  1. It's an Owen-level one isn't it? Damn it. It will still be possible to get randomly bummed out about this in 20 years It's just really hard to get your head around it when the conception you had of him in your head up right up to the point where he died was that he was a guy who was physically dominant, skilled in the ring and, as of 2020, professionally happier than ever. His big AEW run had only just got started. The universe doesn't care, but my brain is like "he's not the kind of guy who can be dead!". It thinks he's still gonna be out there clotheslining heads off and screaming at underlings somehow
  2. Oh god those last ten minutes. In bits It was nice/weird/sad seeing Bray, E, Becky, Seth et al popping up in the photos, feel bad for those guys being in a different company when this all happened and not being able to just show up to the tribute like Rowan did What a mad few days it's been, it still doesn't feel real
  3. Maybe I'm being cranky but I'm not sure we needed a comedy in-character RIP post from the guys who run the Iron Sheik's Twitter
  4. It's trivial in the scheme of it but I wish he'd had fans in the arena when he debuted in AEW
  5. what the fuck Just...horrible he was so optimistic for his career after making the jump on TIJ etc
  6. http://youtu.be/TfObFdpnv3Q Randomly watched this video just now and lol that the Revenge Scorpion Death Drop animation seems to have been based on this Sting sneak attack on Bischoff, right down to Bischoff trying to tap out before he hits it
  7. I loved Janela pointing at Miro before jumping off the turnbuckle and Miro just laughing and gesturing him to try it before absolutely splattering him with a black hole slam, was so well-executed by both guys
  8. Not particularly interested in Impact crossover stuff overall, but it is nice to hear the casual references to them, Okada and Suzuki, like AEW is comfortable and even proud to be part of a larger, thriving industry, as opposed to WWE constantly screaming WE ARE THE ONLY SHOW IN TOWN, DO NOT UNSUBSCRIBE FROM OUR NETWORK as they melt into irrelevance I liked Hirsch/Baker, it was a little tentative in places but I was into Hirsch being so committed to the armbar gameplan, and Britt's leg lace omoplata setup for her finish is stylish. I like that it has a built-in visual cue that once she gets her hand in there and starts yankin' molars it's the point of no return, like Kurt grapevining the legs Darby is superficially Sting but at the same time, in a much more profound sense, Hangman is Sting - like one of the big moments they have to nail in the next year is Hangman finally being sick of everyone's bullshit and being ready to whip all their asses, a la Sting finally battering the nwo and pointing the bat at Hogan at Uncensored I'm fairly OK with an on-screen GM as long as it's Regal-style "two minute cameo to irritably dispense booking justice after the lunatics take over the asylum" and not like, 20 minute promos where you humiliate the people who can actually wrestle
  9. Schiavone finally getting to scream about Sting turning up out of nowhere again is like the pro wrestling equivalent of this: https://www.theonion.com/world-war-ii-veteran-allowed-to-kill-one-last-german-1819564417/amp
  10. They need to sort the arena echo in the backstage interviews, I shouldn't be skipping past Moxley promos because they're annoyingly incomprehensible The thing for me with Cody's entrance is whenever it gets to the "my father said when I was younger" bit I just desperately want a jumpcut to "HE GOT A BICYCLE"
  11. Haha yeah, finally brought low by cardboard after weeks of vignettes where he's just like "I'm going to voluntarily climb into an iron maiden then have somebody put it in a giant washing machine and switch it on"
  12. Rock solid show. Maybe the most consistent in-ring one since the excellent New Year's Day episode, every match had something and I don't know the last time there were two better promo guys carrying a world title feud than Mox and Kingston. The John Silver shine segment was totally the highlight of the show though yeah. Hadn't noticed Reynolds being hurt!
  13. There are going to be so many people in Stamford this week tasked with making sure Vince doesn't somehow see that musical segment
  14. Totally - I literally just posted on the podcast thread about how engaging I find Eddie Kingston. As people have said it's not just about the verbiage with him, there's a whole suite of body language at play there Those three guys all have a common thread of having some sense of "realness" and experience of dealing with hardship, which WWE of course produces out of everyone. A guy who grew up in hardship in Bulgaria and dismantles people with his hands but is disarmingly chill and funny = intrigue imo
  15. Kingston on TIJ was a really good listen. He comes across as such a smart guy
  16. Miro could probably read out 2002—era HHH promos from his phone and I'd be like "yes that was fine", he has an easygoing charisma that is endlessly endearing to me. As much as his heel run up to that Mania loss to Cena is where it went best for him in WWE, I'd have him be a babyface just because of that charisma and what a sympathetic seller he is Dustin will be having *** matches with nothing but punches in them in five years
  17. Is there any small chance both options get the same number of votes and they have to have a 60 minute broadway where they gradually die of exhaustion from taking and receiving a succession of moderately damaging transition moves
  18. Years: 1 Days: 365 WWE Universal Championship Reigns: 1 Good matches with people who aren't Daniel Bryan:
  19. When they put those to-camera Mox promos on, without initially noticing myself do it I put my phone down and start paying attention to him
  20. Iirc he has tended to occasionally either have it countered before hitting it, or attempt it as a manly no-sell spot before hilariously falling out of the ring dead instead KO'R rules and is the best UE guy imo
  21. Does KENTA not live in Japan? Or is he hurt at the moment?
  22. Hmm, looks like AEW beat WWE in the ratings because Dean Ambrose isn't shielding any more
  23. Thanks. I've committed to the slog. It's half the fun I guess. Someone has also started a list on Steam compiling redone versions of a lot of mainstream American wrestlers w alongside the updated moves they have so far: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2137975147 Laughed uproariously at the Sid thing and a lot of other recent creations. So mean. After a miserable period for Pro wrestling, perhaps extreme banter fan made moves will save us
