  1. Over the winter I've taken to making slow cooker chili, and never the same way twice. Yesterday I pulled out the crockpot and dove into making some chili. I used a lb. of Mushroom & Swiss sausage, two cans of kidney beans, one can of diced tomatoes, elbow macaroni, a can of Tex-Mex Corn(corn with diced green and red peppers), a chopped Serrano pepper, and a packet of Spicy Kung Pao seasoning. It cooked for four hours with zero remaining liquid. I let it sit in the fridge for a few days before I get into it. One nice thing about Walmart lately has been the display of $1 bottles of different types of sauces. The week before I did the chili I put chicken breast, pork roast and sausage in the crock pot. After each was done I put teriyaki and mild bbq on the chicken, a bottle of Blues Hog Smoky BBQ on the pork roast and nothing on the sausage. SInce there was a tone of liquid left over I poured in a cup of Basmati rice and let it absorb all of the goodness of the pork and chicken. Almost an hour later and it was done with zero liquid left over. Crock pots make life a hell of a lot easier.
  2. Watched Opening Night yesterday. An interesting movie. Liked it a lot, but it required me to pay attention. Saw it on Max. Seems like a lot of Criterion Collection releases are on Max now.
  3. About ten years ago I worked a job where one part was delivering Vizio TVs that were replacements for models that had come defective from the factory. It seems that they've definitely improved their QC.
  4. My first exposure to Lewis was the series he did with Jamie Lee Curtis. Second exposure was him being interviewed on Stern(years later). RIP. The same age as my parents. The age thing is what hits the most.
  5. The Killing of a Chinese Bookie(Director's Cut). Enjoying the ever loving hell out of this. It's on MAX.
  6. Being a man of a certain age I remember when the miniseries aired, but I never saw a second of it. It definitely had to have aired during a Sweeps period(because that's when miniseries and "Very Special Episodes" seemed to air). I watched the first episode and liked it. Haven't watched the second episode yet. I like what I've seen so far.
  7. It's on Tubi(as are a veritable shit load of AH rip offs). The one that caught my eye was Amityville Karen.
  8. I watched Caveman at a drive-in on a double bill with The Blues Brothers in '80 or so(while sitting in a Pinto).
  9. I'm not familiar with the games so the trailer looks fine to me. Even better if its an enjoyable dumpster fire.
  10. The latest episode of Creepshow is just so damned amazing. I've also been enjoying the hell out of Loudermilk.
  11. NWA Championship Wrestling(08/12/78). You get proto-Midsouth with Ernie Ladd, Orndorff, Cowboy Bob Ellis, Ron Bass and Wish.com Bobby Eaton. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fe3K1A2LF5k
  12. Hopefully he'll be able to ELevate himself.
  13. My biggest nitpick with that scene is that the diaper van is a Dodge and the shot of the shifter moving is from a Ford.
  14. The only way to make that more French is if every character were smoking Gitanes.
  15. A trip to TWP got me through the first leg of my "Amish Run" today.
  16. Watching The Beanie Bubble. Really enjoyed it. I'll be damned if Zach Galifianakis doesn't look like a smaller John Goodman.
  17. I can see the John Walton after too much of The Baldwin Sisters "recipe" now that you mention it.
  18. Currently enjoying The Brothers Sun and Griselda.
  19. I don't know how many fellow Meatsacks there are here, but this week Dan Cummins' Timesuck covers "The Curse of The Von Erichs". It's three hours long, it's funny and Andrei Chikatilo makes an appearance.
  20. That looks really good. Now only if they had gotten David Spade to play Sam Spade.
  21. Struggling through The Curse. Emma Stone and Nathan Fielder are so fucking hateable.
  22. I got to attend a Fox Pilot Watch at Notre Dame in mid '96. We were shown two pilots(one for "Party Girl" and one for a show about a casino). We got some swag for attending and I chose a t-shirt that showed every character of The Simpsons. I liked the casino show and didn't like Party Girl, and Party Girl is the one that got a really short run.
  23. If there is a Formal Attire Match the outcome will be a DQ because one of the wrestlers wore white after Labor Day and before Memorial Day.
  24. Yesterday to celebrate Christmas I watched A Christmas Story and the 1938 version of A Christmas Carol. Those were great, what wasn't that good was A Christmas Story 2. I made it fifteen minutes before tapping out. Peter Billingsley should be the only Ralphie.
  25. At the end of a hectic year I find myself being glad that it's almost over. Between health scares with both parents and the ensuing recertification hoops to jump through with my dad it made for a fertile backdrop of alcoholism and snarkiness that almost cost me my job.
