  1. Regal makes another addition to the already amazing legends roster in the eventual AEW game.
  2. Didn’t see a problem with the crowd at the end? They seemed to be having fun with all the Adam chants and were into the match the whole way.
  3. It’s 5am here in the UK but just gotta say what an amazing show top to bottom before I go to bed. Jericho and Eddie going full AJPW was a sight to behold, I FUCKING LOVED every second of it. Automatically one of my fave AEW matches, Eddie is the king of these short intensity filled matches. Him not believing he had won and asking Aubrey “you sure?” was very wholesome. Tag Title match was lots of fun and a big win for the champs. I was laughing at Bobby Fish’s NON STOP trash talk throughout the match. Ladder match was alright and I’m happy Wardlow won, that powerbomb on Starks was scary specially after he was off so long with a neck injury. Nice that Keith Lee attempted to murder OC on that throw to the outside. Miseria Cantare took me back to 2004 and the nostalgia was off the charts. Excalibur’s “Punk with A FIRE INSIDE” was a great line. Great bloody match although I felt it could have started with more intensity right off the start. Wardlow almost stole the show at the end with the whole ring business, good good stuff. Trios match over delivered BIG TIME for me, way way more fun and crazy than I ever expected. Darby almost died before the match even started in his entrance short film. Mox-Bryan was great but the post match with Regal was easily the best part and the handshake got the biggest pop of the match. Main event was great stuff, I just love Hangman’s matches and how heavy handed (and footed) he is. He’s starting to come as very dominant now compared to the underdog feel he had when fighting Kenny and Bryan. Love it. Good night everyone.
  4. Monday booked off from work and just woke up from a Sunday evening nap to get ready for midnight’s Buy-I’m to start. Bring it on.
  5. Not sure about WWE but AEW does singles multi man matches very rarely. I don’t think they’ve done more than 5-ish or so I’m the past 3 years.
  6. Only time in my lifetime that I actively looked forward to JJ segments, in any promotion.
  7. Crazy sprint title match, Andrade looked like a beast being the bigger guy and I liked the finish didn’t have any bullshit kick outs from Andrade, he ate 3 finishers in a row and was dead. Nice that there was no Ahof crap either. I can’t imagine getting to work and being told that Keith Lee is gonna double chop your chest a few times that night, holy shit those look brutal. This was one of the best examples of big men slapping meat lately. Starks had me laughing during this match: Starks: “Why does he walk so slow?” Starks: “The winner of the ladder match is gonna be either me or Hobbs (I still have love for you brother)” Excalibur: “That’s not what you said earlier” Starks: “YOU STIRR THE POT SO MUCH!!!” Tazz: “GET A FORKLIFT HERE TO UNLOCK HIS ASS” Alex Abrahantes is super cringy and is always overdoing it so much, but I can tell he is 100% into what he’s doing so I can’t really hate the guy. I just feel he should take a step back and let Pac and Penta do their thing. Jericho on Shida: “SHE CAME OUT IN A PANT SUIT AND TURNED INTO A VICIOUS BEAST!” Thank god for Eddie Kingstong and anything that come out of his mouth.
  8. It’s a stacked PPV card so hopefully this means the Triple Threat match on Rampage gets lots of time. Is it elimination or just one fall?
  9. I think we all have a few of these stored in our memory that we always remember, but watching it cut like this it's crazy to see how often he let people just fucking murder him. Had a quick Google and it's even crazier that he only ever got injured a couple of times in his career.
