After 50 matches in a row that go 10+ minutes, even the forgone conclusion ones, you go numb to it. It has no impact. It has no purpose. It doesn't do anything for the performers except churn content and waste time. I'm not advocating for a Superstars format to return where it's 50 squashes in a row either. Because then you go numb to squashes. What I'm advocating for is a fluid format that sometimes has 5 minute competitive sprints. Sometimes there's a squash. Sometimes there's a competitive 10 minute enhancement match. Sometimes you get that dope 20+ minute epic that wows you. What I'd like to see is less predictability in formatting. Because then you never peg down what the format is and you don't go numb to it. Dynamite is 6 matches. Every week. No wavering from it. Unless it's a Blood & Guts episode. One of those 6 matches features the women. All of them go 10+ minutes. A more effective way to format the show is to vary the amount of matches and the length of matches. On paper I don't have an issue with Omega giving Alan Angels what he did. Or even giving Blake Christian that. If the amount of matches and length of matches varied, those would stand out as giving those guys some shine and trying to raise their stock. But because long matches are the norm, it doesn't do any of that and actually starts to diminish your star performer. Collision they do have a little bit of fluidity in the formatting. But I don't watch Collision very often. That's a whole different subject that would just muddy my point here. My point here is that variety is necessary for wrestling shows to be exciting. Dynamite hasn't been exciting in a long time.

If everyone is elite no one is elite. If everyone has a belt no one has a belt. If you push everyone as equals no one gets mega over. You don't get to have your cake an eat it too. If you throw someone on TV who hasn't been on in a long time, who they have no plans for, and that person hangs with Omega for 15... that doesn't bring them up to Omega's elite level. That brings Omega down. It's just what the optics are. Just because a match is long, doesn't mean you gain something from it. Just having him go long doesn't raise his stock. Going long and losing 50 times in a row just means you're a jobber and the best in AEW have trouble beating jobbers. You can't protect everyone. When you do everyone just blends together as equals and no one stands out. And yes matches going long is a form of protection so the performer doesn't feel slighted. Would Warrior beating Honky Tonk at Summer Slam 88 have meant as much if they went 15 minutes? Would Waltman beating Razor have meant as much had he been going 15 minutes in the weeks leading up to that win in close defeats?

Unpopular opinion (maybe?), AEW doesn't do enough squash matches. Even enhancement matches are 15 minutes long and have a commercial break. It's a real draining format. They need to switch shit up and do a few short matches and a few squashes here and there. I know Collision is a little bit looser than Dynamite when it comes to that but it's still too much. One thing that clouds TK's booking is his fandom (in my opinion). He's a fan and wants to have all these long matches because he wants everyone to show their best stuff each time out. But a good showing means more when long matches aren't the norm.

If you lose every match, you're a jobber. He's doing the job. Has he ever won a match in AEW? (ROH doesn't count). In this day and age you can rehab anyone and make them meaningful. But dude is the definition of a jobber right now. He's talented but he loses all the time. Would you have less of an issue if he used enhancement talent instead of the word jobber?

WRESTLEMANIA XLI - 4/19 & 4/20/2025

Yeah he had one in AEW that was too close, they actually had to take it down and stop selling it lol. -
Looking more and more like The Giants will end up with Abdul Carter if they stay at 3. I really want Sheduer. But I get using the number 3 pick on someone graded where he is defies current draft logic. Better mentally prepare now for a season with Big Russ as my QB1.

16 years between year long reigns is kind of mind blowing. 1989 when Savage dropped it until 2005 when Cena hit his year. -
DYNASTY, Season 2 - 4/6/2025

In before the "Idk where you guys are getting this from, no other wrestling spaces dislike The Deathriders like DVDVR does" post lol. The evidence I bring forth is TK being asked about it at the scrum. Clearly it's a bigger thing than just here if he's getting asked if he ever considers pivoting when the crowd is disliking a story. Hate to keep dwelling on the negative but it's such an overwhelming grey cloud hovering over the whole company it really drags even the fun stuff down (for me). -
The idea came because you can't change your vote in a poll. And there were a lot of people who said they voted yes but they're a big nope now. We were curious how different the results would be three months later for this reign of absolute garbage.

