  1. Everything about this Iconic Matt Hardy act is so great. Matt is so much better as a cocky asshole than a happy babyface. The Feast or Fired match itself was pretty bad - but Grado standing on Aiden to get his case was at least amusing. Loved this being a show with Sky on it, leading to Josh explaining that Velvet was fired last year. Crazy Steve and Abyss's new chick has a unique look and one of the best themes in the company thanks to Corgon getting a Marilyn Manson song for them. I did chuckle at Josh lamenting the loss of the old Steve - I bet he's been a fan of Crazzy Steve since he only had one Z in his name. But really, that whole Decay act is fantastic and feels like the most major league stable in a while. The Feast or Fired stuff was okay - the match was nothing, but the skits were amusing. Beer Money was hilarious, while Eli is at least going somewhere with the KOTM shot, Beer Money got the tag title match, Drew got the World title match, and Grado got fired. Poor guy - now he can leave a company that can't draw a dime and go main event in front of thousands of paying fans. Both JB and Josh were dicks to him though. At least Pope never liked him - so it was consistent. It's such a shame to see TNA delivering a good show and actually coming off major league in a couple of ways - mainly the ShopTNA ads, the entrance setup, and the licensing of music now. If they can get back up to 500,000 viewers on Pop, I'd start pumping more money into the lighting again and make a pitch to be back on Spike. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/tna-impact-wrestling-1-26-16.html Screens - The Iconic Era has begun Fashion Podcaster Josh Mathews http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/0zj2vf60oll79q7ji9u1hf4005r5nmpo
  2. This was a super-fun show. Rock was all coked up and amazing. In 2016, we've got AJ Styles winning on Raw while Consequences Creed is in a segment with The Rock. Wrestling is fun and weird in 2016. AJ-Jericho was fine, but Jericho was too out of it to do much. The main event wasn't much, but I like the Roman vs. Dean vs. Brock match - it's at least fresh and you can do a few things to protect guys too even with Roman being pre-ordaned to win the thing. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/wwe-raw-1-25-15.html Screens - Welcome to Vinny Mac's USED CARS! 3. This was a super-fun show from start to finish. Owens vs. Dean was a great video game hardcore match, while the tag title match exceeded any expectations thanks to some hard work and risk-taking. The US Title match was a cluster at times, but they did a fantastic job setting up false finishes and then delivering another nice win for Kalisto . IF they don't go back to it, then he won two out of three matches and won the feud. Becky vs. Charlotte had one of the best main roster video packages in years and they both got over - as did Sasha with the post-match assault on Charlotte. The Rumble made it very clear that Roman is STILL not the guy. he got booed with everything he did, and no story they told here prevented it. HHH's win was predictable in a good way, and AJ came off like a star while Owens has FOUR FEUDS set up with just this one match. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/wwe-royal-rumble-2016.html Screens - The Road to WrestleMania is paved with MANY 20 minute promos http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/z5dsq0jm13l77fnbqhqhjla24unny81x
  4. Perfectly functional show this week. Jordan and Gable got their new American Alpha name, and the Mechanics buried it. Alexa and Emma looked amazing tonight, and had a fun match with Bayley and Carmella. Carmella really isn't over even with this push, while Bayley remains a megastar to the audience. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/nxt-1-20-16.html Screens - ...for the main roster http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/2cfeqpwvv0c840uto8tld2ttauqeloko
  5. Gratuitous buttshot ahoy! The trash can and bright red shoes were what stuck out to me.
  6. It's a shame that Impact is now the old "if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, did it fall", because this was a pretty good show. They had a clear focus on the World title, but still gave every other major act a chance to shine. Beer Money vs. Eli/Godderz was fun, while Kong vs. Gail was their closest-thing-to-good match they've had since Kong came back. I loved Gail turning the Rings of Saturn into a crucifix. Finish with HALF A DOZEN OTHER PEOPLE was a tad too much though. Mike the motherfucking Miracle is doomed. He comes into TNA with shittier gear than he had in ROH and no tan, and other than a Rainmaker punch, did nothing that you wouldn't see a WWE mid-carder do. It was pretty obvious that Maria was the star of the duo in ROH for cosmetic reasons, but even without that as a crutch in TNA, she actually feels like a star, while he feels like a lower mid-card guy they're trying to elevate and just won't make it. Maybe he'll grow into this like EC3 did, but EC3 had far more star power the second that gimmick debuted than Bennett has. The World title match itself was a very good hardcore match that didn't really use too much weaponry - just a few things used smartly. Matt debuted an off the apron Twist, and revived the chair-assisted Twist. That was one of the many things that smartly set up the heel turn since he only used that as a heel. Tyrus's turn on EC3 was set up in October, and like everything else here, finally paid off here when it logically would have after everything got finished up with the post-aired BFG tapngs. Even the opener with Tyrus taking out Jeff played into all this perfectly since it showed that Matt is willing to even take out his own brother to win the World Title. Hopefully, they've re-signed Matt for a while - because I see him succeeding more in TNA than he could in WWE, while Jeff has at least an MITB win and cash-in in him in WWE. Matt cut a great heel promo too, and him talking about living a lavish life with a hot wife who has clearly had a few too much lip work done adds to this whole gimmick too. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/tna-impact-wrestling-1-19-16.html Screens - TNA is at least trying to make a $100 budget look like $1,000 http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/acfhub9680ggtjrutcxzt2642yepv2g5
  7. So Kalisto went from feeling like he COULD be a star, a legit star, and then within seven days, isn't. He jobbed twice in a week on TV, and he's just doomed - even if he wins at the Rumble, he's already been dialed down. Oh, and Bray is back to being a top guy and could win the WWE World Title at the Rumble despite feuding with the Dudley Boys for about four months. Wow. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/wwe-raw-1-18-16.html Screens - Vintage MK III Vs Screen http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/tmjh5gn95b6dftu29xb7xs5yclrlojwh
  8. This wasn't the greatest show or anything, but it was a productive hour of TV. They got the Mechanics over more, gave Silas a win and boy did that do nothing for him. Loved the 2015 awards - they did more in a few minutes than Raw did in three hours with the Slammys mere weeks ago. Ciampa's squash was fun and stiff, while the opening deal made the wait for the Joe DLC in 2K16 nearly unbearable - I can't wait to have him face Zayn in that. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/wwe-nxt-1-13-16.html
  9. What a shit show this was. Everything that didn't involve the Beer Money skit was either bad or sad. Angle-Drew was okay, but not what it could've been even two years ago. Jeff Hardy did something resembling a match, and boy did TNA hype up their biggest star's return to the ring well ON A TAPED SHOW. The Anderson skit was awful, although it at least led to Reby making fish faces and the return of "asshole" on TNA TV. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/tna-impact-1-12-16.html Screens - http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/gc2zo7r5zkcpk1bps01a5rahespgeybu
  10. Not an amazing show as a whole, but it did feature a best of 2016 moment (in theory) with Kalisto's win. They gave him momentum that could've just been the usual on-paper momentum and made it feel tangible before the match. He got promo time to put over the title, and Lilian gave him a Spanish intro to get him more over. He was a plucky babyface in peril and had the PERFECT finish with the rana facebuster. That should've ended it, but ADR kicked out and got beat by a cradle instead. That protects ADR a bit, but didn't help Kalisto as much as it should've. Still, it took a 10 down to a 9.5. Owens vs. Roman was excellent too, and they built up Roman vs. Brock by...firmly making Brock the top babyface in the company while also trying to do that for Roman. I don't see that working out for Roman. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/raw-1-11-16.html Screens - 45 Year Old Chris Jericho Wore This on Global TV If you thought I was bad at singing, just wait til you hear me on trombone! http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/i4lpyj327jci4b6cxlcvzim04gi89zdr
