  1. What is the card for the LA Lucha legend show?
  2. Charles Lucero v. Rey Hechihro 8/4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKtwqoYT6pc I really liked this although it felt like a bit of a preview to the title match this week. Loved the early mat wrestling and Lucero's cheap shot punch was awesome. I think it could have used a more dramatic ending, but this was a real treat to watch these guys get time to do their thing
  3. Probably my single favorite band. John Darnielle grew up a LA wrestling fan and has several wrestling themed songs. He debuted a new one at the Newport Folk Festival called Animal Mask starting at 3:52 of this video
  4. Man two weeks in a row with no Rush? That is some bs. Going to check out Hechihiro v Lucero tonight for sure
  5. No really just FSW repeats the same cycle over and over. He picks a fight at me, makes odd and untrue statements then some who knows me eventually seems them here and then makes fun of FSW to the point of his embarrassment and then he stops. After the last time it happened I thought he finally learnt from all his follies. But no. I touched a nerve and again you are the last person to issue a post count diss. Never really white knighted Melty. I just poked holes in goofballs and their goofball opinions. There's plenty to be critical of Dave of, I do it all the time fam. As per usual you are completely off the mark when it comes to me. I'll now heed Phil's warning. Now back to this tremendous dinner talk. When I say cut it out, I mean cut it out, not take a last shot and cut it out. Take the weekend off.
  6. I must have but I didn't remember him. I bought a ton of Monterey tapes from you over the years but I mainly remember on paper awesome matches being ruined by constant ref horseshit. What lucero do I need to seek out?
  7. Hijo Del Centurion Negro, Rey Hechicero, Símbolo vs Black Spirit, Charles Lucero, Golden Boy (Monterrey 7/21) I really liked the first fall and am very excited about the singles match between Lucero and Hechichiro. I agree that Lucero was a revelation, although the other four guys in this match were definitely a little more hit and miss. Not at the level of a high end Terry or Navarro trios, but right up there with a fun mid level match with those guys. I do love discovering awesome guys I have never heard of before, and it does feel like we need to find more Lucero
  8. Dinamic Black vs Oficial 911 7/28 IWRG http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ebd33rNQqU I liked parts of this a lot, 911 has great execution on his stuff and Black's dives looked good. Thought this got very PWGish at the end as they just traded 2.9 finishers for 10 minutes. Finish was also completely missed by the shitty AYM camera men. Other folks will like this more then me, as this was very 2013 style which isn't my thing
  9. I finished my book when the board was down, so I have to put some quick thoughts together
  10. I think the 7/14 Rush v. Casas trios was the winner of lucha Tuesday by quite a bit, with the addendum that I didn't watch every second of it. Anyone else got thoughts on the winner?
  11. Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa, Tritón vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus 7/28 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMnoyGS8LRc Pretty fun match with a large dollop of Virus v. Maya which is a great match up. The rest of the rudos and technicos were perfectly solid and we get enough of the key guys to make this well worth watching
  12. I have seen a lot of live wrestling over the years (although nothing in the last couple). Best is a tie with El Hijo Del Santo v. La Parka from Atlanta which was an awesome blood soaked brawl, and the 30 minute iron man with Shinya Hashimoto v. Dylan Knight v. Steve Corino v. Gary Steele. I caught Hashimoto's bandanna and it was so great to see him in a 30 minute war in front of 80 people. I have seen a lot of bad matches over the years too, I seem to remember Sheik v. Fat Frank at a JAPW show being pretty bad and kind of racist.
  13. Black Terry, Pasion Kristal, Veneno vs Bugambilia, Fuerza Guerrera, Oficial AK47 IWRG 7/28 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4qvaZ_RoJw There are some talented dudes in this, but this wasn't much at all. Mostly Veneno doing Baba chops. This is a lumberjack strap match which you would at least hope would be violent, but the straps don't even look nasty. Terry and Fuerza have a minute or two of solid brawling, but you can let this go.
  14. Glad you dug it, it is really awesome stuff I am not even much of a Sci-Fi guy, but this reminded me more of Infinite Jest then a normal Sci-Fi novel. He has a second book Angelmaker which is also really great and you should check out if you liked Gone Away World
  15. Infierno Del Ring CMLL Infierno en el Ring 2013: Mr. Aguila vs Shocker vs Rush vs Negro Casas vs Blue Panther vs Rey Bucanero vs Maximo vs super Porky vs Averno vs Rey EscorpionI enjoyed most of this outside of Aguila stumbling around like a drunk shit. Rush v. Casas was great as usual, and I loved the dickishness of Rush leaving first although the match really suffered without him. I liked the Porky and Maximo family hour too, man Aguila really shit the bed though. This looks like our only Rush or Casas this weeks which is a bummer.
  16. Yeah this was well worth watching pretty much all for Rush. He is getting into Terry Funk territory where his shtick is so entertaining that It literally doesn't matter who he is in with. Loved him chucking around midgets, and going at Niebla. Their slap exchange with Niebla spitting in his face, and Rush cracking him with the superkick was great. Hadn't seen Thunder before, he had a nice lariat, who is that dude?
  17. Fake Rey Mysterio/Fake Sin Cara v. Fake Umaga/Fake Sin Cara Negro Monterey 7/21 I wanted this to be better, it had some moments, but I wanted to be a weird lucha spectacle and it was more of a mediocre green lucha undercard match
  18. Black Metal (Guadalajara), Pegasso, Tritón vs Bárbaro Cavernario, Espíritu Maligno, Skándalo - CMLL Puebla 6/24 This was really fun, man what a great rudo trio, I am a big fan of Maligno and Babaro and I like that they are getting to work on a bigger stage the opening fall exchanges were really slick and the finish was nice and crazy
  19. Rey Escorpion/Negro Casas/Averno v. Blue Panther/Super Porky/Rush 7/12Not as great as your other Rush v. Casas trios this month, but it is a Rush v. Casas trio. Really fun to see Porky show up and throw blows in a proper brawl. Thought Averno dragged things down a bit, and it was a bit short, but the Casas v. Rush sections are as violent as you would hope. Negro Casas, Mr. Aguila & Rey Bucanero vs. Blue Panther, Rush & Maximo- 7/14 Totally awesome stuff and I am loving that we are getting weekly versions of this. Really liked Aguila in this, as he was timing all of these awesome out of nowhere dropkicks. Maximo has really come into his own too, and of course Rush v. Casas is the best thing going by far. No IWRG this week, so I am not sure what else I am going to check out, so looking for suggestions
  20. Here is a thread to discuss all of the lucha dropped on us every Tuesday by the invaluable and amazing Cubsfan. Here is the DL link from his blog http://www.thecubsfan.com/cmll/?p=28146 Here is the Youtube playlist http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2I0JwI23A_Wj-l8jsx42_wkK5aVaLzDw
  21. http://www.details.com/culture-trends/critical-eye/201305/gay-mexican-pro-wrestlers
  22. Wagner v. Park is as blood soaked an hideously violent as you are dreaming it will be.
