DVD/BR Collector Thread for the Physical Media Enthusiasts

Vinegar Syndrome announced some of their Half-Way to Black Friday releases and it's a doozy. A restored "dirtier" version of Bob Saget's Dirty Work starring Norm. A 4k of Eddie Murphy's Golden Child. A 4k of William Friedkin's Jade w/ Linda Fiorentino and the glasses guy from CSI: Miami. And Cinématographe is releasing the Jonathan Demme/Spalding Gray collab Swimming to Cambodia. -
WWE TV - 4/28 - 5/4/2025 - Aleister Black Velvet, If You Please

I peeked the post Mania shows to see what the direction would be, and I don't think I can keep watching with these schizo crowds. Cheer Becky turning on Lyra. Cheer Becky beating up Bailey. Cheer Lyra coming to the ring. Chant "What" when she talks. Cheer when she says she wants to wrestle in Kansas City. Boo Seth for being a douche. Cheer Sami for standing up for himself. Chant One More Time when Sami gets killed. Sing Seth's music when he Curb Stomps him. It's all the equivalent of one guy chanting both Let's Go Cena and Cena Sucks. It's sad to watch WWE try to have more continuity in their shows for fans who seemingly can't remember what a wrestler said 5 minutes ago. -

Jeeeeeeeeze what a weird ending. Prates had Garry all kinds of fucked up, but couldn't fire in the last 40 seconds of the fight. He even looked at the clock, knew he had 20 seconds to finish, and let Garry up and didn't swing. Looked like he was absolutely exhausted. Maybe get more than 3 hours of sleep a night? Great performance from Ian Garry(at least in the first 4 rounds), though. Still championship material. -

Yeah ol Dalby broke his nose and went into "well fuck it" mode. -
Aaron Gordon with perhaps the closest measurable buzzer beater dunk you'll ever see. Great finish.

If you tuned out of the Clippers/Denver game before the fourth quarter... you made a mistake.

That's how you know he's the good guy.

Denver/CIips is the goods. Gimme all of this you got.

I knew Cena was winning because it made the most sense, but I was hopeful it would be done in a cool way. It was not. That match stunk. Travis Scott coming out was dumb. Cody looked dumb. I look dumb for not turning the show off after Dom won the title. On the brightside the women's triple threat was the best match.

Despite all the bullshit, I would assume it's sponsor related. Probably Modelo, because Nunes was the face of those campaigns when they were "the official beer of the UFC". -

What the fuuuuuuuuuck. That's crazy behavior. Big respect to the teammate who moved that girl to the side and stood up to that loony old shit. Kind of makes you feel hopeful for future generations.

Honestly, I like the Apex stuff. I like the intimacy of it. I don't need 10,000 people booing everytime there's a grapple. Or chanting USA because one of the guys is Brazillian. Or flipping out for Kid Rock. -

Something you don't see at the fights every day.... After making his way to the cage it was discovered that Marvin Vettori forgot his cup. Someone had to run to the back and get it, and Marvin walked behind one of the barricades to put it on. -

Alexander Hernandez and Kurt Holobaugh had a fun scrap, but Hernandez locked it up with some wrestling. He said something slightly concerning post fight about a neck injury, and that he took a shot that took away some of his control over his right arm. Yuck. -

The thought of wrestling was enough to make Alex too hesitant. Ankalaev was able to gain confidence. It also helped that his calf didn't seem to give a fuck about all those leg kicks. I think a rematch could be interesting. But if Alex wants to eat more and go Heavyweight for a third I wouldn't complain. -

I feel somewhat similarly to you. Ankalaev should've gotten to Alex earlier and it felt, to an extent, that Perreira was being protected by getting matched up with stand up fighters. I don't put too much into that, because all of those standup guys were still fucking killers and champion caliber guys. Either way, Ankalaev has felt like the only real question mark on the resume - and we finally get to see it answered. That being said - I don't think Ankalaev is the kind of fighter that he's being sold as in the build up. He's great, but I think his use of wrestling in mma is being oversold. I don't think he shot on Rakic once in their 15 minutes together. I think Rakic was the one who engaged any clinch work. Didn't shoot on Johnny Walker either. He's not like some kind of Curtis Blayde of Light heavyweight, who loves to take people down and grind them out. He's a sambo guy, and I don't remember the last time I saw him do much Sambo'ing. It'll still be an impressive win, because Ankalaev is probably, truly, the second best fighter in the division. And it would certainly solidify Alex's legacy in the division. But I wouldn't say it's because he "beat a wrestler." -
That sucks. Only 53. Nish was so good as an old vet technician in Puro Love era All Japan.

Card tonight has been great so far. Font/Matsumoto was wild fight. The recent performances by Fluffy Hernandez have made him a bit of a favorite of mine. He just grinds people down. Excited to see who he gets in the Top 8.
