  1. Sooooo these rumors about Prince Puma in season 3.... And why is everyone not freaking out over Matanza and Mil Muertes? I couldn't believe they teased that just a couple of weeks after Matanza debuted. My daughter already hates Matanza for how badly he crushed Pentagon and Fenix, for the first time ever she was cheering for Mil Muertes. I can imagine those two putting on a hell of a match, but I hope they let it stew for a good long while before giving it to us.
  2. I was really hoping the Disciples of Death were finished already, they are lousy and have no credibility. I'd really like Mil Muertes to finish the job and just crush them all into bad CGI sparks. Sexy Star is still awful. Getting squashed like that is what she can do best. The Mack is an awful actor. Like, "Joe Blow in Dolemite" bad. Is that part of his gimmick? It would kind make sense I guess. Did the crowd seem strangely subdued during the Pentagon entrance and match? I'd come to expect more enthusiasm for his bouts. Maybe it was the ominous expectation that Matanza was going to indeed squish him like a bug. Still, as OSJ noted above, losing to Matanza is about a zillion times better than losing to Sexy Star, who was a joke and not a credible contender to anything. Matanza has crushed everything in his path so far, all this establishes is that Pentagon is human.
  3. Update to the topic! I decided to get another streaming video box in addition to the one I mention above and went with an Amazon FireTV box ("as recommended by Gonzo") when it went on sale for $85, figuring that it's combination of solid hardware and integrated access to the Amazon Prime video library would make it a nice option for a mere $35 above what I paid for a generic Android streaming box. Having used the box for a month now I have to say I am very favorably impressed. There are a few annoyances that are entirely related to Amazon's obvious desire to create a closed "walled garden" for their own content and manipulation - you can't access Google's PlayStore for apps, so if it isn't on the Amazon store you're forced to sideload your apps which isn't particularly difficult but it isn't the one-click breeze it would be otherwise. Amazon apparently just started adding banner ads at the top of the screen when you browse the "apps" and "games" sections of their bootup homepage. And you can only use an external drive for video content if it's formatted in FAT32, which limits you to 4GB file sizes (so my big Blu-Ray rips have to be broken into chunks if I want to enjoy them in all their high-bitrate glory). But if you can live with that...well it's a pretty sweet piece of gear. The Amazon front-end is nicely arranged and the speech-to-search function works extremely well, so much so that I've never used my remote keyboard with it. You can press a button and say, "Documentaries about wrestling" and you will indeed get a list of documentaries on wrestling. The menus are quick and responsive and the streaming works extremely well - shows start playing almost immediately, and the video quality ramps up over the course of the first 10 seconds or so to stabilize at your best sustainable video quality. Streaming 1080p over a wireless connection has been a breeze. If you want to explore beyond the Amazon functionality, that's where you see what a true cord-cuttting monster this box can be. Sideload Kodi, install a few channels, and you have a universe of content available unlike anything I'd ever seen before. I love documentaries so of course there are huge archives dedicated solely to that programming, but I've been surprised at how seductive other niche programming can be. I watched livestreams of fashion shows from Milan, the Israeli adaptation of "The Golden Girls", massive libraries of animation stretching back to the 1920s, and 24/7 channels that do nothing but stream random episodes of popular TV shows from any era - I Love Lucy, Columbo, Sanford and Son, Benny Hill, you name it. All these features are supplemented by official streaming applications from many popular cable channels like HGTV, DIY, Food Network, Bravo, Travel Channel, and AMC, and even show-specific official applications like South Park. And of course the content you have access to isn't typically geo-locked, so if you like to waste some time watching newscasts from Indonesia or Bollywood musicals or Canadian hockey updates it's all there for you once you figure out where to find it. Liked it so much I bought one for my father-in-law for his birthday. Between the nature shows and the official Fox News channel I think it'll be a hit.
  4. They've announced Sexy Star vs Mariposa for tomorrow's broadcast. Too soon all around - too soon to have them both in a formal match, and too soon to have Sexy Star stink up the ring again.
  5. One of the things I enjoyed about the booking last night is they neatly devised a perfectly acceptable way to keep their two most popular wrestlers, Mil Muertes and Pentagon Jr, well away from any Matanza-related conflicts for the near future while still being involved in what should be a very exciting series. I don't know who they're planning on feeding to Matanza initially but saving those two for the 4th season seems like a sound decision.
  6. Meanwhile they never avow their Great Emancipator, Mr. Lincoln, and what he said about the Negro during the Lincoln/Douglas debates. Tear down the Confederate flag everywhere but plaster your Mr. Lincoln on everything you can find. Shameful.
  7. Does Mascarita get any screen time this season?
  8. I'm not saying a smaller guy can't be booked as a monster, just that every nod towards Mantanza in the past has portrayed him as huge. I mentioned here that I was worried they were booking themselves into a corner, because there can't be very many giant guys on the indy circuit who could work a credible match in that promotion. I wonder who the shortest guys in LU are now.
  9. Oh the reveal was amazing, he really looked like the monster they'd been building up for a year. I just wonder how it will look when they get to the temple and you realize Dario is taller than the head-crushing monster is.
  10. Yeah I was worried they had painting themselves into a corner with how he had been portrayed previously - remember when The Crew went in to his chamber and they all craned their necks up to look at the as-yet-unseen Matanza. There just weren't many options for a monster wrestler who could combine the physical presence needed for the role while still being unknown enough to the general audience to make the character compelling without distraction (so Great Khali always seemed like a non-starter to me). Oh yeah, don't go to Cobb's Wikipedia page looking for his background unless you want SPOILERS UP YOUR BUM. And not the good kind of Spoilers that use the Bionic Claw either.
  11. He's Dana the Douchebag. Fighters are his property, they till the field he assigns them to, subject to his whims.
  12. Mariposa was disturbing as heck. Me likey.
  13. He beat Superstar Billy Graham for the Florida title! Little putz.
  14. I loved Dredd. I had no expectations for that movie and couldn't take my eyes away from it once it started. I haven't been so disappointed by the lack of a sequel for a film since Master and Commander.
  15. Rumor is PN News sold him a hot dose. Talk about playing the long game.
  16. Two words of dialogue and she botched one. Amazing. Finally some backstory on Dario Cueto! Black magic and human sacrifice? Aww yiss.
