  1. Wait Lita? Surely they must be joking? Its 2015, is there ANYONE on this board who can still admit (while keeping a straight face) that her in-ring work was good. She had a good character. Okay fine. She was a good heel and face. Fine. Good promo (at times). Okay fine, I get it. But surely aside from a FEW crisp spots at the start of her WWE run can we all admit that she shouldn't training ANYONE in ring? promos, how to get over, etc. fine. I disagree, but fine. The in-ring stuff? No way.
  2. The New Day just popping up randomly backstage and celebrating and being overly positive is hilarious and usually leads to good stooging. Hope to see more of it. The Lana face turn is FUCKING TERRIBLE. Christ why is this happening? I am not a big Lana fan at all, but SURELY there has to be a better way to turn her face (if that must even be done in the first place) than making her completely corny and stripping away anything that got her over in the first place. Once her Russian accent is gone...she is just generic blonde #4972918009320 on the roster. NO THANK YOU! I tapped out after the Roman Reigns 24/7 promo and wish I didn't. Missed Zayn/Cena.
  3. Everyday. Some from or fashion. Everytime I climb a ladder climb it nice and slow while being 'super exhausted'. I also pretty much explain use pro wrestling to help explain ANYTHING. I.E. The Kardashian don't have to do a lot or be super hard workers to make millions- Hulk Hogan did it for years. I describe bad people (not like Hitler or anyone) as heels, etc. So yeah..every day legit pro wrestling is somehow in my life if I am not watching it. I also think about different angles and how The Network can improve and all this other random stuff.
  4. Yeah I am off the Bray boat. Too many high profile losses mixed with him and WWE being sure to repeat every Bray spot everytime he is on TV and its just whack.
  5. The Jerry Springer Show was a complete bust and I am not watching again. As a trip down memory lane- its fine. However, Its hard for me to watch a show ON THE INTERNET called TOO HOT FOR TV and things are blurred and beeped out. WWE owns The Network and content and should really cut the shit when it comes to profanity, etc. It just doesn't make any sense to me. Very lame, but if I was 10 years I would have dug it- so perhaps I am outside the demo for a show like this.
  6. It's late over here and I have work tomorrow, so I will add more thoughts later. As threads as being closed down when a Johnson/Sports Entertainment debate comes up (as they often tend to derail the thread), I thought I'd create this one. So what's going on with this guy? Mighty Mouse claims to be doing all of what is being asked for him while as it pertains to his media rounds, while making these rounds with zero charisma and with the obvious enthusiasm of a child doing his Saturday morning chores. Might Mouse has said he doesn't care if the fans watch him or not and that he only has one job and that's to fight. Dana White on the other hand doesn't care if people leave during a UFC main event that features Mighty Mouse headlining. Might Mouse and his fans thinks Zuffa/UFC should do more promotion of him while neither go into details of what 'more promotion' actually means and I believe each is using it as a scapegoat to escape the real problem with Might Mouse. Its not size, its charisma. Both promoter and fighter acting as though this is a non-issue in a REAL sport is just mind boggling to hear/consider in the 21st century. I've heard people say that the 'simple' solution is for Mighty Mouse to change his style to a more exciting style. What stand and bang like an idiot and get knocked out in the first round? But there is more to it then just switching up styles. There is no drama in any of his fights. Watching him fight, is like watching an instructional video. Everything is perfect, and really skilled, but not entertaining. When you have limited opponents, and exceptional skills, you have to create the drama. When a fighter is as dominant as Mighty Mouse, the fighter needs to manufacture the drama. The drama is created via personality as people now have a reason to watch you win or lose. People want to see Mayweather get his ass kicked. People wanted to see a mentality unstable Tyson knock people out. Pro wrestling is FULL of sell out shows based solely on the tried and true narrative of heels getting their comeuppance and babyfaces getting redemption. The matches might not always been good, but the story outside the ring sold out (and continues to sell out) arenas worldwide. I've said this in the past and would like to quote myself talking about Johnson and his complaints leading into UFC 174: Listening to Johnson recently talk about how he isn't going to talk smack or anything to try and sell the fights left me completely puzzled. For some reason, he believes that doing interviews and making the mandatory rounds, while remaining completely uninteresting, is enough for a strong buyrate. Yes you did do a ton of interviews DJ, but what did you say in those interviews to get people interested in buying the PPV? Here’s a basic breakdown from DJ’s interviews to promote UFC 174: I’ve had the best