  1. HTTYD2's box office performance is still the most inexplicable thing for me this year. Like I wouldn't have predicted this for ASM2 and Transformers 4, but it's at least understandable. But yeah, if Transformers 4 doesn't do well (by Transformers standards), then there isn't much else. I'm guessing not many people seriously think Guardians is going to move the needle too much.
  2. You're right. The Veeg should be ahead of Super Ape, too. I have this stuff in a spreadsheet on my work computer so I'll have to see on Monday what's happening there. I think I'm probably inadvertently sorting by order of entry rather than the tiebreaker.
  3. The tiebreak is basically the percentage your prediction was off by. A lower number is better. If the movie you used as a tiebreak hasn't come out yet, it shows as "n/a". For example, Maleficent finished at $193,615,390, Jae predicted it'd be $188,000,000, he's off by just 2.9% (which shows as 0.029). Explanation about Erotic Terrorist's RT list in the spoiler. Spoiled for length.

  5. Transformers now at 17% RT on 43 reviews. Yikes. Also, HTTYD2 (barely) made more money yesterday than 22 Jump Street, so maybe the pendulum is starting to swing back in the other direction there?
  6. The hot new trend in cooking: eating dirt! http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/food-and-wine/food-trends/the-dish-on-dirt/article19315737/ excerpt:
  7. I didn't cry at that, but I did get an adrenaline surge. It's like a nightmare come to life. The only crying story that comes to mind for me is when I saw 50/50 in the theatre with two female friends. The part where JGL starts freaking out right when they're wheeling him in to surgery, all three of us started crying virtually at the same time. I'm sure I just got hit with some sort of estrogen spillover.
  8. I haven't actually seen anything that happened today, but for what it's worth, the people on my radio seemed pretty convinced that players on Ghana were trying to throw that game.
  9. The Interview doesn't come out until October, but if it had been released during the summer, Franco and Rogen would've pretty much made it an automatic inclusion. For the RT list, X-Men is locked at 205/224 = 91.52%, and HTTYD2 is at 113/123 = 91.87%. So HTTYD2 is still ahead of X-Men for now.
  10. Jeez, PWG is doing a 24-man BOLA this year at the end of August, they're halfway through announcing the names, and it's quite the list already. Matt Sydal, Zack Sabre Jr., Drew Gulak, Biff Busick, Chris Sabin... plus the usual PWG guys like Kyle O'Reilly, Michael Elgin, ACH, Brian Cage, Johnny Gargano.
  11. Don't know if this is what you meant, but Maleficent isn't "finished" yet. Its 28th day will be this Thursday.
  12. Nearly everyone has quite a few more points than they did last week, because of HTTYD2 coming in low on the box office list. Also, right now, it looks more likely than not that Maleficent will pass both Godzilla and ASM2 on the box office list.

  14. The two people who are going to benefit from HTTYD2's disappointing weekend are Niners Fan, who left it off his box office list, and MushroomJones, who had it ninth on his box office list. Everyone else put it in their top five, with most people having it either second or third.
  15. Internet says Meng beat Bam Bam in the first round and lost to Scott Steiner in the second. Norton wasn't in the tournament.

  17. I'm just waiting for the "This is what happens when you don't buy the Network" capper
  18. Nominate: KUSHIDA vs. Ricochet, June 8th Solid for the first 3/4 with some nice acrobatics and then they kicked it into high gear for the end, basically building the closing stretch around who can hit their finisher first. The early arm work by Kushida was sold with enough consistency by Ricochet to make the Hoverboard Lock feel like a real finish every time it gets applied. The Benadryller doesn't make total sense to me (like why would the shoulder lift add anything to the head kick?) but I like the idea they put out here that it only works if it's done exactly right. Ricochet just keeps getting better, he definitely knows how to pace a match, and I think he's still a ways from hitting his peak.
  19. I'm slightly over halfway through, so this will probably be my last post in this particular thread. The biggest problem I have with the book right now is that I don't see how what's going on is helping Marlowe figure out how Terry Lennox and his wife were killed. I'm actually not even sure if he IS trying to figure it out. He's not doing any overt detective work as relates to Lennox, and it's not clear what Roger Wade has to do with anything (I know there's a connection via his wife being, um, Lennox's wife's sister, I think). I'm assuming everything is going to tie together by the end.
  20. Watching Godzilla vs. Amazing Spider-Man 2 on the box office list has been pretty fascinating (well... as fascinating as you get in these things). When each of them had been out for 14 days, Godzilla had made $7.3 million more than ASM2 ($155.8m to $148.5m). But its lead has been eroding ever since, and now as of the 25-day mark, ASM2 is ahead by $1.1 million ($187.1m to $186.0m) and it looks like Godzilla's going to end up falling short. Btw I put A Million Ways To Die In The West 6th on my box office list. I am a chump.
  21. I can tell this isn't going away anytime soon.
  22. Not that it's a shocker that young girls were the ones watching it... but:
