  1. I just think I'm an idiot considering Friday 3 in retrospect, since they had the mother bitching about the girl leaving in Spanish and everything. Now that I think back on it, yeah that was some pretty racist shit. At the same time it makes you feel for her character for being fucked with for no good reason and hopefully that was the intention. TCM III is pretty solid in retrospect though torn apart in the making by the director and producers. There's a great writeup by David Schow (splatterpunk author of regard) in an old Fangoria about how his script for it was changed. For III he wanted Leatherface to be a chain-smoking rebellious teenager type with leather jacket rebelling against his folks which is a great idea. Interestingly he ended up writing TCM: The Beginning, which is where I credit a great deal of its nastiness.
  2. A day off of this board is near overwhelming to keep up with. Mods, you have my respect. Anyway! Andre is fantastic in this.
  3. I don't see the racism in Friday 3. Yeah, two of the bikers are black, but they ride with a white dude. They're also assholes in general thus making them perfect victims. EDIT: does it make it sexist because one of the bikers is black AND female? C'mon.
  4. Jeeeeeeezus piranesi. I saw that as a kid on cable and couldn't sit through it. And what's wrong with denim on denim? It looks great. Sleazy, but great. As long as you have a tasteful black t-shirt to wear, and are of an accommidating waist-length (in other words, if you're straight pimpin) God I need some sleep.
  5. Can't believe I didn't notice the photoshop until it was pointed out. I think I was too entranced by Kanemura burning alive and how they actually captured that happening. Bellas pic is too funny. EDIT: I went looking for "young Arn Anderson" because I thought there was a childhood photo on the Greatest Stars WWE DVD of him and I got this.
  6. Last season was tremendous. Gyp went down in glorious fashion and Richard... there are not words. Can't wait for the new one in a week or two.
  7. The Hidden is one of those great '80s films that NOBODY talks about. It's a synthesis of The Terminator and T2 with Kyle MacLauchlan! What's not to like? I'm with Fowler, Friday 2 is great. I probably go with 3 above it only out of nostalgia/entertainment value (instead of being actually good) in the lineup.
  8. "Hardy fuckin' har" - Harvey Keitel Nikita is spot on. Good points to everyone in general.
  9. I refuse to read 10 pages of you fuckers bitching and moaning so all I will say is that the smarky ass Anaheim crowd going DEAD SILENT during the Wyatt squash was either WWE reading the board and fucking with us or some legit fear coming through. I do not get the feeling they hated it so much they decided to collectively sit on their hands.
  10. I like that you look at that pic and out of five guys you still want to punch Tully in the mouth in the worst way. I'd like to say that for the second (and he still looks the most punchable) but he's just too old and nice now. Actually Vince is the most punchable in that one so we have a winner! No idea where the Leatherface image came from, just something I picked up on a Google search for Cactus vs. Kanemura
  11. Your post is eerie considering I just watched SLC Punk on TV for the first night in a decade last night. It's like the second chapter.
  12. Jason on Arsenio Hall is on that video after you watch it. Must see.
  13. You guys are right, the sleeping bag re-do was in Jason X not FvJ, was actually debating that to myself when I wrote it. Looking back at the scene I cracked up: I think I can start planning my October out now considering I haven't seen any of the Hatchet films. Goddamn I wish I had Netflix...
  14. That is a great point that unfortunately will probably not be addressed. The only reason to feel sympathy for Jesse is that he feels remorse, and he has had a lot of really bad shit happen to him constantly throughout the entire series that even though he though he was complicit in, feels more like he was caught in a landslide for much of it.
  15. Jason X is great dumb fun. Jason Goes To Hell I wanted to see so bad in the theater when I was a kid, loved it on video when I finally got it, didn't watch it for many years, bought it... and yeah fuck that movie. I still love the first 15 minutes or so though. Manhattan suuuuuuuucks. Two good scenes, the face-exposure and the boxing death. EDIT: The sleeping bag death was so good they put it back in Freddy vs. Jason and did it better!
  16. Okay, one comment considering. Marie deserved far more than that slap. Hated her character since day one.
  17. Hero?! There is no hero here. Walt is still a good person who got corrupted by circumstance, and as a result did the same to everyone in his life. Hank is still a dumbass DEA agent (three strikes already IMO) with a harpy wife who ended up being inadvertently associated with him. Everybody else involved in the meth trade own their crimes. Nobody comes out good in this. Everyone is compromised. Jesse feels of all of them like the child that fell in a well and can't get out, but he still did what he did. My only opinion of this one is: let's see where it leads, then talk.
  18. http://www.pwhf.org/halloffamers/bios/sharpe.asp This thread needs more Rikidozan. and for a bonus!
  19. Heard it was abysmal. Haven't seen W*ING vs. Cactus in a long time but I know Cactus did take some sick bumps in it, wasn't all Kanemura getting mutilated. This couldn't be pleasurable: Pro wrestling is horror movie gimmicks ...and pro wrestling is sometimes just a horror movie
  20. I probably like The Dream Child more than any other Nightmare aside from the first and New Nightmare. And Freddy vs. Jason if that counts... saw it four times at the theater.
  21. I guess I join the sectarian war with this post: I always liked Friday better. Freddy's great but the humor is terrible. I actually prefer the braindead nature of the Friday films. Maybe it's just sleazier... Couldn't sit through the remake past the pre-credit sequence though. The Nightmare one, I gave a half-hearted attempt, but just switched the channel.
  22. Ooooo, I just thought of something. In the Inferno match Kane's arm got set on fire. Wyatt has that black wrap on the one arm... I bet they're gonna re-do the spot.
  23. Well, WWE is PG so they're saying that to save their ass. As far as I'm concerned Wyatt WANTS the fire match, so why should he fear it? I'll third the respect for the Maddox cane shot. That's one of the only plunder headshots in the federation in ages and I'm sure it hurt like a bitch. A gripe: why does everyone have to do a faceplant finisher? Wyatt, Rhodes, god there are like three more I know. I forgive Cesaro's because it's supposed to be a Gotch-style piledriver (nice for Cole to mention that, btw). Finally, JBL namedropping Kendo Nagasaki was great.
  24. I cannot believe I've had this match forever and never got around to watching it. This is the classic Torneo Cibernetico from '97 in CMLL, which for the uninitiated is an elimination match where partners on both sides switch constantly. Here you get a little over 20 minutes of nothing but beautiful matwork before the first elimination before everything speeds up. In the meantime there are multiple angles going on with Santito vs. Casas of course being a highlight. Dr. Wagner Jr. has huge heat here and there's a great moment where he breaks up a pin on Casas by pulling him by his hair out to the floor so the rudos can mug him en masse. Satanico and Brazo de Oro share maybe the greatest and most fluid pin exchange sequences I've ever seen, then Shocker does a tope through the ropes that he goes UPSIDE DOWN on. The winner is in tears at the end and I cursed myself for never having gotten around to seeing this. Even if you don't "get" lucha you will love this. And if not a pox upon your name.
