 2 or are 3 & 4 worth checking out to some degree?
  5. Went ahead and finally saw the first two Scream movies. I ended up enjoying them more than I thought I would. I liked how they played with the horror movie rules and dug most of the characters. I have to say I have no idea how Courteney Cox's character has managed to live so long despite being so annoying. The best thing about her in the first two films is Sidney punching her out twice and the relationship with Dewey. Also have to say that it was hard for me to disassociate Gellar and Olyphant from Buffy Summers and Raylan Givens. Anyways both were good though I think I prefer the first movie to the second.
  6. Not my favorite, but I thought it was fine overall.
  7. Disappointed the Batman beyond suit isn't back, but yeah the Knightfall suit being there is pretty damn cool.
  8. I liked it more than I expected for the majority of the movie. Although any time the characters were out of costume and just in "street clothes" it was too anime for my liking. In terms of the quality of animation in the big action scenes, that is one area where I would rank it among the best DCAU stuff. Eh, we were talking about the Wonder Woman short, not Flashpoint.
  9. Pretty sure the God Killer story finishes up next issue.
  10. Before this show I would have said low because it was obvious Orton would cash in even if Daniel beat Cena. Now that they have actually teased it I'm not so sure.
  11. I actually enjoyed the second and third books even more than the first. I love the way they build and directions they take the world and characters. Will also trow out the the spin-off novel that takes place 300 years later, Alloy of Law, is quite good as well. Its probably the most of fun of the series.
  12. Read Nova: Nova Corps. This was on the short side, but a nice read. I'm liking the initial five recruits brought in by Worldmind, and the story with Worldmind himself kind of losing it has been pretty interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes since it looks like it will be a part of War of Kings.
  13. I can see that. I found the look interesting as well though its not for me personally. I know most hate Ultimate Spider-man, but I really loved today's episode for the focus on Stan Lee's character, especially with him breaking into old school Marvel narration half the time.
  14. Haven't cared for the Wonder Woman shorts. Loved the Lois Lane one though. Watched Flashpoint Paradox last night. Thought it was good though not necessarily in the top tier of DC animated films.
  15. I can see that argument though it was more or less the only way to make it work considering the condition of the villain.
  16. What does 25 have to do with anything? The age they want people at mentioned in the article is 21. It may just be bs based on a comment JR made about believing people that age shouldn't be called up to the main roster.
  17. She won't stay dead, but I'm pretty sure as far Bendis is concerned he killed her.
  18. Just finished the Wolverine about an hour ago. Thought it was pretty good. The casting was good and I thought the third act was fine. I sort of get people someone's point about it feeling like Vince's higher power storyline, but considering the story it was based on went and how the character themselves was built in the film it should have been obvious. I thought the story was good and well built for the most part. The ending credits scene was great, probably the best I have seen from any of the Marvel films so far.
  19. Uncanny X-men #9 continued the mixed feelings the Bendis X-books have been giving me. The writing is pretty solid, but I really do hate some of representations he gives of characters and organizations. He really plays the Scott's team is in the right card way too much not offering any sort of actual balance to the people he uses as antagonists. Its quite annoying as it makes their personalities off and makes them look like massive jackasses/morons. I also have to say what he did at the end of the issue kind of pissed me off. Also read Indestructible Hulk #11. This seems to be dealing with the fallout of Age of Ultron. The issue is mostly set up, but it does seem to show some interesting potential. Also sort of explains why there is nothing with Red She-Hulk happening at the moment.
  20. Caught up to my monthly DC reads from the last two weeks.Thought Detective Comics Annual #2 was solid and gave a nice focus on Bullock. Superman Annual #2 was good with Lois actually leading the issue. First time I can recall so much focus on her character in the New 52. It was good, and I liked the set up it did for the upcoming Psi-War storyline Lobdell is doing in Action and Superman. It also continued the back-up from Action focusing on Clark's parents fighting Zod. That particular story has been interesting, but month long wait makes it harder to stick in the mind since its a such small part showing each issue. Also read JLD, Constantine, and Pandora which all play a part in Trinity War be it big or small All were at least decent though none of the stories were particularly strong. I actually think the main story plays a bit fast with so much musical chairs going on with the various teams. I can see why things are likely to be different line-up wise when Forever Evil is done.
  21. Had no idea he passed away. Loved him as Freeze. Its still voice I use when I read freeze in comics. RIP
