Another gem from my 1995 rewatch (timestamped): Buddy Landel gets brutally honest about what happened to his career and his life.

For a little context, Shawn Michaels and Jeff Jarrett sent in respective promos a week or so early as Buddy Landell was suppose to face the winner of Jarrett vs. Michaels at IYH2 for the WWF IC title at SMW's SuperBowl of Wrestling card on August 4th. Well the promos Shawn, the eventual winner of that match, sent a week before and this week reference mysteriously what Landell did to Shawn ten years earlier in I'm guessing Mid South when Shawn was a young enhancement talent. Shawn didn't exactly leave in any clues for folks who weren't aware of any insider stuff. Anyway, back then, Landell was a hot young superstar. Not so much now in 1995. Buddy drops the heel act he's been doing since coming back to Smoky Mountain and now as part of Cornette's Militia and talks about the struggles in his life that led him to this moment wrestling Shawn Michaels for the WWF IC title.

The few stumbles and nervousness in his voice makes this realer than what you would see in wrestling, at this time especially.

The irony is that Shawn probably showed up completely blacked out on pills and only had his Jesus moment after about a hundred more of those. Anyway, good, earnest stuff and I'm glad they had the camera close in and Jimmy get cut out of the picture.

Hell, it's not even worse than half of the Road Warrior Hawk promo catalogue...

[content wise, anyway.  Delivery's another matter:  Hawk is actually pretty high on my all-time Most Underrated Promo list]

Really, my only complaint (as usual) is that she's another wrestler named Storm and she's not attempting to claim being related to Lance, Toni, Devon, et al.
