  1. The Spokane Indians have been great about working with the Spokane Tribe to make sure they are respectful of the culture, symbolism and all that stuff. They incorporated the Salish language a few years ago into logos and so on. They've got a display up on the concourse talking about the tribe. And they just generally do things the right way. Do the Brett brothers still have part-ownership of the team?
  2. My mistake, since there wasn't a quote box I thought you were responding to the most recent art posted. I apologize. No worries, but I did have quite a laugh imagining an art director telling an artist how to draw an anatomically correct Doop
  3. My mistake. He has teeth, so that would rule out the meth... Ecstasy must be a helluva drug...
  4. I was actually talking about the Spidey artwork. Doop has always looked like a big green turd and they got that right. And to further rag on Ramos, the last time I saw a facial expression like that was on a meth-head who was being strapped to a gurney by a half-dozen of Albuquerque's finest.
  5. I can't imagine that ANYONE ever loved going to the Kingdome. Despite the hype, Seattle actually has less rain during baseball season than New York or Boston. Playing the game in a concrete box is an abomination. Fun fact, Dave Kingman lodged a ball in the ceiling that never came down. When they tore the thing down I was hoping someone would find it...
  6. Hell, I'm going to have to get another digital camera. The pics off the scanner are just too blurry and I can't resist showing this stuff off. I'm currently awaiting figures of the original (Lev Gleason) Daredevil, the Hangman from MLJ Comics and Timely's The Thunderer*. I just got an unexpected royalty check, so I should probably e-mail my guy in the Philippines and figure out what to have him tackle next... I'm thinking that Blackjack and the Web from MLJ Comics and a couple more Serpent Society figs. maybe Black Racer and Fer-de-Lance as the current collection is pretty much lacking the ladies, (all the male members except Cottonmouth and only one (Diamondback) female). Yep, there goes $300... * Yeah, I know, he only appeared in a couple of issues and just ran around and yelled a lot, but he did have a pretty cool costume...
  7. That is most cool. We lost our little guy, Fantom just before Christmas, (a stray dog got him and severed his spinal column); anyway, I took it pretty hard, but we went to the Humane Society on Tuesday in hopes of finding another long-haired, black kitten. Wasn't one there, but there was a neutered male approx. 7-9 months of age that reached out of the cage to grab my sleeve. He's a short to medium hair, and while they said he was a year old, we think he's quite a bit younger based on his behavior (trying to suckle fingers, drinking milk from a baby bottle, etc.) Well after the attempt to grab my sleeve we just had to take Twister home and in three days he's fit in like he's always been here. He's just a little sweetheart and gets along with the older cats just fine. And THAT is my good news.
  8. That is some seriously hideous artwork. Surely there are artists available that understand the fundamentals of anatomy?
  9. I'm assuming that the "real arguments" would be Ks to Ws and W-L? His WAR puts him at 20th all-time and I think we can all agree that W-L is probably the worst single stat to evaluate a pitcher. Ryan played an extraordinarily long time and about half of his career was on fairly mediocre teams. Yes, he did allow a ton of walks, but when you get out of the inning with no damage, those walks really don't mean a lot. Is he a top-5 of all-time? Certainly not. Are there really legit arguments against him being in the HOF? Not really, when you look at the numbers closely.
  10. Oh, i agree with that. You could say ryan was like a pitching Dave Kingman, given the K number coupled with the BB numbers. Tou could argue also that Ryan could be one of th HOFers already enshrined that is a PED user. The pitching version of Dave Kingman? That's a bit harsh, but point taken. One thing you have to take into account with Ryan is that he spent at least 50% of his career pitching for teams that were not all that good. As far as the PRD using, nothing's been proven, and he may well be a genetic freak of some sort, but even if he were a user, Ryan was pretty much beloved by all throughout his career. I personally don't think that a player's personality should have a damn thing to do with whether or not they belong in the HOF, after all, everyone (myself included) loved Kirby Puckett until we found out what he was really like. Funny anecdote apropos of nothing, way back in the very early seventies a bunch of buddies and I were going to go to a game at the Kingdome for the first time. We had a choice of seeing one of the two Angels aces, and of course we opted to go the night Frank Tananna was pitching as he was obviously way better than Nolan Ryan was ever going to be... BTW: The Kingdome was the worst place in the world to watch a baseball game, absolutely awful in every respect.
  11. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Now, kicking out any writer that makes a sweeping generalization such as "I won't vote for anyone that played in the steroid era." would be an excellent next step.
  12. "It works"? Which of these two knuckleheads said that? Any voting system that omits the greatest hitter of all-time is seriously flawed. Personally, Bonds was very nice when I met him (a complete opposite of what I'd been told to expect), Roger Clemens was and is a complete douchenozzle, but to keep him out of the HOF is ludicrous. Randy Johnson will likely go in on the first ballot and he deliberately threw away half a season because he was "disrespected". To me, that's far more heinous an offense than sticking a needle in your ass. I don't care what you're using, you hit over 600 HRs you go in the HOF. For that matter, despite being a complete douche, Raffy still should go in.