DYNASTY, Season 2 - 4/6/2025
NoFistsJustFlips replied to Dolfan in NYC's topic in ALL ELITE WRESTLING
AEW where the best wrestle. Until the main event. Then they gently rock you to sleep with some boring ass trash lol. Anyone expecting Swerve to win, I wish I had your optimism in life. TK's not moving off his plan that's been written in his notebook for a year. That triple threat was other-worldy. Such high degree of difficulty, such innovation, such execution. It's now my favorite triple threat ever just barely beating out Joe vs AJ vs Christopher Daniels. -
Really should have waited until tomorrow to start this one. Gonna be a lot of annoyed reactions to how that main event just played out. 4 to 6 so far makes it seem way closer than it really is. At this point it's gotta be 90% hate.

Thought the Fenix showcase was brought down a few notches by a shakey performance from Frazier. I know he's solid but I think the moment was too big for him. Almost hurt Fenix on his dive. Popped him hardddddd with his knee. Just ugly. Dig Penta & Fenix having such similar logo designs. WWE has always been so good at branding and marketing. The Charlotte and Tiffany segment was extra cringe. Charlotte looked really phased by the crowds intense hate. Clearly the lines were scripted but Charlotte kept trying to walk over Tiffany's lines and it was just a big swing and a miss for me. Neither of them came out better than they went into that segment. Feel for Owens. Surgery sucks enough as it is. Finding out two weeks before Mania and getting pulled after putting in such a solid 6 months of work leading up to it is roughhh.

Its NXT dude. There's no plan for anyone. There's never been a plan for anyone. There wasn't a plan for Tyson Kidd in 2014 other than hey let's let him have good matches. There wasn't a plan for leprechaun Becky. There isn't a plan for Chase U or Tony DeAngelo. There wasn't a plan for AOP. It's all just content and reps. You are way over thinking it. Starks is a much bigger deal than anyone in NXT except Trick & Oba. I dont regularly watch NXT. So maybe I'm missing out on some intangibles. But from my perspective the men's roster is super jobbery right now. It's like 95 WWE. It's all cheese gimmicks and Smokey Mountain dudes showing up (sorry in this case TNA not SMW lol). Acting like you have real tangible talent getting shafted because Starks & Spears are getting midcard title runs to fill content is a real pearl clutching stance in my opinion. (And again for emphasis, I consider my opinion uneducated here because Im not a regular watcher).

I dont know the answer to the viewership question. But even if viewership is up and taken at face value let's say 1million a week... it's not translating to ticket sales. PPVs still do realllyyyy well. But the tv audience is awful. 2k-3k for Dynamite and what like 1500 for Collision? That's why the numbers are a little bit of a tough sell. Even if people are watching, people aren't excited enough by what they see to buy tickets and go to the TVs. That's a problem.

I dont really understand why they think shaving off 5 minutes of game time is worth the confusion. Just make it 15 minute periods for both regular season & post season. Obviously the periods continue until a winner in the posts season. But why not just make it uniform? Its 5 minutes of game time more. Just a weird hill for the league to die on.

The discourse on social media around potentially banning the Tush Push is really annoying to me. No it's not up for getting banned to hurt The Eagles. It's up for being banned for two reasons. 1) It's borning and not in the spirit of the game. Just like extra points got moved back due to being a boring play, the Tush Push is just a boring forgone concussion thats not visually exciting. It's also not in the spirit of the game. Just handing the ball to a dude and everyone shoving him isn't professional football. It's rugby. 2) Injury concerns. This is the one pissing everyone off on Twitter. But I get it. Even if players aren't being taken out of games, it's a play where all 11 guys on both sides bash thier heads into each other every time. It's one of those war of attrition plays. How many head collisions is too many? Ban that thing and let's move on.