training camp ever I’m in the best shape It’s going to be a great fight and mentioning 1000 times how much he respects Ali Bagautinov He doesn’t need to promote in an over the top way like Sonnen, but he (and most of the current champs) need to stop this “golly gosh, gee whiz, I, I don’t talk trash, I don’t bark, I don’t want to be disrespectful to my opponent” crap when they’re interviewed. It sucks watching fighter after fighter piss away the promotional opportunities the UFC provides them and none is doing it better than Might Mouse. How is this guy going to become a bigger star and get fan interest if he and the promoter are both being too busy being heels by telling the fans to 'fuck off'? Why are neither Johnson nor Zuffa interested in making money off this guy? Why does Dana White think that THOUSANDS of fans walking out during the main event is no big deal? Randy Couture has talked about fighters branding his/herself, Chael Sonnen has shown that having a forgettable MMA career and fading into obscurity can be offset by having a dynamic personality, and GSP has shown that having a million boring fights in a row with decisions left-and-right doesn't stop UFC 129 level of attendance and high levels of media/sponsor interest from happening. So why are people acting like the Sports-Entertainment aspect of this business does not apply to Mighty Mouse and that all he should/needs to do is show up and fight? Mighty Mouse is at a disadvantage and he clearly needs to work to counter that. Instead he refuses to do so.Point blank refuses to promote himself. So my question is, how should UFC promote Mighty Mouse? How should Might Mouse promote himself? Where is the line of sports and entertainment drawn when it comes to MM? The guy is drowning and it seems as though both him and Zuffa don't give a shit.
  7. This. There is no way to do this without making all the guys look stupid/homoerotic. The best thing WWE would have done (and this is totally 100% Monday Morning Quarterbacking the situation) is have Sheamus lose, refuse to pucker up, and then Rikishi's music hits. Sheamus tries to fight his way out of the situation only for Ziggler and Rikishi to set Sheamus up for the Stink Face. Crowd pops, Sheamus gets what was coming to him, and Ziggler doesn't look like a moron. This then gives fire to the heel to come back for blood instead of ass kissing which raises the stakes for the eventual rematch at Payback. Re: PPV Overall it was fine. Lana waving to the crowd and smiling was too forced. Rusev now has two losses in a row to Cena and a 3rd is coming and soon he will lose his girl. Not everyone needs to be a singles star. Not everyone needs to run face. Sometimes if you having a pairing or trio that just WORKS...break them up when they lose steam. There is STILL a lot WWE can do with Lana/Rusev before dissension is teased. Naomi's light up shoes are cool and fuck the haters. The WWE/Divas have a strong tendency of ensuring all Divas look alike. Good for her for standing out and adding something different to a standard Diva outfit. The shoes turning color during impact (as one shoe did after Naomi kicked Brie square in the mouth) makes for a nice visual. The tag match was really good and was the best match of the night in my book.
  8. As mentioned earlier pro wrestling has a terrible track record of handling progressive issues. Not even 15 years ago TNA was running homophobic, racist, xenophobic, and misogynistic angles. The terrible (in real life) handling of the women and the minority talent (discrimination lawsuits left and right) does not tell me that TNA is going to do this correctly. With Bill Corgan's 'progressive' angles filtered through Dixie's conservative mindset...TNA will be off-the-air by the end of this year.
  9. WWE could use this opportunity to give it to Neville as he is the only guy who actually needs the momentum. Killings and Stardust are what they are. However Neville is the only one without WWE 'cred'. Barrett is a multiple time IC and tag team champion, Sheamus is a fromer IC, US, and WHC champion and guys like Ziggler, Harper, and Ambrose all held titles in WWE. WWE should give this shine to Neville, but I expect it to go to Barrett.
  10. Am I the only one NOT impressed by Eva Marie's 'training' videos? I know the bar for Divas wrestling is pretty low, but SURELY it hasn't hit ground level yet (especially with all the good work coming out of NXT and with The Bellas finally finding their stride) where someone doing a bunch of half-hearted quasi lucha moves (with zero charisma attached) is popping the internet. I know there are Bob Fish fans out there (why I do not know), but the soft lucha style infused with the LA Boxing cardio kicking boxing techniques mixed in have to begin being phased out of the WWE Diva style. Eva Marie is a natural heel. All the guys want to fuck her so the women automatically hate her. This is a girl who really good get over working a less-is-more style and really playing to the crowd rather then doing empty springboard spots that look like she is just going through the motions. When did becoming Candice Michelle 2.0 become the benchmark? I do not like what I am seeing.
