  1. I had the weirdest thing happen to me online yesterday. I have the high end apartment model and I loaded the online game from single player but was unable to leave the apartment. I'd walk up to the door and wouldn't get the "Exit Apartment/Enter garage" prompt. Instead, the door would actually open and I could explore the hallway. Why Rockstar would build the hallway, I have no idea. There was even a window in the hallway showing the more of the exterior. Anyway, I could even enter the elevator but it wouldn't go anywhere. All I had access to was the hallway, apartment, and elevator. Pulling up the phone would immediately minimize it again. The other weird thing was I still had the single player life bars. I dropped a grenade hoping I'd blow up and respawn. There was an explosion and I bounced off the wall, along with the intact (?) grenade. No "Wasted" screen, just my guy lying there. Then the screen went black and refused to load anything else.
  2. My takeaway so far is that I need to try rye whiskey, and I'm also wondering how far into Autumn/Winter I can grill.
  3. I caught Insidious Chapter 3 over the weekend. Not as good as the first two but a perfectly serviceable little horror film. It was a prequel so it had some neat tie-ins to the earlier films intertwined with the plot. The scene where The Man Who Can't Breathe stalks the girl in her room is fucking top notch.
  4. As this past Sunday's episode started, I remember thinking "Hmm, they haven't touched on bipolar Carrie yet this season." And then we got not only cryface Carrie, but off-her-meds-batshit-insane Carrie to boot. Awesome. Oh, and in case y'all missed it, some artists hired to provide Arabic graffiti in the previous week's ep managed to punk/critique/burn the entire show in epic fashion: http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/15/middleeast/homeland-grafitti-racist/ HA! First two episode, I was thinking the same thing, "Oh, Carrie must be on the meds for good." AND THEN. Great episode but holy shit, what a bad plan. "When I get too crazy, just give me a sedative and then my lithium." Yeah, unless the dude has a tranquilizer dart, a Dexter-style syringe or mad sleeperhold skills, no.
  5. Yes but it has far less impact on us in the states, being that it wasn't "our" history and because it happened over 700 years ago. Sorry, I should have qualified that better.
  6. Sure, but those nuances are lost on guys who saw him fall off the cell, go through flaming tables, etc. All they saw was the easy violence of it and thought "shit, I can do that."
  7. Before Foley: "I'd like to be a wrestler but I'm a fat slob with zero athletic skills so I guess I'll just stick to my job at the waste treatment plant." After Foley: "Shit, I can do that. Bring on the flaming tables! I'M FUCKIN HARDCORE." Yes I know it's not just Mick Foley and there's plenty of blame to go around, but I feel he brought the most attention to this style.
  8. Definitely, but I'm talking about one specific film that Jingus brought up. The impact of Braveheart getting facts wrong is far less than Sniper being fictional political propaganda.
  9. Not really the same. The events of Braveheart happened so long ago that it might as well be fiction. If Braveheart got facts wrong, who cares? American Sniper sent dangerous messages, like the war can be won if we just kill the right Evil Brown Sniper, to people who actually vote in elections today.
  10. The second sentence is the problem. Nobody in that film's target audience of slack jawed yokels understood that it was a Hollywoodized dramatization and not a fact-based retelling of this guy's life. Then again, his book was a collection of lies and tall tales, too, and you're only as good as your source material. Garbage in, garbage out and all that. Do we celebrate Clint for making a good movie or demonize him for making an irresponsible propaganda piece? It ain't Leni Riefenstahl but still.
  11. WE'RE MAKING MOVIES, PAL Remember that time Jamie Foxx didn't act like Django 24/7 so Quentin Tarantino punished him by rewriting the movie so he lost in the end?
  12. Scrolling down in this thread, I saw the TNA letterhead and, for a brief, shining moment, thought it might be their press release announcing that they were about to cease operations. Oh well.
  13. I want all TD celebrations, all the time. Don't want somebody to jump into the crowd, salsa or pretend to shit out a football? Play some fucking D and don't let them score. This isn't baseball where showing enthusiasm is "playing the game the wrong way." The only time I dislike celebrations is when guys celebrate while their team is losing. Ray Lewis was the undisputed KING of this bullshit. Dude, your team is still down by 14. Don't be the number three guy on a sack and then act like you just cured cancer.
  14. In Tabe's NFL, asking for a flag is a 10-yard penalty. I'm dead serious about that.Other rules in my league:1) Jumping offside stops the play, same as a false start 2) Throwing the ball into the ground on a screen pass is intentional grounding 3) kickoffs (when kicked from normal spot) that go out of the back of the end zone on the fly get spotted at the 35 4) Quarterback hand gestures, neck bobs, and leg raises designed to fake a snap are a false start 5) pick routes will be tightly called as offensive pass interference 6) "half the distance" offsides penalties are an automatic 1st down 7) Offensive pass interference will be more tightly called and will include loss of down as well 8) I'm not sure how to word this but somehow I want to limit yardage on defensive pass interference and eliminate intentionally underthrown passes to try and create PI calls the defense can't possibly prevent I can't agree enough with begging for flags being penalty worthy. Shit, make it 15 yards. The penalty is called "unsportsmanlike conduct" and crying to the ref for a flag and generally making a Jim Harbaugh-level ass of yourself is not the mark of a sportsman. It's also maddening to see the ref throw the flag after the complaint like, "welp, you convinced me!" I'd personally tighten up the rules for intentional grounding. When a QB is being dragged down and he weakly flings it away, fuck that noise. Oh, there was a receiver 10 yards from where the ball bounced? Come on dudes. Everybody in the stadium knows what the QB was trying to do there. Really, I'm for any new rule that puts quarterbacks back on the level of every other player, because they get way too much deferential treatment from rules designed to pump up offense instead of making it a fair game.
  15. This "Rock the Kasbah" movie sucks, right? The trailers give no indication of the plot at all, just "you guys like wacky Bill Murray, right?"
  16. Awesome episode. Hey, Morley brand cigarettes for the X Files fans. I guess it was that or Red Apples.
  17. It was a good idea to put Maggs with Rotten for that match, as both were Baltimore guys and likely worked each other before. Axl Rotten worked at the video store I went to a lot as a kid. I also used to see him waiting for the bus when I walked to grade school. Sorry to get into "cool story bro" territory.
  18. As long as we're discussing gear...I like Asuka, she's a great wrestler and a comely young lass, but what the fuck is she wearing in the ring? It looks like she coated herself in stickum and rolled around in David Lee Roth's closet. And I noticed she wears those gross toe shoes under her kickpads. What the actual fuck.
  19. Cognitive dissonance is a hell of a thing. I'm sure Vince has always told himself: When business is good, it's all my doing When business is bad, it's because of extenuating circumstances I mean come on. The official WWE line is STILL that WCW beat them only because they had Ted Turner's money and used stars Vince had made. He'll never admit, in just this one example, that somebody presented a better product that people enjoyed more and wanted to see more than his.
  20. Because Vince's mindset is that he'll tell the fans what they want, not the other way around. (god dammit)
  21. Holy shit that shirt is so 80s if you hold it up to your ear, you faintly hear "Africa" by Toto.
  22. On one hand, I came up in the 80s when the WWF wouldn't even acknowledge that other wrestling companies existed, so this kind of shit is mind-blowing. On the other hand, it's only WWE.com. When I see promo spots for the next Evolve iPPV on Raw, I'll be impressed.
  23. Nobody's watching Homeland this season? It's pretty good so far.