It's odd to me when people complain about someone's win / loss stuff, at least in WWE. Do you really think Punk is walking into Triple H's office and telling him if he's willing to win or lose? Not a chance. If you dont like his booking, that's a knock for creative not Punk. You're not gonna have a single person in WWE that could get away with that outside of The Rock. Not even Roman can pull that and get away with it. Just always a weird talking point when people use that as a criticism of Punk the performer. The performer is not making those calls. -
I dont watch the TV so I could be way off base here. But isn't it plausible the kayfabe plan from The Rock is to break Cody with Cena? Cena takes off with the belt. Cody is demoralized and disillusioned, thus easier to control afterwards. That's not how the story will play out. But it's at least a plausible motivation for The Rock. It's not as directionless as you make it seem. It's just they haven't gotten to the heavy lifting stuff without The Rock around. Keep in mind how slow The Bloodline stories moved. This is the story for the rest of 2025. Expecting all the answers and exposition in time for Wrestlemania is setting yourself up for annoyance.

The NFL schedule is structured around the importance of winning your division. You play your fellow division rivals twice every year. If the seeding got changed to strictly record only it would really kind of make all that pointless. It really messes with the clean and easy to understand current seeding. Win your division and you're rewarded with a home game, regardless of record. Otherwise 2 out of the 3 games in the NFC Wildcard would have been hosted by NFC North teams and then guaranteed another in Divisional week. That doesn't seem balanced to me. Its an equal luck of the draw kind of thing. Who knows if you're division will be tough or easy. But no matter what, if you win a division title you get that home game. Having three teams in the same division get home games and the rest of the conference not, seems awfully short sighted and unfair. The ones that I hope pass are aligning Playoff OT & Regular OT to be the same, and banning the Tush Push.

A dome in a cold weather city just seems so blasphemous. That killer Steelers at Browns snow game last year wont be able to happen again. I get why they're doing it. But I don't have to like it.

WWE TV - 3/17 - 3/23/2025 - I'm Shipping Up To Bronson
NoFistsJustFlips replied to Dolfan in NYC's topic in WWE PROGRAMMING
It makes perfect sense to me. It's Rocky 3. Cody feels untouchable. He gave an over confident heel promo in a baby face wrapper. Now when Cena beats him he can do some introspection and realize he lost the eye of the tiger. Then he spends the year getting that fire back and beating Cena in his retirement match and getting the belt back for the next Mania season. I loved Cena's promo. I thought he struck a pretty perfect balance. I know people wanted cool heel Cena like nWo Hogan. But this is a much better motivation to tell stories with. I respect the hel out of him being willing to canabalize his merch sales by shit talking people wearing his shirts too. Good touch. -
Dexter Original Sin / Dexter Resurrection
NoFistsJustFlips replied to NoFistsJustFlips's topic in MOVIES & TV
The cast for Resurrection is wild. In addition to a Trinity appearance and Batista & Harrison coming back, the new cast include Peter Dinklage, Eric Stonestreet, Uma Thurman, Krysten Ritter, David Dastmalchian, and Neil Patrick Harris. -
In an ideal situation (admittedly not current day AEW), adding the known quantities help you gain an audience and close the gap. What's most fun to watch isn't always what helps your business the most. Pre-Hogan 1994 WCW was all kinds of awesome. But it was not making them money. So you have to balance the expectations of what you would enjoy most vs knowing they'll have to make decisions that don't entertain you as much for business purposes. Again its not a great analogy for the current era of AEW. Because even with all the people with lots of TV experience, they are in the most down period of the whole company. But in theory you have to understand the swings they're taking here. Even if it's not working.

I bet when you do one the voter turn out will be much lower due to apathy. People are that turned off by it they'll avoid the whole thread lol. Next month being 3 month since the original sounds good to me. If it's right after Dynasty where Swerve loses there might be some fire in those NO votes lol.
