  1. Yeah, I would hope they would take away at least one title -- maybe the 2005 one. But nothing will come of this. I feel like the NCAA will probably say this was an academic issue and not an athletic one since other students could take the fake classes as well. Vacating a Final Four is one thing. They won't vacate a title, though. Especially for a school like UNC.
  2. Is the list just who is the better player right now? Or is it factoring in things like would you rather have a young Klay Thompson right now at a much cheaper salary than an old and possibly busted Kobe with a ludicrous contract? If Kobe can come back somewhat close to how he was performing when he tore his Achilles, then he's at least close to a top ten guy. But if you're factoring in other things and if you're a GM, you'd probably still rather have Thompson or most of the other 39 guys in front of Kobe on the list.
  3. Which movie is the best out of Con-Air, Face/Off, and The Rock?
  4. Yeah, they really screwed up with how they handled Locke. He was such an awesome character for the first season or two. Then they just ruined him. I also still wonder what would have been different if the actor playing Mr. Eko hadn't wanted to quit the show.
  5. Man, I don't get it. I thought the Gotham pilot was pretty bad. And it's not just the winking at the fans. Like, a lot of the dialog was awful. The whole "slovenly and lackadaisical" exchange with Gordon and Bullock was cringe-worthy. Everything involving child Bruce/Selina was also pretty ridiculous. I don't know. I'll give it a few more weeks because I always give comic/genre TV shows a chance. But I did not consider that a promising start.
  6. So what's the worst Mel Brooks movie? Dracula: Dead and Loving It?
  7. While on the topic of Cruise, I just watched Edge of Tomorrow. I am now really mad I didn't go see this in theaters. I thought it was great. It was funnier than I thought it was going to be, and it had some really solid action in it. Who knew Groundhog Day would work so well as an alien invasion flick?
  8. Not a fan of Big Fish or Beetlejuice? Yeah, I was gonna say I mostly agree with this. But I love Big Fish.
  9. So Supergirl is going to be on CBS? The CSI/NCIS network? That... seems like a terrible fit.
  10. I always thought the end of TDK should have been like the Two Face origin in the animated series. Just have the end of the movie be Harvey waking up in the hospital and seeing his face. Then Rises should have just been about Two Face -- with Catwoman still involved somehow.
  11. I can kind of understand it. I mean, for a lot of people 89 Batman has the nostalgia factor going for it. And I definitely agree that Keaton was better than Bale. Also, I'm one of those people who felt that the end of The Dark Knight is kind of mess and rushes through all of the Two Face stuff. But fifth best Batman movie? Even with animated included, I don't know.
  12. Okay, I have to know. What four films do you have in front of it?
  13. Yeah, you're right. People like Fran Fraschilla talk about how much the world has caught up to USA in basketball. And, sure, since the original Dream Team, other countries have made huge strides. But most of the teams who have given us trouble the past ten years have had the same guys for pretty much all ten years. They're getting old, falling off, and retiring. I mean, when the Gasols and a couple of those guards retire, who will Spain even have left? Rubio and Ibaka? That's not exactly an imposing core going forward. Meanwhile USA has guys like Durant, Westbrook, Irving, etc. Young guys who are either superstars or on the verge of being superstars. Even when Carmelo, LeBron, Wade and that group retire, we won't exactly be hurting for talent.
  14. Sooo, apparently I completely missed that this tournament was even going on until now. So I'm voting in this round, but I have one question regarding the Other Hero Bracket... Where is The Shadow?! Come on!
  15. Yeah, it does seem like nobody is talking about it. But I guess it's not that big of a surprise when the best of the best in the NBA aren't even playing in it. I mean, without LeBron or Durant, it was never going to get that much traction in the news. Well, unless USA loses. Then they'll talk about it.
  16. Well, um. I guess we don't have to worry about losing to Spain anymore.
  17. I'm fine with him when he's telling us who all of these players are. But I just get irritated when he's doing color commentary and blows calls in the game and misinterprets the action. I also feel like he wants USA to lose a lot of the time. I don't know. I just wish someone else was doing color and Fran was the sideline reporter just cutting in here and there with interesting facts and stories about players from other countries.
  18. I've been surprised by Irving's play. He's been really great all-around. He can get to the rim at will, has been shooting as well as the Splash Bros. from outside, and his defense has been really solid. After having a somewhat down season, he's been impressive. Also, I hate Fran Fraschilla. A lot.
  19. I saw a story somewhere that said Universal had the rights to Namor at some point. Have those reverted back to Marvel as well?
  20. Yeah, I can understand him just letting the "I don't know, maybe" line slip out when talking to his son about an impossible situation. The dumbest thing in the movie is Clark letting him die in a tornado. I don't care how much Kevin Costner shakes his head "no", Superman saves his dad in that situation.
  21. What are people's opinions on Rio Bravo versus El Dorado? I mean, they're basically the same movie. So which do you prefer and why?
  22. I don't think Love is a top 4 player either. But there is such a dearth of really good big men in the league right now that I think he becomes more important to a team than guards and wings that are better than him. Like in a fantasy draft I would rather take Love in the first round and end up with Irving or Lowry as my guard than take CP3 first and end up with Gortat or a Lopez or Plumlee brother as my big.
  23. You guys misread what he posted: I think for a team that doesn't already have a championship, you can't think in terms of hypotheticals, especially with Lebron already 30 and with a ton of miles. Barring a major surprise or catastrophe, Love will be better than Wiggins this year, and if they sign him, probably for at least the next two. Wiggins' greatest strength is going to be his defense on wing players, which is a skill that takes at least a year or two to adjust to an NBA level. I know it's a different position, but look at Anthony Davis. He was one of the greatest college defenders of a generation, and during his rookie year he looked like a deer on rollerskates while trying to defend a pick and roll. I think anyone who thinks that Wiggins was going to come in and be able to guard the best player every night so that Lebron could take it easy was fooling themselves a little bit. I also think that calling Love Bosh 2.0 is underselling him a little bit. By multiple advanced metrics, Love is a top 4 player in the NBA, something Bosh was never close to. Also, many stats point to Love being an average defender, and probably an under appreciated one on one defender (although an admittedly poor help defender, due to him always looking to rebound). I think trading two players with very high ceilings and a draft pick is something I would do every time for a player like Love. I think Love will play alongside LeBron very well. He's a much better outside shooter than Bosh, and he's one of the best rebounders in the league. Yeah, he's not the best on-ball defender, but defensive rebounding is also part of having a good team defense. So, in a lot of respects, he fits with LeBron better than Bosh ever did. Not to mention the fact that Kyrie will be on the wing as well. With LeBron kicking the ball out to Love and Kyrie, the Cavs could make a lot of 3's this year, and probably at a very efficient clip. I really want to see how good Love could be playing with someone like James, though. I just keep remembering a couple of years ago when he was having 20-20 games all the time and he even had a 30-30 game one night. He's still very capable of being that kind of player.
  24. Yeah, I could easily see a Silva/Diaz fight being terrible. They could both just wait to counter-punch and end up mugging and taunting more than actually throwing strikes.
