for the record, nothing seems to be solved.. although my Chrome insists on giving me a warning prompt if I end up accidentally on the non https version of the board, and then I click through and it brings me to the https page

pretty confident I can use mobile or firefox if need be

I've never set up an Invision Community but I believe the majority of the errors are rooted in the fact that stuff like the base url and offline url point to "http" instead of "https" which pretty much all modern browsers aren't going to allow. Playing around with overrides locally to replace all "http" references with "https" pretty much solves things on a personal level but maybe someone with a little bit more knowledge about Inivsion Community setups could point to how to fix the site's configuration.
