  1. This shit kind of reminds me of those stories you hear about Dean Harmon when he was the show runner for “Community.” Nobody cared that he was a weird sex pest when he alienated Chevy Chase, because Fletch 1.0 was a boorish asshole. But eventually the juice stopped being worth the squeeze with him. I wonder at what point the same becomes true for Noble Phillingham. (Yes, that’s a Walker Texas Ranger shout in 2023)
  2. This. I was just a lurker back then and I feel like I've never gotten the full DVDVR experience...
  3. @Jrag that’s why I get so conflicted about Punk. I personally find the Collision show superior. If the BCC guys, Hanger, and Sting were on Collision I wouldn’t have to watch Dynamite anymore. I like Punk’s apparent philosophies on how wrestling should be presented. I just find pretentiousness to be one of the worst qualities a person can have. That’s probably also why I despise the Jacksons and adam Cole. They come off super pretentious to me. Anyway, Collision is the shit. If Philson is responsible for that, then more power to him.
  4. Sounds like Britt Baker & Jack Perry went out of their way to avoid Philbob Squarebrooks.
  5. I just always assume everything bad in AEW is the Jacksons’ fault. (Again being facetious, just in case my Little Friend couldn’t tell.) And I call Punk “Phil” for the same reason I say/do lots of things; it pops me.
  6. Rumors are that Phil was a big advocate for Santana and Ortiz when he first got to AEW. Ortiz is posting fond memories of P&P and they’re listed as a tag team again on aew’s roster page. If he got those two back together, and gets them a nice shove, I’ll forget all about what an insecure egomaniac he is. It’s always bothered me how victimized S&O were by that super elite reign of error bullshit…
  7. Apparently Christopher Daniels and Matt Hardy have also been sent home from Collision in the last couple weeks. Two more folks with strong ties to the Elite. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence, though…
  8. Sure. I just need your full name, email, social security, where you went to grade school, and your first pet's name. To make sure you get all your shit in a timely fashion. Maybe I should be less cynical. It's entirely possible. I am bad about that. But how long do I have to observe a feathered bird swim and quack before I can just call it a duck? Are there not enough first and second hand accounts from people who have been around him extensively of Phil being an insecure narcissist to deduce that he is, in fact, an insecure narcissist? Fwiw, I think he's booking a hell of a wrestling show on Saturdays. Collision is dope and I think he's a big part of that. I think his mind for the business is almost unparalleled. I'd rather watch a show booked by him than a show booked by the Jacksons and Kenny, for example. He clearly sees Ricky Starks as a huge star, which makes him smart. Maybe it's just a coincidence that just a few weeks after Ryan Nemeth tweeted about Phil being the "Softest man alive" during his return promo on Collision, he was sent home from a scheduled taping. Maybe it's a coincidence that Adam Page was told not to come to the building where Collision was being taped and then an hour or so later Phil cuts an (allegedly) unplanned promo about Page not being a star. All I'm saying is that since the mid aughts there have been multiple, corroborated reports of Punk proclaiming himself "the locker room leader," bullying fellow performers, writers, and producers, having performers banned from buildings, and publicly airing grievances with co-workers in a manner that left his employer vulnerable to legal action. How much more do some of y'all need to see before you're able to draw the conclusion that for his many strengths as a performer, he's an insecure, pretentious, overcompensating narcissist fueled almost wholly by an inferiority complex? Collision rules ass, though. It's a fantastic two hour wrestling show laden with top tier talent being given the chance to shine.
  9. Why would it be a stretch to assume phil would do something completely in character for Phil to do?
  10. Softer than baby shit. Phil just cannot help himself. conspiracy theory #2 time> Phillip was willing to bite his tongue for a few months while the Elite’s contracts ran out. Now that they’re staying, all bets are off. Also, Hot Young Briley would beat Phil’s ass. Also also, pretty in line with what we know about Philliam to wear a SAG Aftra t shirt and then turn around and have the one guy in AEW who’s actually walking a picket line banned from the building.