  10. To me AEW has always been PWG Wendesday Night Nitro and that's just how I like it, Great go home show on almost everything. - Tony is such a dork in a good way, his geeky enthusiasm shines through. He kinda reminds me of the nerds that Channing Tatum befriends in 21 Jump Street. - Loved the Era of Honor Begins call back, I still remember sitting in front of my PC in 2002 watching that match and being blown away by what I was seeing. Kinda weird that they didn't mention that Daniels was also a ROH champion though. Nice of them to start with the code of honor only for Bryan to shit on it at the end. - I laughed at Sting's lack of intensity during his promo, like he was so tired of everyone's shit. - Tag Battle Royale was great and better than last week's, the Royal Rumble format just works so much better. Perfect reintroduction of Darius and it automatically brings him back up to his brother's current power level in the eyes of the crowd. I wish he would have won because the crowd was ready to lose their shit for it. Almost every team in that match got a great pop when coming out which I love to see, but it was weird how they let so many jobber-ish teams come out near the end. - Not gonna comment on the Punk/MJF segment because you've all discussed, it was just awesome. - Women's match was kinda meh, my eyes just keep wandering to Hayter's trunks the whole time (single guy here, gimme a break)/ I feel Thnder Rosa is not wining on Sunday now after pinning Britt clean here, but the angle has cooled down a lot and it does't feel as big as it should be so maybe better if they hold off until they can build up something hotter. Loved Rosa's White Ranger attire tho, her gear is always on point. - Loved loved loved Wardlow finally saying something back to MJF and the HUGE slap in return. It's gonna be awesome once he snaps. - Fun main event, Hangman and Johnny Hungee looked great. Someone said recently that Hangman has a Bret vibe now, just a good guy fighting off the heels and I completely got that feel tonight for some reason. Loved him trying to headbutt Cole when taped up and still fighting back. Bring on Revolution! oh yeah and SAMMY VS DARBY VS ANDRADE Holy shit
  11. I kinda like Page just going from the opening bell to knocking peoples heads off with Lariats and boots. He’s kind of a big meaty guy in the AEW universe so makes sense that all his moves feel like bombs from the get go. I love his move set btw, he doesn’t do anything that feel too contrived or that relies much on the other guy cooperating and his stuff just looks good. I only dislike the few times he does a running SSP because it doesn’t seem to match him at all, but apart from that his offence is *chef’s kiss Cole is a guy who I never get excited for when they announce his matches going all the way back to his PWG/ROH days, but when the actual matches happen I’m always invested and think to myself “lol this guys great”.
  12. Bret-Austin is still the default "Best WWE match of all time" that my brain goes to when I think of this topic. The WM 10 opener is so fucking good too.
  13. She's always being cringey and I think it's the main reason why she's never as over with the crowd as they kinda present her to be. Same ways as someone like Pillman Jr. comes off, trying just a bit too hard.
  14. I've had a really good feel watching the shows recently because, even tho you have the usual superstars in Mox, Bryan, Punk, etc. I think Darby and MJF could be given the top title at any time and it wouldn't feel out of place. Sammy is also doing great at the TNT Title level, what they've been doing with Wardlow is clearly working and he's getting veryover, Hobbs and Dante are having great lower card matches and killing it to great reactions, Jungle Boy is getting better by the day, Eddie feels like a massive star even tho he never wins, etc. Even with the influx of top talent in the past year it has really felt like lots of these younger guys are hitting their stride around the same time.
  15. Fun show that’s always extremely fast paced in a good way. TNT title match was crazy as expected with these two guys and luckily they kept the AHFO fuckery to a minimum. That ending cutter looked BRUTAL for both guys, I’m surprised they didn’t replay it because it looked liked it killed them. The HOSS match was unexpectedly awesome and hard hitting. I loved the slight hint of “uncooperation” on some moves which makes it look like a proper fight “WE HAVE A SHOOT HERE TAZ!”. Awesome little match and made Comoroto look great in defeat. Wardlow looked proper pissed that Spears hit his hand with the chair. I don’t know why but I can’t help but smile ear to ear whenever Hook comes out (I’m marking out bro). It’s a combo of the crowd reaction, the joy in Taz’s voice at his superstar son and the motherfucker just being so cool. He keeps being presented nearly perfectly. Put the TNT Title on him NOW and let’s see what happens. Main event was silly and fun and the curse keeps being one of the best interference tactics at the moment. Did Yuta just disappeared from ringside mid match or did I miss something?
