  1. Why not just keep them as this generation's Freebirds? Reigns makes a perfectly acceptable Gordy, Ambrose is a slightly better Hayes, and Rollins is a young modern Buddy Roberts.
  2. So would Ryback. I'd give Ryback a gimmick where he runs in on every match one week because he wants more steak. That said, if I was in charge, this is an idea on how I'd make titles more important: For the IC belt: I'd have someone win the belt (maybe Bryan) and I'd have him rebel by saying he's going to make this title more important "than HHH's lifetime achievement award" and basically have him shit on the World Champ. Normally folks would not like this here, but it's a way to say "I'm the real champ" and have Hunter's idea of giving him another belt to sidetrack him not work. Downside is you crap on your world title- but the payoff would make that temporary. You could have Orton getting upset over this and trying to hire bounty hunters to take out Bryan, or face wrestlers refusing title shots because they want the "real title", driving HHH mad.
  3. I've largely quit on wrestling these days- and I started almost 30 years ago thanks to the Midnight Express. I mostly check this board to see if it's safe to start watching again, and Eric Embry. This cost WWE 60 bucks as I was thinking about the Network, Not now.
  4. I now want to see Jarrett learning how to cheat- anyone got a vid of that?
  5. I'm not sure if the actual match would be great, but having Brock brawl with The Shield every week would be my favorite build to a match ever. It would be like watching a plane collide with a train while a helicopter full of gasoline tried to fly through a hoop of fire. If HHH would just watch some Freebirds stuff, making the Shield the modern-day Freebirds , you could have Ambrose or Reigns be a threat to the world title (Rollins is easily the Buddy Roberts of the group)- while being threats to the tag belts as well. Elevates everything.
  6. Eric Embry was one of my favorite wrestlers as a kid. Never knew he had the Memphis run until I saw it here. I'm just glad he didn't have the World Class curse.
  7. I think the Wyatts will become faces just by association- no matter what the WWE does. They might as well roll with it.
  8. La Parka was pretty damn popular with the folks I went to college with in the mid-90s. (To think that was when I discovered this board)
  9. Why didn't he make it higher? He's at least a guy who should have been a US title-level guy. His Mic skills weren't great, but he wasn't Hardy bad.
  10. When I first heard Bad News Barrett- I was thinking Barrett as some no-nonsense Bad News Brown-type character just beating the crap out of people. I'm so disappointed. Barrett is someone the WWE has no idea what to do with- very good worker and talker, should have a much better run then he has had,
  11. Throw Larry Z on team Pittsburgh, though you'd have chemistry issues with Bruno. As for Honolulu, replace King Curtis with Pat Tanaka? Team Minneapolis would be Verne, Curt Hennig, Rick Rude, Lightning Kid, and maybe Jesse Ventura (unsure if Brooklyn Park is close enough to count as a suburb)
  12. Kayfabe hometowns, but has to be a primary hometown for the guy's career. Suburbs in the Metro area count as the primary town, so Denton County can count for Dallas, or Venice Beach for LA, or Cobb County for Atlanta. No claiming Sgt.Slaughter represents Baghdad for example.
  13. Team Harlem Harlem Heat, Bad News Brown, Elijah Burke, ????
  14. I had this idea: imagine if there was a tourney of Survivor Series matches, the rules being that it had to be wrestlers from the same city/city area. (So say, Cobb County would count as part of Atlanta, but no counting the Hardys as from Charlotte) 5 guys The best team that comes to mind is Chicago: Road Warriors, One Man Gang, Lex Luger, CM Punk Atlanta would be second Freebirds, Goldberg, Big Bossman An LA Team would be awesome as well if it could be rounded out Hogan, Sting, Bockwinkel, the Fantastics
  15. Didn't Big Show once do a moonsault in his early days? I know I saw a missile dropkick.
  16. Under WWE ordenence wrestlers are not allowed to do the knifehand chops anymore. Yes one of the "banned" moves as per Vince. I'm pretty sure I've seen Punk and Ambrose use them recently, but not with any regularity. Had no idea they were banned. I thought that ban was just because Flair signed with TNA, and that it got lifted. Michaels used them left and right anyways.
  17. If he got DDP involved, and maybe Raven- then I'd help kickstart it.
  18. If a move gets banned by the WWE- folks use it less. Why we see fewer piledrivers and neck drops these days. +1 on the Cloverleaf love. If I ever had been able to become a wrestler, I would crib Malenko's Cloverleaf and Spinning Belly-to-Back so hard. I want the Slingshot Suplex and Flair delayed vertical to come back. Hangman's Neckbreaker- I remember Chono having a nice one.
  19. They couldn't even manage to do a proper turkey suit match. TNA I'm disappointed in you. Just realized I got my holidays confused- I'm ready for this year to be over, just like Dixie's accountants.
  20. One name, Iceman King Parsons. I think he would have done better in mid to late-90's than he did in World Class. Always felt a lack of size held him back in the 80s.
  21. I think your forgetting the breakout hit that was The Hurricane. Helms was over huge in the late summer/fall of 2001. Now that was a lot of fun. WCW folding killed Helms momentum though, because he was massively over in WCW by the end... he was going to be a bust out star for WCW if they stayed open, and he had to start from scratch as Greg Helms in WWF. I really thought he was going to be world champ in a year or two in WCW if it had stayed open. He was that hot. I thought he was going to be bigger than he was- but you can only do so much with a comedy gimmick, even if it means easy money.
  22. If what Larry Zybsico said about TNA is true- you could have the Food Stamps on a pole battle royal with all the X-division types.
  23. Put John Cena in Sting's position and Sting in John Cena's position, and you'd have very similar careers/fan reactions. A 2009 Cena/1992 Vader strap match would be awesome. prime Sting vs Umaga would also have ruled things.
  24. Jack Swagger today. He feels like he belongs in early-90's WCW
  25. I'll go so far as to say they're the best 6-man unit in the US since the Freebirds.
