I hope Colorado fans enjoy 10:00am football, because after the TCU game drew over 7 million viewers this past weekend, FOX is probably about to rename Big Noon Saturday to Primetime Saturday.

Chad Gable is, improbably, a 20 year veteran and has NEVER held a singles title. Anywhere. After this Gunther series, that must be changed. Immediately.

I’m really interested to see where they go with Mox as International champ. OC’s reign really underscored how important it is for a midcard belt without a specific gimmick (like a particular weight class or special rules) to have a unifying concept behind it. I mean, we’re never gonna get better than “slacker agrees to anything, accidentally becomes the best wrestler in the world” as a concept, but I think we definitely gotta do better than “guy defends belt a bunch” here. And AEW actually does have a pretty solid history with title concepts, whether it was Cody’s legit open challenge run (as @Log mentioned), Darby’s suicide run first reign, Christian as the fake champ, etc. Hell, I even liked the hoss fight TNT concept from this past spring (but I know I’m in a he minority on that). But there’s also a lot of “guy defends belt” reigns, too, like early Sammy, early Wardlow, I think even Stat kinda has “gal defends belt” going on right now. And I don’t think any of those have actually helped the belts or the wrestlers. So hopefully they’ve got something good for Mox.

Dabo is teetering on the brink of becoming Les Miles. Miles was a great coach in his time but stubbornly refused to change and the game eventually passed him by. You see that same thing in Dabo with his insistence on not changing the offense, not playing the transfer portal, not embracing NIL, etc.

I’m just glad to see that Harbaugh has his freedom again.

And really getting whomped now, too. They have not punted nor scored a point in the 2nd half. An incredible accomplishment.

Miro/Hobbs was super fun once they started playing into the MEAT chants but didn’t quite achieve transcendence like the Acclaimed, Swerve, and Keith did last year.

I was on the fence about ordering this and caved at the absolute last minute, and I couldn’t have made a better choice. Fantastic show. Dragon/Starks and OC/Mox were stone cold classics.

Tulane really handed it to South AL (well, really it was vice-versa, thanks to USA’s 5 TO’s). Green Wave very much alive and the G5 playoff front runner. Perhaps the *only* runner with Boise, South AL, and UTSA going down. In other G5 news: Army’s first outing with its new look offense was a disaster, losing to Louisiana-Monroe, 17-13. Texas State shocked Baylor with its own new look offense, 42-31. (Dave Aranda’s seat getting warm?) Northern Illinois clipped Boston College. (Hafley’s seat RED HOT.) Fresno took down Purdue. And Toledo *almost* stole a win from Illinois. EDIT: oh and Wyoming literally just stunned Texas Tech in 2OT. UCLA is letting Coastal Carolina hang around, too…
