Really is it any fucking stupider than grabbing an interim belt and fighting Eastern Europeans that no one knows until he moves up to 140 grabs a belt where he will fight some more Eastern Europeans, the odd Mexican and maybe a random guy from the UK (not like a fight with a Regis Prograis or Jose Ramirez would happen). Then go up to 147 after all the names have moved on or have fallen to also ran status and grab a belt. Then it will be look at Mr. 3 division champ who has fought guys no one outside hardcores have heard of. I'm sure people in 1982 thought it was stupid that Azumah Nelson after 14 fights took on Salvador Sanchez in a title fight on short notice. He lost but did well and learned a fuck of a lot more than fighting a gang of random fading contenders or palookas. If Davis is moving up he would be a great fight for Haney but it will likely never happen. Davis will get a regular WBA belt and be content fighting 130 pound guys.
