  1. Hahaha. I told you I was pet-ty. I'm going to let you get back to watching your 3rd generation copy of Claudine.
  2. Birds of a feather....what they do, J.T.? They flock together! I wanted to use one of those good old nonsensical Negro quotes you seem to be fond of using. What happened to all the "we talk about you too" stuff? If the Tom stuff hurt, you not that well equipped for my level of pettiness. I know you a pretty soft target, but damn.
  3. No diss to OSJ...are you 47 going on 63? Not a single black person under 60 talks like that.
  4. I'm pretty sure all Toms know each other like Masons.
  5. I'm going to be petty
  6. Y'all were trading tips on how to eyebuck and tapdance properly for white people and didn't want me in on those secrets. That's good to know.
  7. I will say that you had an all-timer with me when you and supremebve caped for Amber Rose of all people. That had us in stitches. Also, when MADCAP pulled the "My parent was a Black Panther" like that (1) holds weight online, (2) that all Black Panthers were standup people, and (3) none of those guys infiltrated the Black Panthers causing the demise of the group right around time Huey Newton got on that narcotic. By his coonish "Black people only need to worry about checks" and "Celebs should go help in Flint and not worry about racism in the industry" responses, I know his dad was a rat at the very least. He also told his imaginary girlfriend about me so I feel honored and blessed.
  8. Two weeks ago, Pirates 5 was tracking at between 90 to 100 million and Baywatch was at 37-40 million. That's not bad considering that the holiday box office has underperformed a lot outside of Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  9. I'm pretty sure that's not the case, and that's what makes it funny. You're good since you never posted in TFW the past 10 or so years.
  10. No, that's fine. I think they feel like this would've been a Fight Pass show if they didn't have a Fox obligation. In that case, I would have seen worse Fight Pass cards. Going back to the Fairfax show (Mendes vs. Lamas) and the Manila show (Edgar vs. Faber) from a couple years ago around this time, I think the ceiling for afternoon shows in terms of ratings is between 500-600k. Those two main events were pretty strong in terms of anticipation (granted Fairfax was 389k avg). If you're going to do a late morning/afternoon card for US viewers, you're going to need a stronger main event even if a main event like this is mostly for local fans. The starpower underneath is always going to vary depending on the locale so that's kinda what it is. However, you will need to solidify the very top of the card regardless.
  11. Damn..Zack was at CinemaCon in late March (the 29th to be exact). I know that's kinda mandatory for certain folks, but unless it happened the next day, I dunno if I can soldier through that without breaking down in tears onstage. That's when the studio has to step in and send a surrogate.
  12. It would probably make more money domestically than the last one did as a Bollywood musical.
  13. I'm reading one of this guy's other reviews and it starts like this (FWIW a review of Colossal) I'm not saying I'm FOR people getting kidnapped and beheaded BUT....
  14. To be perfectly honest, 1/4 of our conversations usually consist of making fun of people from this board. So um, there is that. But I'm sure all you guys are well-meaning.
  15. I don't think she was ever cut.
  16. This is one of those make some really solid fights and get some international fighters bouts to fulfill contractual obligations. Also, continue rehabbing Gustafsson and get him a good name of his resume. Nothing blow away in terms of rankings implications and matchmaking, but I expect a pretty watchable card. Also, I can do some stuff afterwards once the card finishes. That's always good.
  17. Everyone for the Cavs had a shitty second half besides Tristan Thompson and Kyrie. They were willing to let Kyrie drive to the basket and make tough shots and stopped LeBron from doing it. Plus, Marcus Smart had a hell of a game. Those threes started to add up. If they didn't keep fouling Thompson, Boston would have probably won by at least 4 or 5. Boston had a few bad possessions and that play where J.R. hit the three after LeBron passed it on a double team was a stupid play. However, it ultimately didn't matter because Boston kept hitting clutch shots and Jerebko was everywhere. Not having Isaiah Thomas be a big defensive liability helped them out a lot. They forced so many tough, low pct. shots in the 2nd half and made LeBron ineffective as well. If they keep Cleveland within twelve points for the first 2 1/2 quarters, they have a shot to be competitive or at least have a better showing than the first couple games. They also have keep the Cavs from going to the line so much. They shot a ridiculous number of free throws and that's what kept Cleveland up going into the back half of the 4th quarter.
  18. Avery Bradley, y'all.
  19. The Celtics are having a better game (comparatively speaking of course) away from TD Garden and without Thomas.
  20. As for everyone's CGI complaints: IMO I dunno if Ridley having control is the best or worst thing for this franchise. When the ads first showed up, I expected the CGI right off the bat but it seems like everyone else was expect something different. However, Ridley Scott doesn't really shoot anything close quarters, in tight. I dunno if we're ever going to get that type of horror film ever again. Ridley Scott isn't that type of director anymore. You either take the awesome, beautiful locations and Dariusz Wolski's cinematography or you leave it. The people that will be able (or want) to shoot someone in suits are the folks that will probably never get a chance to direct an Alien film. Moreover, the directors that will probably take over for Ridley Scott will probably just double up on the CGI and bad effects. That's my worry moreso than having more than 2 or 3 sets. What kept me intrigued in Covenant is there were stretches where we didn't have anything Xenomorph related. The shower scene wasn't scary as it should have been. There was probably maybe one other thing. Otherwise, I was bit startled at points. Crudup's character was kinda undeveloped. However, I think that might be that none of the couples seem like they were actually married or had anything of substance beyond that. McBride kinda convinced me later in the film, but no one else really did. When someone would get killed off, it felt like they lost their off-and-on fuck buddy. Five minutes later, they would be over it. I guess they wanted us to assume that when something about to kill you that everything comes into perspective and you don't sweat the small shit (especially if you're basically trying to start your own civilization/settlement from scratch). TBH I think because something like Life doesn't have its own canon, it makes it easier to do that type of film you got from Alien. Honestly, that felt more intense than Covenant (this also falls into the less is more argument given it's two sets essentially). Also, more characters had purpose other than married couples shipping out and headed somewhere else. However, if you take into account that Covenant is just a one part clearly built around one central character (just like Ripley for 3 films and the one real shitty one where it was robot Ripley), it makes it easier to digest especially if you like the one central character. Now, the followups are going to be interesting as far as what they plan to do. I have a feeling Ridley won't be doing the next one. Does Fox and the producers have faith in a director to do more than Ridley Scott? The Chappie guy had the shortest rope in the history of directors taking over a storied franchise. He didn't get past concept art and a 10 page draft. IMO Fox might have more luck making this a 10 episode miniseries on FX. The formula that been recycled for several films just tired now. And I'm saying that as someone who liked Covenant. You can't redo Alien and Aliens or even Alien 3. If you make it episodic, there is no telling when someone is going to die. You also get a chance for better character development. If you want Sigourney Weaver or Lance Henriksen, throw them in as well. You're not limited to one plot that may or may not be all that interesting and is only there for people to get methodically killed off.
  21. I just made the Walter and David connection to Walter Hill and David Giler like 15 minutes into film. That's kinda clever.
  22. Update from Marc Raimondi's article: Going by the tweet referenced in the article, she is lucky all that happened was she got punched. That will get you stomped and kicked to sleep in the streets. Again, why is Angela Magana still on the roster? Did they forget she was on the roster?
