  1. I totally wasn't, but it makes sense now!
  2. To be perfectly honest, the only other exposure I've had with Ibushi was the Cruiser Weight Classic and I found so many other people in that one much more impressive or interesting, so yeah...
  3. Ok, where to begin with Dynamite? HOOK getting his first legit pinfall loss and OC's trusty punch being ineffective against Mox put the faces in a true do or die situation. OC seemed to lose his confidence in an instant. Swerve not getting a word in during the segment should have him pretty much explode on Hangman during the Texas Death Match (yay!), since Page kinda already got his revenge. Nana got off pretty easy, since he was walking out on his own. Sky Blue vs Red Velvet was really entertaining until the ugly ending, but Blue is showing hundredfold more personality during her matches now, so that mist truly was a gift from Julia Hart. She might even win the title on the PPV. Young Bucks cheat to get the advantage to win clean. Boo! The match was crazy. The PPV tag should be interesting. Should probably watch Omega/Page vs Bucks and Jericho/MJF vs Bucks before that one to see if there are any similarly in strategy? The street fight had some good stuff but I fell asleep twice trying to get through in the evening and in the morning. It's good that Adam Cole pointed out that Roddy could be "The Devil"? Does that take him out of the running...or not? That Cruz guy in the Samoa Joe squash was super entertaining during every second of his short appearance. MJF's promo was good, but White made some logical points as well. The thing is though, there's so many other people gunning for MJF's title AFTER Full Gear, that I don't like White's chances here!
  4. The work week is at an end, so today I had to put in everything I had into one trapbar workout. The only lift under 200kg was 2x393lbs (178,5kg) without gloves standing on two blocks for a big deficit. Then with gloves 1x466 off the same deficit. Then off the small deficit (one smaller block) 1x494,5 and with Versas (which stayed on from that point on), 1x494,5 off a larger deficit (one larger block). Then 1x516,5 off the floor level, and after that everything was off blocks. 2x560,5 and 1x611,5 off half blocks, 1x684 off 2/3 blocks and 1x727 off 3/4 blocks. Then, off the full blocks 1x790 (after that one, I even took my shoes off) 1x833, 1x833, 1x790, 1x738,5, 3x738,5 (at this point the shoes went back on) 3x695, 4x611,5, 4x674. I opted NOT to do the long rest-pause sets with under 300kg stuff (as there had already been rest-pause stuff in anything more than one rep). I did do 3 sets of shrugs with 400, 305 and 195. If I counted correctly, I did 21 reps overall with more than 305kg within 10 "sets", half of which were just singles and almost 10 of those reps were 330kg+, plus 7 reps between 211-277kg. And I still walked away from that in one piece and rode the bike home, as usual. I'd say that I did alright. Now four days of rest and a lot of calories.
  5. Ok, I took Monday off but the sitting overhead press and incline dumbell bench seem to be progressing nicely. Got 8, 8 and 5 with the 88's on ohp on Tuesday, with 8 sets overall plus 9 sets of hammer curls with corresponding weights from 66's to 88's and one slow full range of motion set with 44's. Today, I did 5 sets of incline dumbell bench with 88's with 58 reps in total (from 14 to 10 per set), 5 sets of shrugs with 88's and one set with 53's holding the weights at the bottom of each rep for three seconds before pushing back up. I got close to 10 reps, but wasn't counting. There were also some curls done with 26,5's to 39,5's. And a decent bit of abs on both days. So that leaves something for the legs for tomorrow.
  6. Putting the weights back down is the only shit I do properly!! Fuck everyone who doesn't!
  7. Wish I could see stuff like this these days!
  8. I was in high school and bought a WCW magazine and '93 Beach Blast looked like the best show ever! I envy your wrestling life so much right now!
  9. Is anyone else watching The Wrestlers series on Netflix? Al Snow and the new owners trying to keep OVW afloat.
  10. Seeing BB'92 live puts you in some elite company, I'll tell you that much!
  11. Hard to beat the WWF house show in 2002 with every Ruthless Aggression Era superstar save for Undertaker and Batista who wasn't really a thing yet, and Orton who was still hurt. The main event was Edge & Rey vs Angle & that guy who did that one thing. The first wrestling show in Finland. But the Over The Top Wrestling Wrestlerama 2017 in Dublin takes the cake for seeing British Strong Style against War Machine and Jeff Cobb live and having been mistaken for a wrestler during the intermission! That's two out of 3 live wrestling experiences of my life, so I can hardly contribute to this thread, as is.
  12. Wasn't this generally thought of as one of the best debuts/ debut angles at the time and for a long time afterwards?
  13. Granted, I have only read about this in magazines and they can unreliable af, but since MX were faces at the time, they actually gave up the US Tag titles on their own accord. Then, got destroyed by the newly (and briefly) heel Road Warriors for the World Tag Titles, before tournament to crown the new US tag champions was even finished, making them look like idiots in the process. This was not helped by the fact that this was followed by their least successful year (plus) as a team, which continued until they beat Pillman and Zenk for their last reign as US tag champs at Capitol Combat'90 (which was the first WCW PPV I saw and owned on tape).