  13. Two blocks from Wrigley? How cool... Don't suppose you were in one of those apartments where you could watch the games from the upper floors? I personally can't think of anything cooler than watching a live MLB game from my bedroom window... On another note, at least you never had to worry about Big Frank killing your team in the WS... ;-)
  14. Did he eat all the attendees at the con?
  15. Every bit as embarrassing as the old Veterans Committee was in the Frankie Frisch years. At least the Frisch cronies were paying back favors and honoring their friends. The writers are grandstanders who think it is all about them.
  16. Kicking out from the Grim Reaper at age 90, way to go Mae!
  17. I think you're on to something here. My point (which obviously flew over FSW's head, not really surprising, but still...) was that even to the target demographic for WWE (20-somethings with disposable income), Too Cool was hardly the phenom he seems to remember. The argument of "It's on tv every week" is about as stupid as one can get when you factor in editing and WWE employees exhorting people to stand up, dance, hold up signs, shit on themselves, or whatever Pavlovian reaction is called for. I'd actually argue that a loyal audience that can be seen to react week after week is a much better barometer. Granted, the 200 or so folks that were at the bar every Monday might be too small to be considered a decent sampling, but I'd put a lot more credence in an eyewitness than in the false nostalgia of someone who was likely throwing their pacifier at the screen during most of the 1990s. So...you're really saying that how the crowd responds to a wrestler shouldn't be a measure of how popular they are? No, I think that I said just the reverse.
  18. The Attitude Era was pretty clearly marketed at teenagers, John. Maybe the level of the humor was, but you really need to take some marketing classes if you don't think that the target demo was 20-somethings with disposable income. I will grant that teens with $$$ was also a target, but you don't sell a prime-time program to any network by saying that you're focusing on anything but a demo with $$$.
  19. Think I'll go watch "Coven" and see what some interesting bitches are up to as opposed to, well, you know...

Anyway, to your point, one can get away with lots of filler when a card is perceived as an "event". However, such filler was neither very good nor should it be fondly memorialized as being any better than it was. I realize that FSW gets upset when someone calls attention to the illogic in his trolling rants, but enough was really enough. FSW can run along and play with his (WTF were those pillow things called, "wrestling buddies"?) "wrestling buddies" of Too Cool, but more people are likely to want to discuss some of the great tv matches we've been seeing. Hahaha you've lost your fucking mind. Stick to the scat porn fanfic. "Fanfic"? Son, you'll have to wait on a LOT of tables before you earn a tenth what I do writing.

  22. It amazes me how badly you miss the point. The point is that Too Cool have more charisma and were more over than guys higher up the card today. Not "Bring back Scotty and Sexay!". More charisma and were more over? WTF are you smoking and where can I buy some? I recall even the casual fans that would gather at Shorty's to watch RAW when it was the hip thing to do would use the appearance of Too Cool as time to go get another drink or use the restroom. Is there a more stupid argument than "me and my friends didn't like them, so nobody did"? No, there likely isn't unless it would be the sort of stupid sweeping generalizations that you seem so fond of. The crowd I speak of were hardly friends, I am remarking as an observer of the time period of the reaction of their target audience. Granted, you were probably still shitting yourself back then and are speaking out of a false sense of nostalgia or just trying some simple trolling, but be that as it may. The fact remains that the rather large audience of 20-somethings, (which I hope we can agree was the target demographic of the "Attitude Era"), did not seem overly impressed with Too Cool. For that matter, I can't recall ever seeing a single "Tool Cool" item of apparel, and I tend to notice wrestling-related stuff. However, I'm not stupid enough to say that any of this indicates that Tool Cool wasn't over. I'm sure they were with at least a segment of the viewers, they didn't happen to be with any of the viewers that I saw first hand, but obviously they wouldn't have been kept on the roster as long as they were if there wasn't at least some positive feedback. (You see that's how you avoid making a sweeping generalization and an ass out of yourself.) You're welcome. You've missed the point spectacularly. Again. You are talking about some dudes in a bar. The same dudes in the same bar. 2 Cool were over in every arena for a year. Crowds were loudly behind them. Louder then, for an opener, than they are now for a midcard act. That matters quite a lot more than your anecdotal gibberish. And since you keep trying, weakly, to make me look bad - I'd advise you keep the "shitting yourself" out of it given your scatalogical leanings. "Some dudes in a bar"? Yes, these were the very same people that WWE was attempting to market to... However, their opinion doesn't coincide with your own, so obviously this first-hand "anecdotal evidence" is trumped by your experiences following Tool Cool from arena to arena? What were you, a demented groupie? Oh, you didn't actually see these massive pops first-hand? Oh, so this would then be "anecdotal gibberish"; except that since you're the one serving it up we should accept it as gospel? "Trying to make you look bad?" Son, I don't even have to try...
  23. Why is he wearing the Goldust get up? To get you all hot and bothered?
