  1. CM Punk is working the polygamy gimmick, in a way
  2. found this on a YouTube search for "Senegal Wrestling"
  3. Daniel Bryan shows up and grabs both belts. Match awarded to Orton
  4. if Wrestling could pass a New Jersey Italian off as a Mongolian for a few years, maybe they could pass a Mongolian off as a Chinese wrestler in the US. Or Blue Wolf would get a Genghis Khan gimmick in the US. So anyways.. the match tonight.. well, let's just say that they'll want you to think that Punk or Bryan can't do anything after they face 3 on 1 handicap matches.. then Bryan probably accidentally costs Cena the title and Orton makes up with HHH or something
  5. Random 1997 Worldwide: The Amazing French Canadians v. Doc Dean and Robbie Brookside https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FPY7xO1N3w ------ and, a super-quick Japanese womens match from Worldwide too. Unless Wikipedia is wrong, Satomura was 17 when this match happened. Also love her method of just windmilling her arms for no apparent reason while running. This being WCW, i'm guessing Satomura randomly appeared a few months later and that they barely acknowledged this loss when Hosaka randomly appeared. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xdwa2DIIWHI
  6. Random idea that won't happen, a WWE cross of the World Cup/Champions Carnival, with 12 wrestlers representing 12 countries in a round robin (10 WWE guys can fill 10 countries (US Canada Mexico Russia Switzerland Great Britain Ireland South Africa Ghana and Samoa, with imports or new guys representing Japan and China*) held over 5 episodes of Raw, 5 of Smackdown and a PPV In the tournament, the US representative loses 2 of his first 3 and is tied for 7th after 3 rounds. After 8 rounds, he's tied for 3rd with the Russian. And in the last 3 matches, he defeats the Japanese, Russian and Chinese representatives, while the Japanese/Chinese wrestlers also drop matches to one of the guys at the bottom of the table. With the Japanese upset loss in the final round (round 11) making US/China a match for the tournament victory. But looking up possible names for such a round robin made me notice that there's not really many prominent ethnic Chinese wrestlers, are there? You'd think there'd be a Chinese TV market to tap into if someone could be found to fit that role Although thinking about it, pro wrestling has some obvious logistical problems in dictatorships too
  7. not sure what it says when #2 on the list of unification matches happened 2 years ago, and the titles were un-unified a few minutes later Also love the B&W because blood
  8. who's to say the Heart Punch can't cause concussions too? what does the Heart Punch not cause? Diabetes? Appendicitis? Random: I don't think they could bring the Heart Punch back as a finisher (there is a logical kayfabe reason why it wouldn't work, better conditioned wrestlers). But I think the Claw could work. But it'd take some guy who could crush apples with his hand, or applying the Claw to make it look like it's crushing the nose of the other guy (thumb/pinky on temples, nose under the palm, with the visual impression that the nose is at risk, or that the guy is being smothered by the Claw)
  9. The Business lives: always good to know there's still old wrestlers facing down the Heart Punch these days
  10. I guess Collision in Korea 2 is on hold then. Although the NK-News people (grain of salt) mention Jang meeting with Kim Jong-Nam (older brother of KJU, removed from succession for sneaking into Japanese Disneyland using a false name) as a reason for the execution. So recent events there have been undersold, like rumored executions of musicians and the whole bizarre thing with the 85 year old Korean War Veteran and such
  11. Well, unless I didn't use the Trademark Electronic Search System correctly.. the reason why he can't be called AJ Styles is because TNA owns the trademark on that name. So that might be a solid reason. How is that, he was using that name as a rookie in NWA Wildside. Some stuff copied and pasted from TESS Owner (REGISTRANT) TNA Entertainment, LLC LIMITED LIABILITY CORPORATION DELAWARE 4100 Spring Valley Road Dallas TEXAS 75244 Other Data The name(s), portrait(s), and/or signature(s) shown in the mark identifies Allen Jones, whose consent(s) to register is submitted. so.. I don't know how consent would work if he unconsented about 6/7 years after everything was finalized Well, worst case scenario, He's AJ Stylez. What is Stylish Al doing in the Raw Zone? He can change his name to Allen Jones Styles and use "A. J. Styles" to avoid the trademark, right? a bit different from what Rick Rude or the Warrior did, but..
