  1. I had done something to get grounded the week of that show. Of course, since wrestling was by far my favorite thing at that point, my punishment was no wrestling for a week. Buuuuuut, my parents neglected to inform the babysitter I had on the day of the Clash of my punishment. So, I got to enjoy the show in all it's glory. I thought Sting was the coolest, but didn't hold out much hope that he'd win the title. As the match went on, I kept thinking he may actually do it. I don't think I'd ever seen a match that long at that point in my wresting fandom, so it really stood out to me. If I recall, that was also the same day as WMIV. I would occasionally switch over to scramble-vision and check in on what was happening there.
  2. Starks is weird. He's just so inconsistent. I've seen stuff out of him where I'm fully on-board. Fuck yeah! This guy is the future! Then, there are times where I wonder if he'd rather be somewhere else.
  3. Not to speak for @hammerva, but in my opinion, Sting should get to go out on a high note. I don't think he should lose to any heels in his last match. If it was a case of the Bucks still being faces and doing sort of an HBK/Flair thing where they want to be in his last match because they respect/love him so much, then I'd be ok with them winning. It could be a passing of the torch thing, and that would be nice. But now, it'd be some dastardly heels beating down Sting, his sons and Darby, and then taking the belts to send him into retirement on a downer note.
  4. We went to see the last Minions movie at the drive-in (I think it was a double feature with Thor 4). My daughter and I decided to get snacks about 15 minutes in. The line was so long, we missed like the next 45 minutes of the movie. Later, my son had it on at home and we agreed that standing in line for snacks was definitely preferable to actually watching that movie.
  5. I think if Jericho wants to keep going, more power to him. I just wish he’d realize his limitations. When he did the more grounded, hard-hitting stuff with Kingston and Danielson it worked. He just needs to accept that there are certain things his body won’t allow him to do anymore. Why attempt some complicated top-rope reversal or whatever if there’s zero chance it’ll look right and there’s a high chance you injure yourself or your opponent?
  6. I bet the trophy budget for Japanese promotions in the 70's/80's/90's was insane.
  7. Superbad is really very wholesome.
  8. If you haven't watched Baskets, you should. Easily one of my favorite series from the last decade or so.
  9. Not saying Missy is this way, but I once heard a female executive at an old job bemoan that younger females complained about sexual harassment. “Oh, it’s nothing. You should have seen what I went through.” Some see it as just part of the business, something you just have to deal with.
  10. That We Are the World doc is a blast. Didn’t expect to laugh that much. Lionel Richie telling stories about writing at Michael Jackson’s house was the best.
  11. I don't have X. What was that tweet in response to?
  12. “Why are these attractive young women trying to date these attractive young men and not the gross old men that came up with this contest!!?!?!” - Johnny and Vince, probably
  13. Have we not touched on how stupid the overly-choreographed “stare for a bit, then take one step forward” shit was? Someone backstage thought it was so dramatic, didn’t they?
  14. The movie is a good idea that doesn’t quite deliver. Batista is really good though. He sort of plays against type and really nails it.
  15. I don’t think you will get a lot of those chants. Like others have said, I think the “hijacking” fans are gone. Ok, purely anecdotal, but my son’s your prototypical young WWE fan. He wanted Cody and John Cena as his top figures for Christmas. We catch him playing Cody’s theme on Alexa all the time. He’s watching Smackdown last night and I walk in right as Cody gets to the ring. I say, “Oh, is he going to officially challenge Roman?” Son says, “Yeah dad. He has to complete the story!” Then, when it switches to Rock/Roman he jumps up and is all excited for that match.
  16. Batista is really great in A Knock at the Cabin Door. Really, he’s great in everything he’s done, even if the movie isn’t.
  17. Don’t get me wrong. Rock/Roman is absolutely the match they should be doing while they can still do it. It’s just that, if you knew that was the match, why even do this stuff with Cody?
  18. So, in the promotion where he had the pull, Cody books himself to not be allowed to challenge for the main title. Now, he gets shuffled aside so an up-and-coming youngster can take his spot. Dude’s never going to get to be on top.
  19. The Bucks' new character means they can just say they're cutting the line since they're EVPs. Anyone who's got a problem with it gets fined.
  20. Swift's travel people need to get Hulk Hogan on as a consultant.
  21. Here in Louisville, we just got our first Publix. It's very close to my house. Had my first Pub Sub on Monday (the buffalo chicken). Gotta say, it was fine. I'm going to give them a break since the store is new and it's been VERY busy, so maybe quality isn't quite there yet. My kids love the pizza, though. I just love having a grocery store closer to the house and directly on my way home from work.
  22. Wasn't there a Raw in the Stone Cold era where the whole show, it was this race to see if he'd make it to the arena before the end of the show? Am I making that up? Anyway, they need cameras on Swift leaving Japan to see if she can make it to Vegas before the end of the game.
  23. I could see WWE offering less money since they really need him less. But, yeah, Dave sounds like a very-online mid-90's teen wrestling fan.
  24. I thought the show was good, not great, but never dragged or anything. Was pleasantly surprised by Mox/Hardy, Hangman/Toa and Swerve/RVD. Wasn't really excited for any of them, but enjoyed them all. I mentioned this over in the Football folder, but in his post-game interview, San Francisco 49er Brandon Aiyuk dropped a "Bang Bang Niners Gang!"
  25. If Hangman did/does choose RVD, I don't really get it in a kayfabe sense. I figure if you're choosing your hated rival's opponent, you'd want someone super scary or badass. I know RVD is presented as a legend and all that, but he'd be way down on the list of guys I'd pick to mess up someone I hated. Why not Mox or Lance Archer or Big Bill or something? If they really want to present Hangman as a badass, have him choose himself with the thinking that he would love to get his hands on Swerve even if he has to pull double duty in one night.