  11. Taz is gone? Awesome. Great news. Should have happened a LONG time ago.
  12. TNA kinda operated in the same way at the start. Sure they had Jarrett, Truth, Styles, AMW, XXX, Abyss, etc. as the mainstays, but then there would be random appearances from Juvi, Teddy Hart, LOD, etc. The problems with the booking, etc. are well documented so I won't go into that. If GFW takes the approach Jarrett is talking about, it will definitely keep his promotion fresh. GFW will need to be sure to keep its top 10 guys strong. Doing what TNA did would be a HUGE mistake and would be Jarrett repeating his problems. GFW can't have its version of Monty Brown running around kicking ass and looking like a WHC only to be 'jumped in line' by the new flavor of the month. If GFW 'stays the course' and books their top 10 guys strong...the revolving undercard (Tag Team Champion issues an open challenge, random exhibition matches that mean nothing in the grand scheme of things, tournaments for a 100,000 check/ shot at a NJPW, CMLL, AAA championship, etc.). There is so much that can be done. We shall see how its handled.
  13. Didn't Samoa Joe get all pissy for TNA not using his buddy's catering service after promising him? Its time to stick it to the man have the that same dude cater GFW!
  14. Everyone involved in the Divas tag was off tonight. Holy fuck! Cameron is so annoying that Kane gave her (and the other ladies in the room) exactly what they wanted in order to get her to shut up. That honestly should be Cameron's gimmick. Annoying the fuck out of people until she gets her way. WWE has done a lot to make me not care about Bray Wyatt. I say that WWE has put in the same (if not more) commitment into burning Wyatt as TNA did with Samoa Joe. How hard is it really? Feed Hunico (not Sin Cara) , Slater, Fandango, Rose, Truth, and Ryder to Wyatt. No even-steven booking. No trading shots. Just Wyatt dominating all those guys and THEN cutting a promo about being the face of fear- blah, blah, blah. Right now its more like 'yeah right!' instead of 'yeah! right!'. WWE needs to change that.
  15. What's the difference between WWE Lists and WWE Countdown? Why would the company release zero information on some of these shows?
  16. IIRC RVD is on WWE 'retainer'. Lance Hoyt is also the ONLY wrestler actually announced for GFW. Carlito, Masters, and London would be good ex-WWE pickups.
  17. That was a fun show. Got a photo with Clay Guida and one of the ring girls. I also go to go cageside. The only 'downside' of the evening was not getting a chance to talk to Luke Thomas (who kept the same reaction all night) as he sprinted out of the building once the main event was over. During the Mitch Clarke match, the UFC fans started with the Lil John "What" and Ric Flair woo's. UFC FN was turning into a post WM Raw...and I was getting scared. Once a 'Guida' chant broke out during the match (you know THE MATCH THAT DIDN'T INVOLVE CLAY GUIDA) I knew it was all down hill from there...lucky it wasn't. RE: Raging Al Listen, no one was booing Al. The fans were booing the situation and the bad judging. Everyone thought Jorge won the fight and Al being giving the W was bullshit. When there’s a somewhat controversial decision, some of the crowd will keep booing all the way through the interview. It’s not fun, but a professional would know the crowd isn’t booing him, they’re booing the situation. It happens all the time. It sucks but telling them to fuck off isn’t going to make things better. It’s another douchebag move for Iaquinta, a repeat offender who’s quickly climbing the DB rankings ever since the hotel room destruction. On the flip side, I suppose it does increase his value as a "heel"
  18. This is a good thing for WWE and its viewers. No more distractions. No more of this pseudo-revolution bullshit stinking up the Divas' segments. If the world is lucky then this won't be a Terry Funk retirement.
  19. I would love to meet the person who isn't a Dean Ambrose fan after viewing Smackdown!
  20. Anyone following the 'Michael Cole's Shoe' account on Twitter? I'm not.
  21. So what were the fans chanting during the Divas match that has everyone up in arms? I was watching on my laptop so I heard a number of chants- I just have no idea what was chanted. Also, why are there no crazy post Royal Rumble and SummerSlam crowds? What city started the crazy WM crowd stuff? Was that Mania after the Bryan stuff? I remember post WM wasn't always as nuts. Is Daniel Bryan in part to blame for the post-WM standard that has been set?
  22. Tonight would have been the perfect night for 'anal bleeding' to return to the WWE lexicon.
  23. I think all bad commentators should be written off of TV like Cole was tonight. Granted, Cole will be back and within 3 weeks of his return he will be cracking lame jokes like it all never happened. For the last 5 minutes or so I have been thinking of creative ways to write Lawler off of all WWE programming going forward.
