  1. Too bad it's Ultima Lucha and not NJPW. He'd fill in the alleged plot holes himself and pimp the storylines for a year-end award
  2. The funny thing about Dunn is that every defender, or dude just trying to be contrarian for fun, has the same defense. "Everything we know about him comes from second hand sources." Like everything we "know" about every other person involved in wrestling isn't second hand? I never saw Orton shit in any bags nor have I heard him talk about it. I never heard Michael Hayes drop the old N bomb. With a few exceptions, everything we think we know about the personalities of anyone in wrestling is either secondhand information or inferred by their actions. Yet somehow, this is a valid defense when it comes to Kevin Dunn.
  3. Wait, Nick Stahl has fallen on hard times and is having drug issues? The John Connor Curse! Somebody tell Bale to watch himself.
  4. Guys not fat shamed by Vince: Renee Dupree, Rob Conway, Matt Morgan etc etc
  5. Owens doesn't look like the typical male underwear models that the latent homosexuals exec producer and chairman typically like to see roll around mostly naked compete. ps No diss intended to my out and proud gay bros
  6. Maybe it's Kevin Dunn, the popular character actor (#wrestlingbubble)
  7. Probably refereed by Drake Younger, while we're at it. With Samoa Joe on the undercard as we desperately wait for El Generico to heal and come back. NXT is the most bizarre thing in the world to 5 years ago me.
  8. Jingus mentioned Thandie Newton. She's definitely not a "one hit wonder" or someone who "never made it" but she fits the expanded definition some of us are using here. I remember when Mission Impossible 2 came out and she was being hailed everywhere as the new It Girl posided to take over and get all the big roles. She certainly didn't live up to that.
  9. As Konnan would say (every 5 minutes) BOOM! I'm not hating, only stating.
  10. Harbaugh is an obnoxious lunatic. It's easy to keep an obnoxious lunatic around when he's winning but as soon as you collapse the way the Niners did last season, it's time to go.
  11. Well, word is HHH is being given everything he needs to ensure NXT is a huge success in order to prove to the stockholders that he can carry the company when Vince finally explodes and crumbles to ash like we know he will. Stockholders have always been wary of HHH because he's just a wrestler, not a MBA or whatever those of us in the rich white guy circle jerk that is big business consider important. NXT's success and, in turn, HHH's success, makes WWE look more stable and helps with the stock numbers. Vince and company are essentially working the stockholders.
  12. Am I correct in remembering that Vince blew one quad sliding into the ring and blew the other by favoring the injured leg? Fucking spectacular. Remember, kids: too much steroids, bodybuilding, and no other training means your muscles will be all show and no go. Seriously, do not just shoot yourself full of irradiated horse piss and do 3000 leg extensions.
  13. I think we always called them "preliminary wrestlers" when I was a kid. That was the Apter mags' influence, I think.
  14. I really enjoyed the book but it feels unfilmable. Also, the rights for the music and the video game characters might be pretty expensive. I wonder what the budget will look like. While it was a pretty good selling book, it wasn't the Hunger Games as far as having a massive, built-in, rabid audience goes. Why compare it to a sterotypical (but admittedly great) YA trilogy? It's a stand-alone book (for now) aimed at an older, geekier audience? The ones who are helping to drive the MCU and comic book movie boom! As far as being unfilmable, the rights are the biggest concern (but Spielberg can probably make some things happen), otherwise the book is basically a movie script. I wasn't comparing it to Hunger Games because I think Player One is an example of YA, I was comparing it as an example of the type of books Hollywood throws big budgets behind; books with a huge audience already there who will see the movie on its opening weekend. Player One was a hit but hardly big enough to be considered a sure thing by risk-averse Hollywood. So I'm wondering what kind of budget it'll get. I didn't know Spielberg was involved so maybe we're good. Or to simplify... Hunger Games: sold a shit ton and has a rabid fanbase. Gets a gigantic budget because studios know they'll recoup it easily because that fanbase will go see it. Ready Player One: not so much
  15. Vince McMahon says HAHAHA THAT SOUNDS BLACK ENOUGH I MEAN GOD DAMMIT I CAN'T TRADEMARK TYRONE JOHNSON SO THIS WILL HAVE TO DO
  16. I have to say that I didn't care enough about Shayla to care that she died. She was pretty underwritten and only characterized as the sexy girl who fucks the protagonist and who gets him drugs. I guess we're supposed to identify strongly enough about Elliott to care about the people he cares about, but it just wasn't there. You really have to work to establish a relationship before you kill off a character to make us care. Yes, it was a gut-punch to realize that Elliott led to Shayla hooking up with Vera but it their meet-cute was too little, too late.
  17. Fenn was in a good chunk of Ray Donovan last season and was very good in the role. Not saying she's "back on top," but she did a good job.

  19. I have a relative who works for Google and all he does is post on FB about how awesome Google is, like they can do no wrong. I want to refer to him as a fucking mark but nobody would understand. Sometimes wrestling terms are the only kind that sum it up.
  20. If it means Sexy Star spends next season in a well instead of wrestling, that works for me. Can they license Goodbye Horses as Marty's theme music?
  21. The part where Drake is a little bit down because he busted his head open, then he calls his wife and she pumps him back up, is awesome. I'M IN PWG BABY FUCK YEEEAAAHHHH. As are Excalibur's stories of starting out in LA as a graphic artist designing covers for porn videos. Jamie Dundee just depresses me. His stories of being really young in Memphis and his dad talking him into letting the female fans hug and kiss him for money are really gross. You can tell Bill Dundee was a shitty father and person in general and that his son never really had a chance. That was a really good one. You can almost hear the exact moment where Colt realizes this is a bad idea. Now I'm reminded of this: I EAT CHILDREN
  22. Jim Ross did a show in Baltimore and he talked in length about Sabatino's. He went there while in town (along with Jimmy's Seafood, Chaps Pit Beef and Phillips. Lucky bastard) He was telling stories about him and Flair going to the second level in the 80s. Flair would do the robe with nothing underneath trick. Half the time it worked, other half ladies were repulsed. That place is right near me and I've been thinking to go. Pretty sure it's damn expensive though, but worth a one time trip. If he ever takes calls on his show I'm going to be sure to ask him about that place. I went to Sabatino's before whichever KotR PPV was in Baltimore (94 or 95), The food was decent from what I can remember. The place felt really old and dingy then, so I can't even imagine what it looks like now. I had no idea they were still around but it makes sense, as Baltimore has always been stuck in the 80s. Nick, put on some 98 Rock and drive down to lit'l It'ly, hon.