  12. I gotta wonder how much raw/unaired footage is in the WWE vault these days? did they wind up acquiring unseen matches with WCW Champion Sid from 1994? or was the unaired footage scrapped and the WWE only got the master tapes of the stuff that aired Well, unless I didn't use the Trademark Electronic Search System correctly.. the reason why he can't be called AJ Styles is because TNA owns the trademark on that name. So that might be a solid reason. How is that, he was using that name as a rookie in NWA Wildside. 14. has anybody ever put it on the record how they decided on the matchups for the Worldwide/Pro squashes at the Orlando tapings? it'd seem like a pretty minor question, and I don't know if it has come up on a shoot. Just asking since these shows produced some pretty random matchups (Ric Flair v. Lizmark Jr, and such). So, did they just pick names out of a enhancement talent hat? or did people volunteer on the spot?
  15. the guy uploading 1995 WCW just uploaded two 11/18 Worldwide Matches (Eddy v. Buck Quartermain, Meng squash), so I suspect he'll have the Liger match up soon enough when he gets to the Pro. Kinda sucks that these matches have Sonny Oono doing 1940s Looney Tunes level Japanese talk as part of the commentary. But oh well, Sonny was the guy lucky enough to know Bischoff. Did the Southern Posse get fed to Chono/Sasaki and Saito/Sasaki, because Saito/Sasaki is up right now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYbj41UtOTc
  16. now i'm thinking about Andre the Giant doing Rick Rude's pre-match mic routine
  17. I...I... how do you fill three discs with Ultimate Warrior? How? He had a few good matches but three discs... I mean even if one is a documentary and another is all promos... HOW? Warrior-Savage and Warrior-Hogan, what else am I missing that is worth seeing? Vs Andre? No way the WM12 match with HHH makes it on there. ,maybe the 3rd disk would be filled with promos
  18. Mr. Kanellis v. Mr. Bella sounds just as promising
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RlENkohb6o come for the squashes, stay for the two heel color commentators (Heenan and Lawler)/one face PBP guy booth (this was Lawler's 2nd episode of WWF TV, so I suspect it took a few shows for Lawler to figure out how to split time with Heenan, and Lawler was a bit literal for King stuff at first because this is 90s WWF) i'm sure with all the WWF B-Shows and syndicated TV... they've had their share of two heels/one face booths. Someone can mention how long they kept Vince/Heenan/Lawler as a booth, can't imagine it lasted long into 1993. I'd take "Don't give a fuck" Heenan over shitty Lawler for some reason. Maybe because it's easy to figure out why Heenan's commentary declined in WCW while Lawler's decline is a bit harder to pin down (although a lot of it is that Lawler has been on Raw for pretty much all of 12 consecutive years and he's stale) Also, I saw the Prime Time Wrestling episode where Perfect became Savage's partner and then the Perfect/Flair loser-leaves WWF match for the first time (hey, I became a fan in 1997).. and kudos to Rob Bartlett for not saying anything for most of the match. As for the build to the turn, Hall.. then Flair.. then Heenan instigating Perfect towards accepting Savage's offer was amazing Edit: Love that one commercial break was left intact. So the original source of this video is Wausau, Wisconsin of all places.
  20. Did Sid ever work as a face for more than a few random months? The Sid Justice face stint, a few months as a face in 1993 WCW, a few months in mid-1996, portions of 1999, then I think his longest face stints were in 2000 are we counting lameass 1995 babyface Diesel as a "next Hogan"? I'm surprised Sunny hasn't wound up on Chaturbate yet. But maybe the returns for Skype are a bit more direct
  21. oh man, should have done more Lumosity that day... but yeah.. Austin v. the Aliens. Naturally the Aliens fly a UFO down from the roof of the Superdome somehow, then one of them bumps like D-Lo (takes back body drop onto the UFO and then a Stunner on drop of the UFO). Not sure what the aliens would look like, but they came from a galaxy that got wrestling from 1998 and they arrive in 2014 expecting Austin to still be around, so they demand a match against Austin. Then they randomly incinerate a few useless mid-carders to build to the match
  22. His scheduled 2 hour interview with Jim Cornette got dumped because of technical problems, so he answered fan mail instead.. nah, Cornette is on Thursday. He was asking for Q&A questions a few hours after mentioning Cornette being on Thursday Haven't listened to this Podcast. Does it set up Austin to wrestle a bunch of masked Uchu Majin Silver X Aliens at Wrestlemania 30?
  23. Soccer refs are just as blind as WWE refs, so the transition should be seemless. The WWE authority isn't quite as effectively corrupt as FIFA though
  24. the WWE never went for the "cameramen on the apron" idea as hard as WCW did, right?
