  1. Cody Rhodes has a bet with Dave Meltzer that ROH can sell out a 10,000 seat venue. I don't see that happening unless they can convince Daniel Bryan and/or CM Punk to come back. That got me thinking. If you were ROH, where would you hold an event if you wanted to fill an arena? Hypothetically speaking, this event had mainstream appeal, like the return of Daniel Bryan. Where is the big wrestling hotbed right now? Bigger cities don't always translate to ticket sales. I recently came back from a European vacation and was able to attend the ROH/New Japan show in Liverpool. There are over 2 million people in the Liverpool metro area and they couldn't even fill an 800 seat venue.
  2. I popped when Benjamin Cook called Sexy Star the worst champion in the history of wrestling. Other than that, none of the matches lived up to the expectation. The mask vs mask match was pointless. Veneno gets attacked by Joey Ryan in full view of the ref and somehow loses by count out. Puma/Pentagon Dark wasn't as good as I had hoped. It was really good, but it seemed too short. What was the point of the trophy presentation? Hated the finish of the Mundo/Rey match like everyone else.
  3. At the close of the ROH Liverpool show last night, Cody asked who was left after he pinned Sanada. Dalton Castle answered the challenge, so he's at least next in line. Whether or not they put the strap on him is another thing.
  4. I attended the ROH War of the Worlds Liverpool show tonight. I had no idea Liverpool was such a dump. Kinda reminded me of Cleveland. The show was good, but not great. I got to see Ultimo Guerrero and Rey Bucanero live, so that was cool. Best match was probably Mark Haskins vs Silas Young. Silas is such a good heel. Everybody hated him.
  5. James Ellsworth attended WWE referee Darrick Moore's wedding yesterday. Check out his tweet. Brilliant.
  6. Dante Fox is nuts for agreeing to this spot.
  7. This stuff with Marty, Fenix, Mariposa, and Melissa is going to lead to Melissa getting into the ring, isn't it? I've heard she's trained, but I've never seen her work.
  8. According to her Twitter feed, Taya and Johnny Mundo are engaged.
  9. The never-ending clotheslines are part of Rocky's schtick. Nothing in the match offended me. I liked it. It was your typical NJPW Jr tag match.
  10. Boy, that escalated quickly. I mean, that really got out of hand fast. Cage killed a guy. (He didn't even need a trident)
  11. The Bullet Club vs RPG Vice/Chuck Taylor match was loads of fun. Have Rocky, Trent, and Chuck ever worked together on a PWG card? They could go a lot of different directions with this jealousy angle.
  12. I love Dario Cueto. He was so smug promising something that would revolutionize the business. Then he announces a single elimination tournament. Doesn't matter if it has been done a thousand times before. It's for his Cueto Cup and he couldn't have been prouder.
  13. We may be thinking of two different things, but the way WCW explained a Sir (William) being a servant to a Lord (Steven) was that William lost a bet. ROH tried something similar when Silas Young won the services of The Boys from Dalton Castle. They did a couple vignettes with Silas trying to make The Boys do manly things like change a car tire. ROH has zero production value, so it wasn't as nearly good as it should have been.
  14. I'm just about caught up on Season 3, just in time for Wednesday's second half premiere. I certainly hope things pick up. For those in the know, is this it for LU? I haven't heard any talk of a fourth season. I recall there were some workers (Puma and Cobb) upset about Season 3's hiatus, which delayed them being released from their contract.
  15. I'm finally caught up on this season. I'm surprised nobody mentioned Gus' reaction to Don Hector invading his turf. Hector terrorized the employees, frightened the customers, and threatened Gus if he chose not to work for him. Was Gus frightened? Nope. Dude, was taking jump shots with crumpled up food wrappers. BCS makes me dislike Walter White even more now that we are exposed to the lengths Mike has gone to support his granddaughter and daughter in law.
  16. Curse whomever in the monthly thread said that Jinder looks like a muscular Luis Guzman, because that's all I thought of whenever Jinder was on screen
  17. ROH announced a War of the Worlds UK Tour featuring talent from Rev Pro, New Japan, CMLL, and ROH. The dates are August 17th in London (Rev Pro Summer Sizzler 2017), August 18 in London, August 19 in Liverpool, and August 20 in Edinburgh. Turns out that I will be on vacation and in the Liverpool area on August 19th. I planned on going to Blackpool Pleasure Beach that day, but may attend the show in Liverpool if the card is stacked.
  18. I attended lots of Minnesota and Wisconsin Indy shows in the late 90's/early 2000's. Eddie was a referee on most of them. The ring announcer always had to refer to him as "The Trainer of Champions." I'm pretty sure he trained a lot of the 1990-era AWA and WWF job guys like Derrick Dukes, Dan Jesser, Randy Gust, and Jamie "The Hater" Magnum. Outside of the ones you mentioned, he also trained Erick Rowan, Lenny Lane, ODB, Bam Neely, and Lacey (As in Jimmy Loves Lacey from ROH).
  19. I think Randy and Rip are tight. I'm guessing Rip trained Randy at OVW. Rip was on Austin's podcast a few months back and they mentioned Rip's GoFundMe for a replacement vehicle since his broke down. The top contributor at the time was Randy Orton https://www.gofundme.com/rip-rogers-raw-deal
  20. Amateurs. How are you supposed to kick out at 2 7/8ths after taking that move when you are on the outside of the ring?
  21. What's Jeff Cobb's ceiling? Would the WWE be interested once he is free from his Lucha Underground contract? I don't know if he'd be a fit for the main roster, but he's perfect for NXT. He would also be great in NJPW.
  22. Then they brought in Jay White. ROH realized that three Jay's is the limit, so they changed J Diesel's name to Joey "Diesel" Daddiego.
  23. I always thought Mike Enos could have moved to Japan and had a 10-year run as a top gaijin ala Doc or Gordy.
