  1. For the most part, I like the two episodes, but the first 15 minutes pissed me off so bad that I had to stop watching and come back to it. The first episode came across like the showrunners trying to unburden themselves with the "baggage" of the first three seasons as quickly as they could, and it felt pretty insulting. Given the comments about "navel gazing", I do wonder if they understand what made people like the show in the first place. That said, I do like that they aren't forgetting the lawyer part of Matty, as I feel like that is one area where the Netflix show dropped the ball. The tone seems right, as it is probably a natural progression of where Matt would be in his life at this point. He got over all of his guilt and self loathing. I think the show will ultimately be good, but they will have to work hard to redeem that first 20 minutes.
  2. This shit sucks.
  3. Just a nightmare season, and the first time since like 2009 that I just make no effort to watch Mavs games. Would be sick if we had a dude that was known for elevating everyone and dragging a team to victory despite it's shortcomings.
  4. BNW had some issues from a film making perspective, but for what they were going for, I liked it quite a bit. It had phase 1 or phase 2 vibes, as it was really grounded for the most part. It really felt like Marvel was trying to realign it's focus with this movie. It actually had some of the better action set pieces in the MCU as well. Also, not for nothing, it's looking like one of those movies, based on the RT score, that the audiences like more than the critics.
  5. Appreciate that these last couple of Cobra Kai episodes brought things back around and remembered that this was supposed to be Johnny and Miguel's story. Glad the last batch of episodes kept things simple and kinda went back to basics. Somw good closure for the Karate Kid lore. Could have done without AI deepfake Pat Morita though.
  6. They were acting like he was Big Baby Davis or some shit.
  7. Davis out for a month. Great work Nico.
  8. I expected the Mavs defense to get better, but I'm actually blown away by how good they look defensively today. Davis has gotten a great reception from the Dallas crowd and the vibes are actually good in the first half.
  9. Lakers fans, I don't watch the team that often. WHY DIDN'T Y'ALL TELL ME ABOUT MAX CHRISTIE????? I fucking love this dude already after two games. Obviously Davis is the "big piece" in this, but knowing Mavs fans like I do, they are going to absolutely fall in love with Christie. He's like a young Dorian Finney Smith, but it didn't take him 6 years to learn how to shoot.
  10. In fairness, they sat Kyrie, PJ and Gaff. That's in addition to Lively and Powell being hurt still. Starting 5 was Dinwiddie, Klay, Omax, Exum and Kyler Kelly. We should have lost by 100. RE: The Fox trade. I kinda feel like everyone came away looking pretty good here. I like Lavine for Sac, and Fox/Wemby is a lethal combo, especially with CP3 and Castle coming off the bench. Bulls have got to be trading Vuc now right?
  11. That is the prevailing belief. The conspiracy theory now is that they are trying to pull a "Major League" and crater the team so they can move it. Say what you will about Cuban, but he never would have done this.
  12. To say the least, I am not ok. The instant reaction is to blame Nico Harrison, but I can't help but point a finger at these shit birds that Cuban sold the team to. Cuban would have moved heaven and Earth to keep Luka on this team. I can barely even process this shit, but I am furious. The frustrating thing to me is that Dallas could have gotten all but maybe 5 players in the league for Luka, and a mountain of picks, and this is what they settle on. I don't want to downplay AD as a player, but now our two best players are north of 30 and have trouble staying on the floor. Kyrie has been a model citizen in Dallas, mainly because of getting to play with Luka. Klay came to the team to play with Luka. Things are going to look BLEAK in a couple of years. To try to put a positive spin on this, Davis playing his preferred position at the 4 next to Lively/Gafford at 5 will be gnarly defensively. Especially if you slide PJ to the 3. That is probably the best defensive frontcourt in the league. I'm not worried about the short term.
  13. I've been having quite the laugh at the Snyderbros picking the Guy Gardner look of all things to try to dunk on. Especially since it's an extremely well done, comic accurate version of early douche canoe Guy. After Superman & Lois, and My Adventures With Superman, this film has the potential to complete the best on-screen run the character has ever had. I think Gunn has more than earned our trust on this with his track record.
  14. I didn't find out that part until the Mavs-Portland game on Saturday night. It was kinda buried in the press release. Naji is a maniac so I believe that.
  15. After years of being seen as one of the softest teams in the league, I'm so happy to have dudes like Naji Marshall and PJ Washington on the team. Edit: How did Nurkic end up with a smaller suspension than Naji, when he was the one who threw the first shot? Also PJ getting suspended is BS.
  16. I feel like I'm the only one that kept watching Superman & Lois, but I thought they had a killer final season, with a beautiful finale. Outside of the Donner films, this show will go down as my live action measuring stick for the character.
  17. I do appreciate the balls to take up half of the runtime of your "last episode" with a single fight scene. This show does big multi-person fight scenes incredibly well, but I'm a little disappointed that we probably don't get the blowoff with Zara-Tory or the Iron Dragon dude. I never want to hear "sekai takai" ever again.
  18. So I can't be the only one who went into this show with low expectations, and ended up thinking that the show greatly outkicked it's coverage. I honestly think it's sitting up there with Loki as the best MCU D+ shows. Really like Joe Jocke as Wiccan. I liked the backstory on Agatha not really vindicating her, but at least giving some context. Patti Lupone was awesome, and I really liked her episode making sense of all the weird stuff that happened earlier. Just a real pleasant surprise of a show. Also, "Ballad of the Witch's Road" is going to be in Halloween playlists from here to eternity.
  19. I've liked the show, but is it bad that the best episode of this focused primarily on Billy and left everyone else mostly on the sidelines?
  20. Superman & Lois FINALLY sets up some potential for Superboy Prime....when there are like 5 episodes left in the entire show.
  21. So I *just* realized tonight that Michael Cudlitz was the weird dude in Grosse Point Blank that made up some beef with John Cusack and later asked if he wanted to do some blow.
  22. Superman out there getting dogwalked by Doomsday for 3 episodes and John Henry Irons just basically said "aight I'ma head out".
  23. We already see how the adult pissbabies are reacting to Skeleton Crew. At the end of the day, Acolyte of course wasn't renewed because the viewership didn't justify the cost, but I do think the viewership can be traced back to the discourse. I imagine that there are a significant number of people who aren't chronically online that go to places like Rotten Tomatoes or whatever to look at a review score. They see something has like a 35% and will be like "no thanks", and have no idea of the review bombing that took place. I'm willing to be money that Skeleton Crew will get a similar fate on review sites. So yes, Disney is fully justified in pulling the plug on something that people aren't watching, but the circumstances are really gross.
  24. I was higher on the show than a lot of others, but even with the problems the show had, I think it had enough juice for a second season, and a chance for the creators to learn some lessons. It's just frustrating that shows don't get that chance anymore. Especially with Bob Iger and Disney, whose response to The Marvels performing poorly was to do exactly what we are talking about. I feel like if Andor didn't have connective tissue to the Empire, it would have never gotten greenlit, even with how incredible the show turned out.
  25. The bigger story out of Acolyte not being renewed, is that we are probably just going to be stuck with Lucasfilm taking absolutely zero chances going forward. The lesson Disney will take is that everything has to be tied to the original films or else it won't get a chance to succeed. If the Clone Wars series debuted today, we'd have never seen the conclusion.
