  1. Eaten Alive/The Emerald Jungle - I'm not a horror guy and even less so of the cannibal subgenre. I first saw this movie when I was a CIT at my summer camp in Maine. Iy disgusted me then and it still disgusts me now. Why my friend was so eager to watch this the other day I will never know. You've got a woman trying to find her sister who joined a sex cult in New Guinea, a thinly veiled Jim "The Juice" Jones cult leader and the cult's camp surrounded by aboriginal cannibals. Fuck this movie. I'm just glad I didn't see it in a theater or my love affair with going to the movies would've ended in the mid 80s! James
  2. Foley had been up for wrestling Sainthood since the WCW Chamber of Horrors match, so no surprise he's responsible for being a major, if not THE major, catalyst of the Attitude Era He got so many guys over it's ridiculous! James
  3. Yellowstone is is totally batshit insane! Is this what it takes to get an airport built? Open firefighter between ranchers and hedge fund investors? Really, anything involving ranch hands is what I enjoy most on the show. Well that and Beth Dutton being a super bitch James
  4. When I first heard promos for Red One I thought they remade The Big Red One and I wondered why they remade a pretty dull WW2 movie with Lee Marvin and Mark Hammill. The I SAW the trailer and realized that maybe I should watch TBRO again to see if it got better with age. I wish to God Rock would check his ego and take a chance with his acting. I remember when Be Cool came out and people raved about his performance but I genuinely thought Cedric The Entertainer was better (I also preferred the character Rock played better in the original Elmore Leonard book). James
  5. I was hoping Jerichow was Chris Jericho's documentary about what he eats on the road James
  6. Scott Keith was a guy who would hate on guys just to hate on them. Dusty Rhodes was a preferred target of his. I would read Keith's reviews and then come here hoping DEAN~! had posted something to restore my faith in humanity James
  7. The Yin & Yang of Mister Go - I don't do drugs. This movie makes me think I should start. Why is James Mason in this? He looks like a TOS Kilgon so much that I expected Shatner to appear and monkey-flip him! I mean, there is a story in hete but the basic summation is everyone is trying to screw each other over to the point that you really have no horse to root for in this thing. I also need to find a cleaner copy of this so I can have a dinner party and make my guests watch this James
  8. Man, I see the whole story being Slyde asking Spidey for help against the Maggia. Villains include Hammerhead and Silvermane (so you have a reason for Cloak & Dagger to show up) James
  9. I just want a decent writer to give me the epic Slyde story we never got in ASM in the 80s. I can see it now "Part 1: Slyde Into 1st", "Slyde Into 2nd" etc, etc... though the last installment should be "Slyde Dimaggio! SLYDE!" James
  10. I just read the synopsis for The Yin & Yang of Mister Go and it sounds bug-fuck insane. I picture Burgess Meredith typing up the script with Rod Serling giving feedback with every page. "You know what this American deserter needs to be in order to be truly compelling? Bisexual! Say, how familiar are with the works of James Joyce?" I'm definitely watching this while young Sandra Violet is at school today! James
  11. The reassessment of Hogan can be started in the old DVDVRs, as even DEAN~! cited things he liked Hogan did on Nitro in 98. Like legit praise! If that isn't a starting point, I don't know what is! James
  12. Seriously, DEAN~! Nuked the Politics folder like 2 decades ago! Dolfan is right, keep it outta the Board! (Says me a week later) James
  13. The final shot, r Ed minding us the The Bat is out there was perfect! James
  14. De Palma doing Columbo boggles my mind. Would network TV in the 70s allow that much leg and side-boob? James
  15. When it comes to Empire Records, "Sugar High" really gets stuck in your head the same way "Scotty Doesn't Know" from Eurotrip does. If you were to ask me which movie I liked better... I'd have to take the 5th as both have their moments James
  16. Lord, a Capra-esque movie about the modern Catholic church... It's A Wonderful Pope? James
  17. Dinner Rush - I like it when I stumble across a small movie I've never heard of with a cast of solid actors. This one is led by the late, great Danny Aiello as Louis Cropa, a bookie/restauranteur who has to deal with his chef son Udo (Eduardo Ballerini) trying to make their restaurant more modern in terms of cuisine. Louis wants the restaurant to more traditional Italian fare for which he relies on the sous chef Duncan (Kirk Acevedo) to make for him. The movie revolves around the pressure everyone deals with during a dinner service as everyone else's issues and personal drama gets interwoven to it. Louis is dealing with a local mobster who wants to buy into the restaurant, Duncan's spiraling gambling debts and the rest of the staff's problems. This is a nice little movie. It's not really a drama but certainly not a comedy. It's just a real cozy kind of movie with the kind of story (or in this case stories) you expect in a movie about an Italian restaurant in Manhattan. You even get a nice appearance of Sandra Bernhard as a celebrity food critic. There is nothing negative I want to say about this movie. It's on Prime for free and I think it's worth a watch for all here and especially if you have a soft spot for Danny Aiello. James
  18. His early Memphis he was a tremendous babyface. The Lawler/Jarrett v. Moonfogs feud was good stuff and it rested on Jeff being a sympathetic babyface. Why Vince saw Jeff and thought he'd be a strutting country music heel I will never understand James
  19. A View To A Kill isone of the upper echelon Bond songs. Probably my number three after Goldfinger and Nobody Does It Better. I think For Your Eyes Only doesn't get enough love James
  20. Kennedy was a ring entrance. Watching him actually wrestle was a reason to watch something hosted by Peter Graves! James
  21. Music by John Williams - My daughter wore an inflatable Dinosaur Rider costume for Halloween and she went Truck or Trwaring with her Aunt Nic. It was adorable but made me think about the music from Jurassic Park. Then I remembered that this documentary was drolping. So last night/this morning at 1AM I turned this on. I've talked before about how music cues in movies make me cry. This look at John Williamd and his process to making music for film is one music cue after another that just brings out nothing but emotion from me. I lost count how many times I teared up, especially for Jurassic Park, which I feel to this day is his most underappreciated piece. It is so majestic and gets across the beauty of the dinosaurs in the movie. It literally brings me to tears everytime I hear it. I love the music of John Williams so much and this documentary makes me live him even more. James [I swear I was writing this in the 2024 Movie thread. No idea why it popped up here]
  22. Not at all! I mean we are basically dating that Calliway basically made Undertaker a Lich! James
  23. I love that someone on this board used the word "phylactry" and no one blinks! 20+ years and this my favorite place on the internet! James
  24. I tried watching The Gentleman and Guy Ritchie is just such a frustrating filmmaker because he's made some good highly entertaining movies but most of his stuff has me not caring just past middle of the runtime. This movie falls into the latter category. There lots gangs of characters but not a lot of them make ne care. Honestly, Colin Farrell as Coach is the most engaging of them but he's not a major player. I mean drug dealer looking to get out of the game is nothing new and as far as British crime goes Layer Cake did it better and was actually funnier. I guess I just wanted to like this movie more in the grand scheme of things. James
  25. Teri Garr hits hard. She was funny and had a certain "girl next door" quality that made her a joy to watch. This socks James