  14. It would definitely be a welcome break in traditional wrestling storytelling. Partners who stay friends and always have each others' backs, even when they are doing their own thing and don't have to be in the same storylines all the time. Kinda like Buffy and Angel, when Angel kept showing up to assist when things looked the bleakest. We already have something like that in Sting and Darby, but there could be more of that. Also, I don't need to see MJF vs Cole again. The one big match was enough for now, thanks.
  15. Wasn't she sacrificing herself to save someone (Rosemary?) in the Underworld Universe last time she was in (Artist Formerly Known as) Impact Wrestling? There's a ready-made story for her to jump right back in, in a division that is actually respected and given plenty of stuff to do each week! She can say she used the portal left open by Taya Valkyrie in order to get back into the above ground universe, that has mysteriously turned back into TNA while she's been "dead".
  16. Thanks @Greggulator for explaining All About Eve for us. I have never seen the film, but am a big fan of the band by the same name!
  17. So yeah, I said I get to choose which workout I would do today, but while watching Dynamite this morning, it occurred to me, why choose, if you can fucking do them both! So, bench, squat-machine, seal-row and calf raises it was! Bench didn't go as well as previous weeks, but I did 8 good to half decent reps with 262 but around 270 to 285 stuff got way worse. On the way back down it was fine, though. Best set on the squat machine was 8x423, but I liked how deep I could get with most of the reps, especially towards the end. The top sets on seal-row were with 286 and 275, but I'd be lying if I claimed to have gotten even one full range rep with those. The first or second rep with 264 was pretty full range on both of those sets and the lighter ones were fine. Did something like 30 reps with 154 at the end, 20 first of which were non-stop. Calf raises were with the same weights as squats, nothing to report. It was OK. So, 5 days of workouts in 4 days! I think I deserve some wine on the weekend. Booked another sports massage appointment for tomorrow morning. I hope it actually happens this time!
  18. Man, that was a fine episode! Opener was good, glad to see that Salt of the Earth hasn't been totally forgotten. Everyone seems to be giving Garcia props. Jericho, Callis now even MJF. Sting and Darby destroyed The Outrunners, I wish I could have heard their entrance theme at least. Swerve vs Penta was one of the best Penta singles matches I think I have ever seen. Swerve focusing on the fingers was a dick-move that took away like half of everything Penta does during a match. Getting hooked on the ropes with the soles of his feet so Swerve could double stomp him was pretty swank! A lot of other good stuff in there as well! Hangman destroying Swerve after the match could lead to a Texas Death Match, yet! Main event was also really good. Both guys were on fire! The attack on The Assclaimed makes me look at Roddy suspiciously again! He said he would show everyone who he really is and then, nothing. It's just that he has an apparent alibi for the previous attack. This should prove that the guy in the devil mask isn't MJF, though. I was shocked that Joe beat Lee that decisively and even more shocked that he gave up the ROH TV title. He better become the World champion at some point after that one!
  19. I decided to do trapbar today, so I can pick squats and calves or bench and seal row tomorrow. Started with 2x371 without gloves, standing on two blocks. Then with gloves 1x466 off the same deficit. Then 1x494,5 off of one high block. Those took a lot out of me, so 560,5 off the floor was a no-go, even with Versas, so I switched to blocks. Getting 2x560,5 off of one block-level, followed by 1x582,5 and 1x604,5 off the same. Then 1x684 off the 1,5 half block level and 1x727 off slightly less than full two blocks. Off the full two blocks I did two or three singles with 789,5, I'm not sure. I knew enough not to go for 832,5 this week, but I did 1+2 with 768,5, then 3x684 and 5x674. No super long lighter sets this week, I did 3x585 and one set of shrugs with 295 and said that's it. I felt really good about the early lighter lifts off a deficit, those had to be among the best I've ever done. The floor level isn't where I want it to be, but otherwise it was really good. 15 reps overall with 300+ kilos and roughly half of those 330+ kilos. Can't complain.
  20. I AM assuming this means that they offered to give them 8 super rare wrestling action figures for the TV deal.
  21. Two workouts in so, and the only things worth writing about are that I was able to do 2x8 with the 88's on the straight-up incline bench on Monday. 8 sets overall ranging from 2x66lbs to 2x88lbs with hammer curls after each set (actually 3 sets of those with 88's, as one attempt to get them into the ohp position failed). I continued on Tuesday with the actual incline dumbell press and did 6 sets with 88's, but getting at least 2 reps less overall than I did last week with only 5 sets. Did shrugs after each set and also some side and rear delt stuff, lat pulldowns with resistance bands and some light curls. Now I need to figure out what will I do today and tomorrow, as it is very unlikely that I will get an actual gym workout in on Friday. Today has to be one of the two leg day variants, in any case.