  16. Kings of Wrestling around 2009-2011 ROH were incredible with Hero also being in the best shape of his life.
  17. Predictions so far: AEW World Championship Page should decisively win this to solidify his run and I feel it’s not his time to drop it yet, MJF kinda feels like the possible next champion at this point. Cole also has too much going on with the Bucks/ReDragon and potentially Omega and White. AEW Women's World Championship I feel this is not being built up as the big deal that it is, or doesn’t feel as huge as it should be because it’s the one rematch they’ve saved for a long time. But I think Rosa can’t afford to lose this time. AEW Tag Team Championship Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus probably retain if it’s agains ReDragon and The Bucks. But if another team like Santana and Ortiz Sneak in there could see them getting the belts, maybe due to some Bucks interference or something. Dog Collar Match This could go either way at this point. Kingston vs. Jericho Eddie Kingston HAS to be beat Jericho. I know his deal is he always loses the big matches but he’s too beloved at this point to be denied a happy moment again. Mox vs. Bryan This could go either way and I don’t think anyone cares who wins, it’s more about what’s gonna happen between them after. Face of the Revolution Ladder Match Hard to pick at this point, is there any chance we could get Hook in here to have all Team Taz represented? I wonder if they’ll leave the last entrant as a surprise. Tornado Trios Match This should be a fun few minutes but feels very thrown together, I’d do it on the Buy In to save the time on the main show for all the other matches since there are a lot of big ones.
  18. Good show that could’ve been much more enjoyable with a better crowd. Random thoughts as usual: Opening Battle Royal got really fun when it came down to all the single team members. The finish was somewhat expected with some sort of double cross between The Bucks and ReDragon, but Kyle played it off so smoothly and perfectly. Loved the post match brawl still acknowledging the past history between so many of these guys and I really digged Page’s cowboy tale style of promo, it all came off really well and I like the “open world” feel that AEW has with so many people involved with each other instead of living in a small feud bubble. MJF’s promo was something, I never got 100% into it because I kept expecting him to eventually turn it around into his usual dickhead promo but was a nice twist that it didn’t. Punk comimg out and just asking “is it real or not?” without having to say it into a mic came off really well too. Warms my heart to see the massive pops and ovations that Eddie has been getting lately. And I popped out loud in real life when he called Jericho’s bullshit line and said “what’s a baby face?”. It’s been driving me crazy how some guys say baby face or heel during promos. Bad guys don’t wake up and think “oh well, another day of being a heel”, they’re just dickheads by nature. Kingston HAS to win this feud. The crowd got into the TBS title match near the end, but I thought Jade looked terrible tonight. She seemed lost most of the match, her timing was off with almost everything (including her attempts at talking shit post match) and that kick out was embarrassing. Not her best night. LMAO at Starks saying hello to Keith Lee. Main event was good but I feel they could have a proper classic if given more time in the future. Loved them elbowing each other whilst holding hands and that counter to the Dragon Screw Leg Whip leading directly into the finish was smooth AF. Letting Wild Thing play during the entire post match brawl was such a good choice, gave it so much more energy. Bryan and Mox in the ring give off this real big fucking stars vibe when they’re in there just staring at each other. Good shit.
  19. I don't mind Hangman/Cole as I'm 99.99% Page is winning and it's a high profile win for his reign, much more valuable than beating Archer for example. He doesn't seem very popular around here but, at least in the eyes of the crowd, Cole is a pretty big star and he's right there just under the Punk/Bryan/Mox/Page level right now.
  20. Man this Nashville crowd got a hell of a quality wrestling night between Dynamite and this. I loved that Hobbs-Dante match, both guys have great chemistry and they really went at it with the hardcore intensity from the bell. I could watch this 2 wrestle each other for a long time and I think it would always be fun. Not sure who’s been coaching Dante but his facial expression were so much better here, he actually felt alive instead of his usual bored-teenager-little-brother expression, it improved his whole presentation. Loved the decisive no bullshit finish to the match, sometimes this is OK and both guys still look great. JR is gonna lose his shit if we keep adding meaty guys to the ladder match. This is the first time I’ve noticed the in-ear headphone thingy during the pre main event promos. Trent’s elbowing his opponent’s face as they stumble down the ropes is one of my favourite signature moves in AEW right now. Match was great, I always enjoy the pace and character that Jay brings to his matches and he came off as outclassing Trent in his debut who has looked very strong lately. Another decisive no bullshit finish to my delight, that counter was smooth AF.