  11. Lashley vs. EC3 was fine-ish. LOLed at the schoolboy finish. Also, Smurf Jeff Hardy. They did a great job teasing Davey vs. Angle for the first and only time to deliver...Drew and Angle as a team against the Wolves and ED and EY. Beer Money reunion was fun. BPs deal didn't accomplish much, but Kong turned...re-turned heel. Also, Rebel is now a boat captain-cosplaying stripper. Viva la Boat Captain Mike Rotunda! World Title match was a fine video game match, but nothing really memorable beyond the nasty side effect on the steps and the super One Percenter. Bennett and Maria legit came off like the biggest stars on the show with their whole presentation. Maria's promo was fantastic and Bennett's was pretty good. His look seemed great early, and then they revealed the weird mustard yellow hat and blue Nikes and he came off like a guy trying to be a star with a $250 clothing budget. I chuckled so much at the seemingly endless plug of Schitt's Creek - it's like them plugging their future home, and for a while there, I was wondering if they'd thrown a tape of a whole episode on because that promo had to last at least 10 minutes. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/tna-impact-1-5-16-pop-tv-debut.html Screens - http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/fgxq28zs8az86ji7w54m83yck9xugs6v
  12. Fine-ish show. No really spectacular matches, but they did mix things up a bit with Alberto going for a new position on the double stomp. Crazy jacked up Vince was amusing, but the booking of that match was all sorts of silly. Scott Armstrong is just back as a heel after being one for like a month in 2013. Roman vs. All in the Rumble is either a perfect way to take the title off him, or a way to cement him as the Man. I'd have HHH win it and then you have Roman take the title at WM. Maybe even have Sting come out for a run-in to play off the HHH-Sting match last year. Or better yet, have the Shield reunite for one night to celebrate Roman's win. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/wwe-raw-1-4-16.html Screens - Cranky Vince! http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/zr18uip44zlmeifcjpsiaojjk5lrkb5j
  13. Amazing show. Top to bottom, it might've been better than last year - even the mid-card stuff felt more important this year. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2016/01/njpw-wrestle-kingdom-10.html Screens - http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/4buch0oznxhn1nnucypyoplsse9kp2cu/1
  14. The opening segment had potential and then derailed quickly. Then it got worse with Steph, which led to us getting tons and tons of recap of all this crap. Owens vs. Neville was a way to "get Neville over", but Owens wound up shining far brighter in defeat kicking his ass and then Dean later. Okay closing angle and main event though. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2015/12/wwe-raw-12-28-15.html Screens - http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/g7pteetfmxn8uzay7ajxcwfd8jmgxmed

  16. Show was an ungodly slog to get through, but at least Dean and Sheamus tried in the main event. It's crazy to think that things done off the top of the cage are now just nearfalls, but here we are. Great finish too - Dean wins by getting his ass kicked, so Sheamus lost and then got his ass kicked by Roman. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2015/12/wwe-raw-12-21-15-slammy-awards.html Screens - Leader of the women's empowerment movement http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/sg93o8h4gidlcirj0l52puzsl53iebd7
  17. Oh my God, that bump Buzz Sawyer took for Koko's dropkick was amazing. That WWE MSW set's music video for him, similarly, showed how you can take a simple thing and put your own twist on it to make it yours.
  18. The Big Dog vs. The Big Cock.
  19. DA is really easy to find - just look for bigfoot and it's right there.
  20. Fun show - not the greatest Takeover show, but there was nothing bad on the card. Asuka vs. Emma was the best match on the show overall, and while Joe vs. Balor was technically quite good, it wasn't all that special. If you imagined Joe vs. Balor in your head, this was exactly that match - nothing more. Tag title match was impressive, but JAYSUS was Enzo's whole look bad even by his standards. Super Smashing Machine was a fine finish for this, and I was amazed they didn't give the faces the win. Apollo vs. Baron was okay, but hurt by Apollo's bad striking. Bayley vs. Nia was surprisingly good, but a bit too long. I love Bayley now having a second finisher, and that choke finish was visually impressive too. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2015/12/nxt-takeover-london-12-16-15.html Screens - FIGHTING SPIRIT I am the terror that flaps in the night http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/h86ku7lu16awluzhr3q7j0b5nxcgnmu4 Take them off of youtube Asuka showed more star power DOING EMMA'S DANCE than 99% of the Raw acts.
  21. Holy shit - RAW WAS FUN. They needed to do a lot, and they hot shotted a TON here, but it worked. Vince just being in there with Roman helped Roman, and they absolutely prevented him from being Luger 2K15 tonight. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2015/12/wwe-raw-12-15-15.html Screens - http://www.imagebam.com/gallery/hdn9qj1h0qji4dl48jwl195q0rrsf75w
  22. The show match-wise peaked with the crazy tag team ladder match. Paige looked fine in the divas match, and I think she's a face now. Roman vs. Sheamus was a stunt show, but more of a video game match than anything else. "REIGNS HAS BEEN PUSHED FAR ENOUGH!" was hilarious. Ditto the post-match beating of HHH. http://jayreviewsthings.blogspot.com/2015/12/wwe-tlc-2015-coverage.html Cole - "REIGNS HAS BEEN PUSHED FAR ENOUGH!" Cole – SAME OLD STORY AGAIN TONIGHT! 23. Astonishing go-home show. After Raw, we actually see a program before a major show that makes you want to not only see this show, but that one too. Asuka is OFFICIALLY the smartest babyface in WWE.