  11. HOB is perfect. 10/10 no notes. I see my Little Friend is still being passive aggressive about Ricky Starks. It’s clear whoever’s booking Collision sees him the same way I do. I’m interested to see what they do with this “managers license” thing. insert conspiracy theory here> Ricky Starks is being held off of All In so he doesn’t show up TK’s “anointed” ones in the main event. (Again, I’m being facetious, but it’s become apparent that I have to make that abundantly clear so my Little Friend doesn’t season his Adam Cole undies.) Hobbs vs. Miro? Insert Big E gif here. It’s amazing how much fresher Collision feels than Dynamite. Probably because there’s no Jackson’s on Collision. Although I did thoroughly enjoy that trios match on Wednesday. Also, in an update; we did go ahead and have my kid’s bday at the bouncy house. We already paid a deposit, and, why should we change when Cole is the one that sucks? I did get to go full MJF in the dodgeball arena. The only goodie bags those kids took home were welts with those familiar ball pattern imprints on them. Most of Will’s neighborhood friends are several years older than him, so it wasn’t like I was out there blasting murder missiles at toddlers. As a former camp counselor, I’ve made my peace with “never let them win.”
  12. It's a compelling story. Like a good movie starring actors I don't like. I'll probably watch but I'll be rolling my eyes the whole time. Maybe they'll surprise me.
  13. You should’ve known TK didn’t think the show was special when he put adam Cole in the main event…
  14. @Zakk_Sabbathi hope that that last post was silly enough for y’all to know that I was being a little facetious. Bouncy parks rule. Cole being a fan is like the first thing about him that I relate to…
  15. I’ll have my review later. Right now I’m scrambling to relocate my kids 3rd birthday party. It’s supposed to be at the bouncy park, but I don’t want him doing anything adam Cole does. He’ll turn out so lame he gets his preschool Christmas pageant bumped off it’s scheduled night…
  16. Some of my favorite wrestling TV of the last 15 years was that WWECW island of misfit toys format after it was clear Vince didn't give a shit anymore. A mixture of rookies and veterans that there weren't any plans for. AEW's developmental, whatever you want to call it, ROH or otherwise, should feel like that. Having Sheamus work short series' of TV matches against guys like Finlay and Goldust did him a world of good early in his career. Swagger got better working with Christian. Shit, a lot of people got better working with Christian. Regal and Shelty B, too. Zack Ryder has never been better in ring than when he was learning and growing matching up against Regal and Tommy Dreamer. Format a show with that distinct purpose. Give them their own titles if it means guys won't be as upset being allocated there. Imagine how quick young guys would improve working tag matches against 2.0 and Butcher and Blade. Shit, use Hager as the centerpiece for a bit. A guy like Action Andretti or Nick Wayne overcoming Hager to become developmental champ would be fun, and a good way to spread your veterans out a bit.
  17. I like it. Callis does what not even MJF could do and manages to completely isolate Jericho from anyone who’d have his back…
  18. One thing I learned this weekend is that there is a segment of wwe fans who can talk themselves into thinking anything is “cinema.” Not here, but in other circles. I checked out SS on a whim, and that’s 4 hrs I can’t have back. Do people really get this into the Bloodline stuff, some two years after it started? Also, you got a lot of dudes in this Slim Jim battle Royal who look exactly the same. I don’t watch regularly, but I couldn’t tell McDonagh from Grimes or Theory from Waller. Ridge Holland is as generic as it gets. Karrion Kross is just a guy now. Is AJ Styles really this big an afterthought at this point? Dude could’ve been All Elite and instead he’s midcard surfing with Nakamura and Otis. LA Knight winning was the right call, but I’ve seen enough fan anointed acts in wwe to know that hes about to be shat upon from great heights. No real thoughts on the rest of the show, other than I think you’re lying to yourself if you still believe wwe’s women are booked better than aew’s.
  19. You're probably not wrong. I just hate that old wrestling mindset of "just being in the ring with Edge/Undertaker/HHH/HBK/Orton/Cena elevates Bray/Wade Barrett/Ziggler/Rusev/Bryan." They have a bonafide star with Ricky. I'd love to see them take that last step with him.
  20. Wrong person went over. Gotta pull the trigger on Starks at some point.
