  1. Well, I mean, they found a wing from that plane, what the hell else are they supposed to cover now?
  2. His intros for Shawn Michaels always felt throaty in a different sort of way
  3. The Horsemen and later Randy Savage were cool heels way before the NWO. I mean, speaking strictly for myself, if you were a WWF kid who randomly turned on Nitro one night, the NWO were babyfaces
  4. I am not even kidding when I say: I have never seen or heard of Lena Yada in my life. That post was literally my introduction to her existence as a human being
  5. Its just interesting to me that all the women have to wrestle now. Why is being strictly a manager or valet frowned upon? Miss Elizabeth and Sunny never had matches, and even Sherri is more known for her managerial work, and they're all HOFers. Edit: thinking about it further, I guess it started with Sable. Cue Cornette rant number 372
  6. I guess Virgil wins twice, cause the NWO B Team music was pretty awesome. Hell, toss in Rap is Crap and we've got a Virgil threepeat on our hands.
  7. Christian was so god damn hot before he left for TNA too, talking smack about Cena on some pay-per-view which escapes me. Even upon his return, he guy was the only reason I watched Smackdown in 2010/2011 for the most part. Really sad he never got a proper send-off other than the "one more match" gimmick
  8. This is my favorite board on the internet period. I find myself getting into crazy arguments on /r/SquaredCircle about the absolute dumbest things, like "I know the DVD said that happened, but that definitely didn't happen." I lurk PWO, and I absolutely love the level of knowledge of the guys over there, but I don't think I'm smart enough to post there-- it's like when my ex used to have her doctor friends over for dinner. I worked construction at the time, so I just had nothing to say.
  9. Maybe I'm in the minority, but for me, the build outweighs the finish and aftermath of Hogan/Sting at Starrcade. For a guy my age, that's not only the one of the definitive Hogan feuds watched live in real time, but Sting was integral to the success of the entire NWO angle, in my opinion. And, maybe it's because I was a massive fan of his too, but I thought that Bret coming in to reverse the fast count (had it ACTUALLY been a fast count) would've made total sense. Rock is an interesting pick for that fifth slot, but to play devil's advocate, a couple counterpoints: 1) the build to WM had Hogan and the NWO attempting to murder Rock with a tractor trailer cab, which Rock essentially, no-sold, and the match was followed up by the Outsiders turning on Hogan AND a post-match mutual respect handshake 2) The build for that match was so short that, despite the match's historical significance in retrospect, I see no reason to put Rock in that fifth spot over Orton, Michaels, HHH, Taker, or any other post-2002 WWF comeback Hogan feud. I mean, honestly, in terms of build longevity, you could plug the Dungeon of Doom or Ultimate Warrior in that spot, and I'd be just as inclined to agree with them in that spot as I do Rock. I'm going with 1) Savage 2) Piper 3) Sting 4) Flair 5) Andre. Piper, Savage and Flair get the advantage of being multi-decade, multi-company fueds, Sting gets the nod for WCW's entire 1996 and 1997, and Andre gets the nod for the significance of WM III (though, personally, I'm less than thrilled that it gave rise to the notion of a 'WM Moment' that's stuck around for longer than I've been alive).
  10. I once read a third hand report that Brian Cage described his own piss as "radioactive" on some podcast so
  11. Maddox works best as a smarmy, sniveling heel so I hope they let his personality continue to shine. Otherwise, he's just Simon Dean. I haven't seen much of Rose on NXT or anything so I can't really comment on him outside of the main roster stuff, but after seeing him on the ESPN special I wish him nothing but the best.
  12. I'm so excited to get into '97 Raw. I'm so psyched it's finally up. I was waiting to get into the later stuff until the '97 Nitros are up so I could watch them at the same time, but I might scrap that idea now. I mean, who knows if they'll even be put up now since Hogan is the focal point of so much of it? I'm finished up on all the Nitros, but I'm just starting 1996 on Raw so I should be into 97 in a couple weeks. On a side note, I just saw the Raw after Survivor Series 95 where Diesel does the promo about not being Vince's corporate puppet and the suits in Titan Towers, and Shawn and Owen do the "concussion" angle. Say what you want about the Kliq, but if this shit was all put together in their car as said in certain shoot interviews, then color me impressed. This stuff is way ahead of it's time, especially for this era of the WWF.