  22. A couple of things about the week previous: Penta v Kommander v Vikingo got awesome by the end, and I figured that Vikingo's AAA title was on the line, so Penta winning was a big surprise. RUSH still wrestling like an absolute dickhead despite getting hot tags and shit in the main event was funny. But he wanted to point out that "no, I haven't gone soft" and that point was certainly made. I also thought, hey RUSH could go after Eddie and the ROH title, too! Archer vs Darby was very entertaining, and Jake leading The Righteous and Archer makes for a pretty cool, albeit absolutely unnecessary faction. There was also bunch of other stuff happening. Trent vs Garcia was very good. No surprise there. This week has matches scheduled and a few of them will most likely rock. Hopefully Lee vs Joe gets enough time before Shane Taylor butts in, because no way is he going to let Lee succeed where he just recently failed.
  23. Juggernaut Jordan and Trinity with huge wins! Alex Shelley seems to be in a phenomenal shape, Walking Weapon seems to be his usual cyborg self. Between the main event, X-division opener, the insane tag title match AND Ospreay vs Bailey, this was definitely worth every penny, especially for free like this! Oh, and Shelley legitimized his reign here with a big win. Just hoping that Moose won't ruin things for him at Hard to Kill!
  24. To say that I had a crazy workout week is an understatement, as everything except for Sunday evening went exceedingly well. Sunday, I arrived a bit too late before the night shift and probably hadn't yet recovered from Friday's workout. The 88lb single arm standing overhead press didn't happen here, nor could I complete it at any point during the week. I managed one set of 5 with the 88's on the seat straight-up incline bench OHP, but every other set was lighter. Sets were as follows: 75's, 88's, 83,5's, 79's, 75's, 70,5's, 66's. Reps were around 5-6 per set. Hammer curls after each set but two sets with 88's, due to failing one attempt at OHP with them. Not much time for anything else before work. Monday I continued with the actual incline dumbell press. It is crazy how much easier it is to get the dumbells into the position, when there is room to lean back properly. With the two notches incline on the bench, I did 5 sets with the 88's starting from 12 reps and last two being 7. After each set I continued with shrugs and between sets I did a set of resistance band lat pull downs. Also some light shoulder work and curls afterwards. Tried to work my abs extra hard at the end due to having no time for them on Sunday. Tuesday was legday, but my friend/co-worker was doing rack pull (or standard deadlift off the blocks) and when he was at 463, I also gave it a go and did a set of 3. Squat machine sets went as follows: 10x205, 8x249, 7x343,5, 7x387,5 and 8x444. Then 3 sets of calf raises with 482 and then starting to go back using most of the same weights as going up (I think I skipped 387,5 on the way down, though). One set of sitting calf raises with an 88 dumbell on top of my knee and that's all that I had time for. Wednesday was incline seal row/ regular bench combo. Top sets for seal row were with 270, sandwhiched by sets with 264. Again, first couple reps were pretty good and then started to get much worse. The sets with 243 and 220 went really well, though. And the finishing set with 154 was more than 20 reps overall. Bench went well, too. 3-4 reps with 280, up from 1 and a quarter with 291 all the way to one and 3 shitty partials and 1 plus two shitty partials with 295. Going back down, the reps were pretty ugly until around 252, but I was moving more weight than I had on regular bench in quite a while so, I gave zero shits about the quality of the reps. At 154 I did wider grip and stopped each rep on the chest for a bit. After 12 reps like that I did a few sets of 3 with 10 second rest pause in between, until I could only do 2 (that was maybe 3 or 4 sets). Last night was trapbar and that was pretty nuts. Started with 5x305 without gloves standing on two blocks (the bottoms of my shoes roghly at low handle level) then with gloves 2x399. Then, from slightly lower 1x466 and with Versas 1x493, lower but still off a deficit. Then 1x539 off the floor. Then moving onto the blocks, I did 1x582,5 off a decent height, then 1x684 off the same height I have done in recent weeks. Then 738 off the same height as last week, then took my shoes off for 790 from the same distance (minus maybe inch and a half from the shoes) and got it up once. Then, with the shoes back on, but nothing but the floor beneath my feet I managed to get 832,5 up again. I also got it up on a second try after a decent breather, but couldn't lock out, as I felt the velcro on my left Versa starting to give out, so I quickly put the weight back down. Then one more rep with 790, but from the shorter distance this time and 4x695. After that it was 13x600 using rest pause and 13x505,5 off a better distance also with rest pause. Then one long set of shrugs with 410 and I was done. Feeling pretty bad ass after that one. Not bad ass enough to attempt the 88 single arm ohp, though. The last couple of months of the year will be a bit different, as I'll be having more time off from work. 6 of those days will unfortunately be unpaid time off, but I'm still welcoming the extra recovery. On top of those 6 days I'll have about 15 paid days off (plus weekends) by the end of the year. Can you say "dirty bulk"? I'm looking forward to it. This afternoon, I weighed 190,5 lbs, looking very solid. I will try my best to reach 200 again for a few hours by Sunday evening!
