  1. I don't see it being Nigel because, yeah, he's retired due to injuries (and kinda bitter, if his documentary gives an accurate impression). If they've even hinted he'd be the mystery partner, I missed it. I'm guessing Hero. That seems like the only feasible "mystery partner" out there that could conceivably satisfy the audience. Which means it will probably be someone completely underwhelming like.... Sean Denny? Bio-Hazard? Matt Turner?
  2. Just think how much Sin Cara would sell if he stayed healthy long enough to, y'know, get on TV or win a PPV match. I'd prefer to see Samurai Del Sol get called up to the main roster with a new gimmick, but I can see why they'd want to keep the character viable and just put someone else under the mask. They really need to start putting people under the mask who obviously aren't luchadores. Sin Poppa Pump would be a license to print money (and his promos in unintelliglble spanglish would be glorious).
  3. The last three movies Howard appeared in all grossed over 60 (In one case, 100) million dollars, I'd say he's still considered a pretty big star. But is he a draw? Er..... I mean, how are his punches?
  4. "Unprofessionalism and unreliability". Ouch. I have the feeling Savio Vega is about to get one last US payday.
  5. It was a combination of money and the drug test. Tully was negotiating with WCW to come back with Arn, but WCW broke off negotiations when they got wind of the failed drug test. Supposedly, they came back to him a few months later and lowballed the offer (offering half the amount they initially offered) and Tully balked. Ironically, Tully has claimed that he "intentionally" failed the test to get out of his WWF contract early,
  6. John Cena = Metallica is one of the least likely comparison's I've ever heard. As public personas go, Cena's closer to Barney the Dinosaur than a metal band.
  7. My roommate suffered from severe DGA, and was a great source for KOTH inspired jokes for years.I recently binge watched the first few Dracula on NBC episodes. Anyone else give it a try? What'd you think of Dracula? I watched the pilot and thought it was very good. Have the rest of the eps on the DVR, so I'm hoping to get into them this week.
  8. Damn it. I guess Johns leaving Aquaman never got mentioned on this board - or if it did, I missed it. This is pretty much the only comics board/news site I read, so if it doesn't pop up here, I miss it. I had no idea until this week that Johns was off the book. Major disappointment. I didn't feel like Aquaman was Green Lantern/JSA quality, but I could see putting even with Johns' Flash run if Johns had stayed. One of my favorites right now. DC just can't get any traction with me. I find most of their line easily skippable, and the few books that have really interested me lately, have undergone creative team shakeups. Right now, my DC pull list consists of Fables (ending), Batman, and Justice League (and I liked Aquaman much more than JL). Ugh.
  9. Am I the only person who doesn't like Aaron's Wolverine and the X-Men run? I finally got around to reading the first year and a half, and it fell flat for me. It's fun, but really slight and I really don't care at all about the kids. Kinda sorry I spent money on the run, even though the price wasn't terrible. That said, I'm digging the X books about as much as I ever have. Really enjoyed Battle for the Atom and All-New X-Men is still probably my favorite book (aside from not digging the new costumes),
  10. If it's any consolation, I think that skunk on her head will eventually turn rabid and start biting.
  11. Characterization only helps if it's going to make the character interesting. At this point, I'm sorta hoping that they're saving the special effects budget for the episode where Fin Fang Foom eats everyone not named Coulson.
  12. Blacklist is one of my favorites from the new season, though I don't quite love it. It doesn't seem to have a lot of overall structure yet, and most of the characters aren't interesting. James Spader is carrying the show without much help. I like that so far they've resisted rerforming Red too much. Most shows inevitably soften the lead to be less of anti-hero ("he's a good guy at heart"; even Breaking Bad did this a bit at the end). Red's not above murdering/using relative innocents, if it suits him. They need to make the FBI end of things more interesting. Megan Boone's character is occasionally interesting. The rest of the cast are playing cyphers.
  13. I've liked Infinity well enough, but not loved it. I definitely wouldn't put it up there with DnA's best work, or some of the better Marvel events of the past few years. Definitely not on par with AvX for me. A lot of it is the way Hickman sets up and tells stories. I definitely agree with the "showing not telling" story comment above.
  14. Not sure who any of those people are. New Jack, the surgically reconstructed bit of plastic that used to be Missy Hyatt, and Jimmy Yang?
  15. I kinda want to hear Moore discuss which of his comics were written for 10-13 year olds? Swamp Thing? V for Vendetta? Watchmen? Miracleman? I understand Moore's point, though I don't really think that the maturation of the audience is a bad thing, in and of itself. Not attracting younger readers in any numbers is, but that's not exactly his complaint. Moore was one of the biggest influences in transitioning comics from a gentler golden-age sensibility to the more adult mindset,
  16. The bolded bit makes me think this is mostly a fakeout and they'll bring Brian back fairly quickly.
  17. I don't remember the Michaels gif. Why is he superkicking random office employees? Are those dudes really cameramen who forgot and shot his bald spot from above?
  18. She's obviously been studying Lex Luger's matches.
  19. I don't know why anyone is straining to figure out who the next Cena will be for WWE. There he is. Whether he can succeed in the role or not, there he is... I'd guess closer to the next Ryback, but I have no idea. Has Reigns even had a singles match on WWE TV? I vaguely remember a couple singles matches in FCW, and nothing really gave me the impression that he had the mic skills or workrate to make it to the main event (though you could say that about a lot of guys. I wouldn't have predicted main event success for Cena, Orton, or Batista based on their work in developmental). Reigns reminds me of Ryback more than anything. Unknown quantity with a good look who got over a little bit, and was pushed hard with huge expectations based off a really limited body of work. Maybe Reigns will work out better and become the next Batista? I still don't see him supplanting Cena, though.
  20. Is the Family Guy death supposed to be permanent? I hadn't heard beforehand that they would be killing off a character, so I was surprised when __________ actually died. I kinda figured it would be undone before the end of the ep, and didn't think much about it when it wasn't. Figured it would be undone next week or somesuch?
  21. Anyone watch the Mentalist? I haven't followed the show in years, but I watched last night for the Red John reveal. I have no idea who the character they revealed was, so the subtext is lost on me, but the episode didn't make me think I've missed anything by not watching. The episode was basically one long chase sequence that reminded me of an overbooked WWE PPV. Oh, then the babyface walked away to start a new life - after previously offering to turn himself into the FBI if they allowed him to make the meeting. Again, never mind that this all seemingly hangs all his friends out to dry. Jane might be the most unlikeable dick babyface since face Sheamus, U
  22. How many times are you guys going to fantasy book a Cena heel turn that's not happening. Cena turns heel when the company has a strong #2 babyface who is basically the bastard offspring of Hulk Hogan and Sting and can not only draw fans to Raw and hold up his end in the ring, but also fill Cena's position at speaking engagements and charity functions. Big Show isn't that guy. Orton isn't that guy. Bryan and Punk will never be that guy. They don't have that guy on the roster at this point and, the way they build stars, may not have him until cloning is perfected and Vince grows John Cena 2 in a test tube.
  23. Please tell me this is real. I'd be fucking glued to this. It apparently is real, though from what I've read, Hart doesn't have a distributor. So it'll probably end up on his website or Youtube or something. Apparently, they've filmed eight episodes. Also, from looking at Teddy's website, I just learned he has a cat that can hit a moonsault. Maybe the cat should get a reality show.