  21. Great show enhanced by a great crowd. Loved that Moriarty/Dragon match, Danielson's strikes looked brutal and Lee was bumping like crazy from them, looked like he was getting shot every time he got hit. Caster is deceptively big, one of the few guys that didn't seem outsized by Wardlow. Everyone in that Inner Circle Explodes match is in so much better shape than they were just a few months ago. Ortiz has been looking crazy ripped lately, Hagger was looking in the best shape of his life, Jericho has certainly slimmed down in the last couple of months and Santana has been hitting those deadlifts hard. Surprised at the clean pin at the end. Kyle had me laughing out loud in that segment with Cole and the Bucks with the whole Parent of the Year and how many kids everyone had . "guys guys GUYS! YOU ALL HAVE BEAUTIFUL FAMILIES!". Perfect delivery from everyone. Rosa/Martinez was a fun brawl with a couple of brutal spots, specially that German from the top. A few botches but I feel they covered well. Rosa looked amazing in the Kill Bill outfit, a great look. Sammy and Darby was great with some crazy moves as we all expected. When I know they're going to wrestle I always get the same feeling as before I watch a Naito/Kota match, you know they're just gonna do some dangerous shit. That cutter out of nowhere counter to Darby's dive might be one of the best of it's kind because it makes sense that it would hurt more than just a regular dive. Ending was a bit cheap with the interference but fun match overall.
  22. Deffo 92/93 and Hell in a Cell HBK, good eye
  23. Opener was fun and continues the trend of Trent being a bit of a beast in every match for no reason. I saw this pairing a million times in New Japan but the hot American crowd makes for a more enjoyable experience. I like Bryan’s intentions and his logical but aggressive argument. He seems stern, stern but fair. Hook looked awesome as per usual and the crowd was molten for him. I don’t care, put the TNT title on him ASAP and let’s see how it goes. He gave me skinny Samoa Joe vibes today. LMAO at Statlander just being a savage in that promo video, can’t wait for their blowoff as both ladies are pretty hard hitting. I used to hate the Gunn kids for the first couple of years of AEW, they were green and annoying as fuck. Even when Austin was just in the crowd during the pandemic shows I couldn’t stand his face. But turning heel was the best move they’ve ever made and have actually developed into a pretty decent little team. I enjoyed Austin’s 1993 HBK cosplay tonight and they really got me on that nearfall after the belt shot, I was 99% we were getting a shock title switch right there because the whole sequence leading up to it was played perfectly. Not at all time classic or anything but a great defense and Jurassic Express’ title run continues to deliver IMO.
  24. This shows felt more chaotic and unexpected than most AEW shows, it’s nice breaking their structure from time to time. I thought Jay White was gonna be Isaiah’s opponent and they had just blown the surprise a minute earlier so was happy to see Lee come out. Cutler’s comment about “I read something on Reddit” made me lol. People surprised at Santana on the mic, but if you go back and watch any IC segment he was always the one other guy apart from Jericho who would get some serious mic time. Both he and Ortiz came off as bad asses for the first time in ages and they definitely should be the next champs, it’s way way way overdue. I was expecting Punk’s partner to be either Colt or Danhausen. Wasn’t very excited when it was Mox even tho he made for a better match. This match felt like the whole show, chaotic and unpredictable in the best way. That main event was fun and brutal stuff, I love violent sprints where guys don’t take ages setting up or teasing big spots, they just go ahead and do it, no fucks given. I thought Hangman was gonna do the Buckshot off the steps because I remember seeing him do that to Flip Gordon on a random silly BTE skit years ago and I thought it was extremely impressive. That and the bump on the steps were crazy shit. I’d like to see where they go with Cola and Hangman because this is the first time they interact since Cole died. I have no doubt Hangman will win if they face off in the PPV but it should be fun.
