  1. Twitter says The Medium has been delayed from Dec. 10 to Jan 31, 2021.
  2. If by ominous, you mean "well past time", I agree completely.
  3. Is that all? It could be worse. Kerbal Space Program 2 was delayed yesterday until fiscal 2023 (meaning April 2022-March 2023).
  4. This is usually how I get reviews. I get a bit annoyed when I have to actually read reviews. Much prefer to have reviews playing the background while I answer emails or whatever. People I never expected to get a PS5 early have gotten a PS5 early. I did a spit take when i realized the Metal Jesus Rocks dude from Youtube apparently rates high enough to get a console before the release date. To be fair, I don't get into the culture all that deeply. I generally know very little about the background of people like MJR so I'm never sure who is popular, who in a journalist and who is just an influencer, etc. I'm like that even with people I follow. For instance, I've never heard of Bruce Greene. I'm familiar with Alanah Pearce and watch her videos on Youtube, but that's basically the extent of my familiarity. Not sure if she's a social media influencer or a journalist. Didn't she used to work for IGN or a similar site? Read several reviews of Miles Morales after I realized the embargo must have been lifted. Very good. It sounds like it's a solid game regardless of console. Reviews I read mostly talked about story and gameplay improvements and seemed more impressed by lack of load times that visual upgrades (the PS4 footage I've seen looks great too). Apparently, the PS5 version has an optional 60 fps mode which trims back the visuals a bit to double the frame rate. I'll eventually own it on PS5 (might even play it), but I'm expecting to have a good time with PS4 later this month. Bring on the Pathless.
  5. The indie sale folder on the site/in the app has something like 200 games in it - and there are at least twice that many indie games on sale right now. Weird. I'm spending a lot this week, mostly indie games I own in physical form (Limited Run, iam8bit, imports) but would prefer to have a digital edition.

  7. To go along with the Sony talk, Best Buy is saying they won't have next gen consoles on shelves in stores until sometime in 2021. When they restock, they'll make them available online only. You will be able to buy a console online and pick it up at the store.
  8. As I posted a couple posts up the page, Sony said today no consoles will be available to sales in stores. Some will be available to order launch day and people who are picking up their pre-orders in-store will still be able to do so. Sony doesn’t want people swarming stores due to covid.
  9. Ninja Theory is hiring. I’ve seen postings online for several different positions. i’m really amused by the graphic that accompanies their Twitter postings.
  10. It’s going to be the era of expensive external storage options.
  11. Did we know that the Xbox Series S has half the storage space of the Series X? News to me. https://www.purexbox.com/news/2020/11/the_xbox_series_s_reportedly_has_364gb_of_usable_storage only 346gb usable of storage? I’m out. I’d prefer to pay more for Series X.

  13. Regarding the Mongo-Warlord debate, ringwork is a push in my mind. Neither guy was that good. But.... Mongo could talk, had personality, connected with the audience. Warlord had none of those things. I feel like Mongo gets the nod just for the intangibles. I'd probably give a slight nod to McMichael for ringwork, but neither guy was especially good.
  14. The DC omniverse rumors sound interesting, but unwieldy. Basically, it seems like everything will be in canon but writers will be free to stay faithful to continuity or not. DC seems to be trying to encourage more freedom in storytelling by letting writers write whatever they see fit, without editor or publisher interference. Supposedly, this is going to lead to editors being hands off. No one is going to be telling writers that they can't use Batman in their books, or that the story they pitched retcons Final Crisis, or that they can't use a character in their book because that character is dead, changed, went evil, is being used in Wonder Woman, etc. Basically, DC continuity will be merged with Elseworlds. It's an interesting approach, but I have no idea how this plays out in reality without seeming chaotic or unorganized. I don't dislike the idea, but I wonder if anyone thought about it for more than three min. Or, if the plug is so close to being pulled on the comics division as we know it, that it doesn't matter much in the long run. Supposed to be a Rebirth-style book in the Spring to explain all this so we'll see.
  15. Lex was back with his wife when Elizabeth died. Apparently, they separated but the wife gave him a second chance on the condition that he stay away from Elizabeth. The wife found out from the news reports of Liz's death that Lex was back with Liz and that's when she filed for divorce. I just watched the Savage-Elizabeth episode of Dark Side of the Ring last night. In the ep, Linda Hogan said that, when they first got together, Lex put Liz up in a townhouse (apartment?) in the same complex he and his wife were living in.
  16. Is there any reason to think Ross had a lot to do with that? I mean, Ross didn't self-publish Slobberknocker The hardcover edition was published by a division of Skyhorse Publishing. Skyhorse is technically an independent, but that's akin to considering WCW or TNA under the Carters to be an independent company. In the mid-2010's, Skyhorse published over 1,000 books a year under various imprints. I don't know much about how Slobberknocker came together, but it wouldn't be at all surprising if the the publisher decided to replace the professional writer assigned to the project. Maybe Ross was heavily involved in the process, but it's not too unusual for the subject of celebrity memoirs and autobiographies to have nothing more to do with the book other than getting paid and setting aside from time to be interviewed by the person actually doing the writing. It's the writer who deals with deadlines and editors and publishers complaints in most cases. My experience with the industry gave me the impression it's not usual for writers to go uncredited, or work on the book and see credit given to a writer who came in later (or earlier). Again, don't know much how Ross' book was put together or how involved he was with production, but I'm guessing he probably didn't have much to do with the cover credits. I mean, there's plenty of legitimate reasons to dislike Ross.
  17. Bravo got surprisingly good pushes back in the late 80's. He never quite got pushed as a top guy but he was a mainstay in the upper midcard, got on tv regularly, and usually got booked fairly well in matches and feuds. Not sure he should have been pushed over Rude, but.... Perfect was new to the company. He had short, unmemorable run in the early 80's, then came back and was put on tv two months before Survivor Series 1988. IIRC, they were doing the Mr. Perfect vignettes by SS, but still billing him as Curt Hennig and he was still wearing the black shorts he wore in the AWA. The singlets and Mr. Perfect persona really didn't get into swing until later. Harley? No... Just, no. I like Harley but his WWF run is just sad to me. I feel like he comes off like a dinosaur in late 80's WWE. Slow, immobile, not a great promo. His look and gravelly voice kinda underscored that the era was changing and guys like Harley weren't going to be tv-ideal. He was in his early 40's when '86 when he joined the company but looked a decade older to me.
  18. I feel sort of bad for Tucker. Heavy Machinery probably should have had a decent run as a tag team. I naively thought they would send Otis back to Raw to pick up the Mandy angle and Tucker would at least get a short feud with him before being taken off tv. Even his new ring attire looked sad. Tucker's heel push in gif form:
  19. II introduced the aliens, if that's what you're asking. I think I watched Highlander 2 at some point but I don't remember the plot. AC III was the game set in Colonial America. That may be my favorite in the series (though I've enjoyed all the AC games in the main series.
  20. Is New Jack really a reliable source on anything?
  21. A few people in our neighborhood handed out candy outside, and a few left their lights off, but I dunno that it was a lot. We were going to stay outside and hand out candy in the drive, but it was cold out so we went back to the usual plan. After comparing notes with the neighbors, we think we probably got 750-1,000 kids. Sounds about right. We ran out of candy, scavenged some from neighbors, ran out of that, and started handing out whatever goodies were in the house. Store-bought cookies, a tray of brownies, ice cream bars in the freezer, granola bars,. a box of powerbars, etc. Probably the best turnout in years.s Turnout the past few years has been more like 400-500 past 5-10 years. KInda amazed the various local governments, health depts. let it go on, but I was all in favor or having Halloween, so I'm glad they did.
