  1. Wait what The Bridge has been great this season. The first few episodes were all over the place but it came into focus a few episodes ago and it's firing on all cylinders. The Bridge has been awesome this season! They can't cancel it! I forbid it! Sad Fausto just wants to go to a quincenera.
  2. 95% of them are going to be bootlegs that people bought on Baltimore street Fools. The good bootlegs are at Lexington Market by the light rail stop.
  3. LOL they've been doing that forever. Fucking hilarious spot. It's better when the fans chant "holy shit" afterwards...or when it's no DQ and they use an actual rake. That Kyle/AJ match looks awesome. A battle of world champions, actually. Did PWG demand Kyle not job?
  4. He pales in comparison to other managers.

  6. To me, there's just something untoward about advertising whose sole focus is dumb stereotypes of what "being a man" is about, doubly so considering what's going on right now. Beer companies, truck companies and dick pill companies all advertise during NFL games and all use the same type of lazy gender stereotype based advertising. As far as the message that goes to the audience's brain goes, there's a short walk from "you are a manly motherfucker with a Ford F-950 who builds things" to "you are a manly motherfucker and no bitch better mouth off to you."
  7. AB is talking out both sides of its mouth. How can you come down on domestic violence when your advertising is mostly based on MANLY MOTHERFUCKERS BEING MANLY? Catering to and fostering an environment of hyper masculinity sure doesn't help. AB's advertising specifically caters to and fosters an image of guys who would say "I am a man motherfucker no bitch better step to me."
  8. Watts isn't a racist, he just believes in a white business owner's right not to serve coloreds if he doesn't want to.
  9. Yeah, I'll second Wizard & Glass. I would say it was the last great book in the series. I think the series went off the rails when King decided he had to hurry up and finish it. The first four books each had between 4 - 6 years between them. The last three came out in a two year span. That ending -- -- bugged the shit out of me because I started reading the series when I was like 14. I read the last book when I was 30. So I essentially had 16 years invested in this only to get a horrible finish. I'm surprised Roland's big lesson was "don't forget to drink your Ovaltine."
  10. My booking philosophies are very very different from Disco's, but I do agree with him that typically, long matches are bad for ratings. There is plenty I don't agree with, which is why it's fun for me to chat with him. He comes from the Vince Russo school of booking. I come from the Pat Patterson school of booking. Since I bite my tongue a lot of the time, Disco may have no idea just how different my views are. A local promotion just hired me to start booking their shows and Ed is going to come to the show with me this weekend. I'm going to pick Ed's brain and see where our thoughts differ. Happy to see that there are several people on DVDVR that listen to the podcasts. I've stated it before on the show, but I'll say it again. My youth was consumed by RSPW and DVDVR and I try to proudly represent the wrestling trolls of the world. I know I haven't posted in a long time, but I never stopped reading and I love all of you guys. The Vince Russo School of Booking The Bernie Madoff School of Personal Finance MSL, can anything be done about Alice's presence on Cornette's show? I'd love to listen to him but she's beyond awful.
  11. The Crimson King, Stephen King's ultimate big bad, the supreme evil behind all horrible events in so many books, the entity working to destroy reality as we know it and who just might have the power to do it... Who was erased, literally, from existence by a deux ex machina character introduced shortly before. I think I will live out the rest of my days butthurt over the horrible demises of Flagg and the King and the godawful ending of that series.
  12. The whole show is going to be like your smug nerdy friend sitting next to you and elbowing you in the ribs, raising his eyebrows and saying, "see that person? Know who he's going to become? Huh? Huh?" They're apparently going to tease a different person bound to become The Joker in every episode. Sorry, but the Joker is a force of nature with no origin story (or at least, one that is multiple choice).
  13. LOL Every single American in an African fed is a scufflin' hillbilly.
  14. Hero's gotten a little chunky but I thought Murdoch and Gordy were the patron saints of this site? Did Kevin Dunn and Vince McMahon take over DVDVR? Are we now pushing Rene Dupree for the HOF?
  15. Gotham looks horrible. Who knew Batman's entire rogue's gallery lived in Gotham and were at large as kids? The whole thing feels like it's going to be wink wink nudge nudge fanservice.
  16. Michael Myers knowing how to drive at all
  17. I assumed the Watts/JR show would be an hour of those deep throating sounds quackquackquack
  18. Vince Russo is the embodiment of the Peter Principle in pro wrestling.
  19. I'd bet that was a mistake in the book and he's just throwing in that explanation to cover for it.
  20. I'll give you Skylar, who was pretty much rational and decent and doesn't deserve the flack people gave the character and the actress. A lot of people don't understand that Breaking Bad was written to be a really different kind of show where the protagonist gradually becomes a guy you root against. That's really against the grain and I think most of the audience missed it and was just thinking "Walt's the good guy, root for him." Meanwhile, he turned into an ego-driven, in over his head jackass who was most assuredly not "just looking out for his family." Skylar got a lot of undue criticism. Betty Draper, on the other hand, is horrible.
  21. ha! Good point. I guess Mickey is just pathetic while Abby is insane and looking to fuck up everything for everyone. Mickey's character really shows the difference between network TV and cable. On a network show, Mickey would have become Poochie from the Simpsons. Execs would have seen the positive reviews for the character from fans and critics and would have insisted more time for his character, making him a one-note, funny antihero who would become the focus of the show over time. Instead, his character is shown time and again to be pathetic and sad. He thinks he's still the king like he was in whatever Southie shithole he ruled over in his younger days, but he's really an out of touch nobody. We can laugh at his antics but meanwhile he's trying to desperately woo a lost love, who has moved on to a better life, with two joints and a bobo handbag. Someone else here sort of said it earlier, but on a network, Ray Donovan would just be Scandal, with Ray and his wacky sidekicks being too cool for school and fixing slick Hollywood problems.
  22. Oh, yeah, I mean he explained that in his afterword. But just because he admitted it was going to be hugely frustrating for the reader didn't make it any less, you know, hugely frustrating. And again: I didn't need everything answered. But the way he essentially gave away nothing was annoying. I forgot about the afterword. That's hilarious. Did he try to pin it on the reader like he did in the Dark Tower series? To paraphrase, "don't bother reading this last chapter because it's not really a great ending...and if you actually want a satisfying ending, well, you're just a shallow person because it's the journey, not the destination."
  23. Walter Junior shoots because he's tired of playing a character with CP, because Russo doesn't realize the actor has CP in real life. Also, the entire subplot with Don Elegado, Gus, Gus' boyfriend, Hector and the poisoned tequila is scrapped because "nobody cares about Mexicans." The show is moved to New York, obviously.
  24. Holy fuck. Holy fuck. I walk around my house saying, "WHEAH YA BEEN RAY?!?!?" She was written to be sort of sympathetic last season but this season she's just insane and irrational. Calling her cop boyfriend because her daughter was at Ray's house? "I thought you were all in?!" Just wow. I wanted to put her "all in" a dumpster someplace. Either the cop boyfriend is a setup or he's the most pathetic, desperate character in TV history because I cannot see how anyone would want to be with someone this unappealing.
  25. My god. That's perfect. I feel like Tommy would be the only person in the world who would truly understand Vince and vice versa.
