Speaking of such things: Mike Shanahan on RG3 and Daniel Snyder I do think it's funny that Shanahan thinks it's somehow improper that a QB, even one with just one year of experience, should come to him and tell him what plays he likes and doesn't like. GImme a break, Mike.

What it looks like to me is ESPN scrambling to find something, anything, that will support the story they were pushing hard (deflategate) that has since basically been discredited. You saw tons of false information coming from ESPN that supported their side with nary a peep of actual info that didn't (that ONE ball was way underinflated and it just happened to be the one the Colts handled). And now they're throwing anything at the wall again, hope something sticks.

Played some co-op last night and I can confirm that the game gives you credit for sync kills by your teammates in which you don't participate.

Since that link seems to time out or die for me, here's a link to another Peter Molyneux interview. This interview was done the day after the Rock, Paper, Shotgun one - in which Molyneux said he would no longer talk to the press.I am of a couple minds here: - I think Peter Molyneux is a scumbag. Screwing over a contest winner, diverting resources paid for by Kickstarter to other projects, not delivering rewards, not delivering THE GAME ITSELF, etc - anybody who backed a Peter Molyneux project via Kickstarter is something of a fool. I mean, it's not like this guy hasn't earned himself a well-established reputation for missing deadlines, blatantly lying about the status of his projects, the capabilities of those projects, and delivering stuff that (while it may be great) doesn't come close to living up to his hype.

Meek, it's up. And the tears flowed. Mostly from them, but alittle from me too. Finally got around to watching it and, man, the tears sure flowed - from them. More than a little over the top, IMHO. I don't doubt they were genuine but good grief. Greg was crying over stuff that wasn't even emotional. I do get that the show has been a big part of Greg & Colin's lives since it basically made them best friends who now live together and got them through 2 divorces and Greg's cancer. And that's awesome and worth celebrating and being emotional. It just all seemed a bit much.

Yeah, even if you take away the "Kids For Cash" aspect, the documentary will make you want to break things. The whole "no tolerance" thing that Judge Ciavaralla had going on is just disgusting. And everybody that was complicit in it - principals, superintendents, parole officers, cops, lawyers, judges, everybody - they all need to fry in hell. The schools were using jail as a means of punishing students and that's just messed up. And for TINY infractions. One kid got busted for JUMPING OVER A TABLE in the lunchroom. WTF. Another kid ended up in jail for several years because his own father SET HIM UP as a means of getting him "scared straight" by bringing along a couple cop friends to a party where the kid was drinking. They planted some piece of drug paraphernalia on him and the kid was put away for several years, despite what his parents said. THAT kid ended up committing suicide eventually. Along with the "no tolerance" thing, what also came out was systematic denial of counsel by Ciavaralla. Parents would get asked "Do you have a lawyer?", they'd say no, be told to sign a paper, and that was that. Turned out they were signing a waiver of counsel. Should they have known better? Sure. But it was unquestionably coercive what was going on. And the prosecutors involved didn't care. When questioned, the prosecutor said something like "well, you saw as many lawyers as you didn't", which is about right - lawyers were present like 54% of the time (in all other courtrooms for juveniles, it was like 95% or higher) - and didn't care. That denial of counsel is what eventually led to the whole scheme falling apart. A juvenile justice center got involved and they got 2480 cases overturned and thrown out because of the bullshit that these judges pulled. GRRRR.

Along those lines, back when I was coaching freshman football, my wife finally stopped coming to games because she got tired of parents coming over and hassling her about everything. Why isn't Bobby starting? Why are they running that play? And so on and so on. I never *once* had a parent come to me about a problem but, man, they were happy to hassle my wife. She always gave some response along the lines of "Why do you go down there and ask him?" or "Gee, I don't know, he doesn't consult me". Good grief. * - the one time I had a parent complain, he contacted the varsity head coach instead of me. We were trying out a form of peer pressure discipline (nothing severe, mind you) and the parent didn't like it.

The Assassin's Creed movie has officially started production. Due for release on Dec 21, 2016. Yeah, I'll probably be there opening weekend. Dear god let it be R-rated.

That's false. The Las Vegas team they beat to win the US title came out as soon as this story broke and said they should be stripped of their title. That Las Vegas team had kids who were shaving between pitches. Their head coach was one of the great lame dudes of the summer. There was that one coach who gave the really heartwarming speech when his kids lost. The next game, they were doing a pitching change, and the Las Vegas manager was saying things like, "Let's have fun, guys. That's what America's about!" Such a lame attempt to get some 15 minutes of fame. Hey, speaking of that inspirational coach, he's mad at the Jackie Robinson folks too: So that's two different coaches whose teams were beaten by the Jackie Robinson West team that are upset. Can we now retire the notion that "only some [word removed] who his feelings hurt seems to have a problem"?

Oddly enough this exact topic came up in a Facebook post from a friend today after last night I watched... Kids For Cash - This movie tells the story of the "Kids For Cash" scandal from Pennsylvania where two judges were accused of improperly sentencing juveniles to a privately-owned detention center in return for cash payments from the owners of that facility. The reality is a little more nuanced than that. There's no proof offered that the judges were getting kickbacks specifically for sentencing kids. More they were bribed to force the shutdown of the state facility (which, from all sounds of it, NEEDED to be shut down) and guaranteeing they would sentence kids to the private facility. The two judges split $2.2m for their disgusting actions. The movie tells that story and also dives into the details of some particularly egregious miscarriages of justice. There's the girl* who was sentenced to jail for creating a fake/satire Myspace page of her vice principal. There's the kid who served *5 years* for buying (supposedly unknowingly) a stolen moped. There's the girl who served 6 years for getting into a fight in school. And on and on and on. In each case, they were essentially tricked into not having legal counsel present. Amazingly, both judges for some reason consented to participate in the documentary, with neither coming off particularly well. This is just a truly awful story and the movie tells it well. It's horrifying what the system did to thousands of kids. The only good news is that both judges are in prison for a long time. Excellent documentary - 9/10. * - The Myspace girl and the daughter of one of the judges are now somehow friends and are actually trying to work together on juvenile justice issues. Go figure.

This was my all time favourite Goodell-ism. Along those same lines - punishing guys for conduct code violations that occurred when there was no contract.

My story involves high school baseball: I was a coach for the high school (head coach of the 2nd JV squad) and we setup a summertime exhibition thing with our rival high school who was looking to start a varsity baseball program. We got most of our varsity to show up and pretty much all of their kids. Tons of parents. Anyway, we had no umpires so we had one of my freshman players calling the game from behind the plate. He actually did a terrific job (he'd done summer league stuff before, I guess). Anyway, one of the parents from the other school decided he was screwing their kids on balls/strikes and just would not shut up. Screaming and screaming and screaming and screaming, even after he knew it was a 14-year old back there. As if we would set out to screw them during a summer exhibition deal that was as much instructional as anything. Good grief. We had to call the cops to get him to leave.