  13. Obviously Hogan is in the news right now for all the wrong reasons, but what Piper said in his promo at Halloween Havoc '96 was pretty much a shoot: without crazy-ass Piper, there would have been no one for people to pay to see get beat up by Hogan. Piper really was, and will always be, an icon in his own right. Even as a babyface in WCW (I'm only 27 so for better, or worse, that was my first exposure) there was still a sense of danger when he picked up a mic-- which, because I was so young, is something I didn't really notice until years later, I think maybe because Raw was so hot at the time and they were going nuts with Austin and the "attitude" stuff. But I always LOVED that no matter their alignment, it felt like Piper/Hogan was some sort of Hatfield/McCoy blood feud, be it the WWF in the 80s, WCW in the 90s, or that AWESOME surprise comeback by Piper with the lead pipe during the Hogan/Vince match at Mania.
  14. Very thankful I got to see him in WCW as a kid and work my way backwards on his stuff. As mentioned above, it's hard not to feel for Flair and other stars from that era after having recently lost Dusty. This is very sad and difficult to process right now. I may have to throw They Live on tonight before I even touch any of his matches.
  15. I can tell you're souper upset about it. Like you've been stewing about it since you first heard it. Maybe you should write a hop-ed piece about it. im sorry
  16. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess Hebrew?
  17. I don't disagree with you at all, but to be fair, the main roster should learn to make guys feel like a big deal rather than just throw them out there and see what happens. Hell, I was invested in Balor as a babyface more from watching his special with all the Japan and ICW footage and Becky crying and him building Lego than I was from anything that happened on NXT TV. This HBO 24/7 style presentation could be a huge positive change in the way guys are introduced and put over-- it just seems to me, especially with the Network and 5 hours of weekly TV, to be the natural evolution of pro wrestling character development. Sorry for the rant but I just don't wanna see the guy get screwed cause he doesn't have the acting chops for a Ziggler-esque love triangle.
  18. I don't know what I just saw, but it's weird and terrible.
  19. Generally, I've felt over the last couple days that, while Hogan is a bigoted piece of shit, he would go on the apology tour (see my drugs post above) and be welcomed back in 5 years. If he actually said shit about The Rock, he may truly be done forever. And, this should obviously go without saying, but I hope no one takes my speculation on Hogan's future in the business, or my assertion that he should blame drugs, as any sort of sympathy or anything like that. I was holding my black niece in my arms no less than ten minutes before typing this, and she's asleep down the hall from me right now. I don't play that shit.
  20. He really talked about The Rock? I thought that shit all came from a comedy article
  21. There will be like 10 dudes who ask him about CM Punk calling him a dork, the rest will all be the same people who thought their shutdown/alternate reality game angle was "an NWO-level game changer." (I swear to God that is a legit quote).
  22. Is "Anyone But You" chant-able enough to be heel Roman's "Die Rocky Die?" Maybe in that sing-songy "Taz is gonna kill you" way? Would heel Roman vs. Ambrose be as fun as they have been together having each other's backs?
  23. Yeah, dude, that's a good call. He REALLY should have taken the drug angle. Something like: "These tapes, which again, were not recorded with my consent, were recorded in 2006, and at the time, I was not in compliance with WWE's impressive and comprehensive wellness policy. Like many others from my generation, both inside and outside of wrestling, I became a prescription drug addict due to mounting injuries from years in the ring, in addition to the numerous personal family issues I was facing. I am proud to say I will be checking myself into a rehabilitation facility to continue fine-tuning and maintaining my sobriety, and to undergo intensive psychotherapy to find out the underlying cause of the angry and hateful words that unfortunately came out of my mouth that evening. I appreciate the continued support of my fans around the world (of ALL races, colors, and creeds) and promise that I will work tirelessly to be the best me I can be. I once again apologize to my family, friends, fans, and WWE for letting them down and not living up to their standards, or my own, during an incredibly tumultuous time of my life." He could also just try not being fucking racist, but I'm speaking strictly from a business point of view. Not excusing his shittiness AT ALL.
  24. Why wouldn't you go Arnold/Show?? He was in the damn movie!! No joke: I thought "Lunatic Fringe" was just referencing his hairstyle. Either you're not from Canada/the US, or you've led a remarkable classic-rock-radio free life, in which case I envy you.
