  1. Just lost my job because a couple former co-workers, who I thought were friends, decided to tell my workplace that I was planning to blow up the building.
  2. Bill Cosby's disapproval makes that post.
  3. Umaga had a short babyface run in the summer of 2007.
  4. Titus Young was arrested yesterday for felony battery, a day before he was supposed to go to court for felony burglary and assault charges.
  5. http://www.chud.com/11637/review-halloween-devins-take/ This review perfectly echoes how I feel about RZ's first HALLOWEEN.
  6. Once again, Fowler is wrong.
  7. Once again, Austin had no problem putting Brock over. It was putting Brock over on a random Raw with zero build that he wanted no part of.
  8. I'm going to give it a couple more episodes, but damn this 100 minutes feels like 5 hours.
  9. Finally checked out THE PURGE in anticipation of seeing the sequel next weekend. Yes, the premise is ridiculous, but if you're a horror fan, you have probably accepted worse. Thinking about it, if you really want to, one could justify the impossible stats that are given to justify the purge as pure bullshit government propaganda. The movie makes an earnest attempt to sell this reality before the purge starts, which I appreciated. I also thought the presentation of this as a kind of entertainment for the better off was well done, especially the radio DJ casually shrugging off a caller pointing out the obvious: that this is only done to rid the country of homeless and various other "undesirables". I liked Ethan Hawke in this a lot. He was great playing a guy who pretty much owes his entire lifestyle to this annual event, who thinks that bad things will only happen to "those people" and his biggest concern on this night is which yacht to buy. I really liked both he and his wife trying to sell this as a good thing to their children, while you can tell that neither actually believes it. When Hawke finally realizes what is happening and admits to himself that the purge is bullshit, he sells it very effectively. He's also a rare "smart" horror protagonist, in at least he doesn't give his attackers a second chance to get him after getting them down. In another movie, the purger gang, particularly the leader, would have come off to me as a really forced attempt to create memorable villains, but in the world of the movie, I totally bought that privileged, sociopathic little shits like these college students who were born on third base would embrace this idea as a chance to act out their base instincts on their targets while treating it like an opportunity to star in their own horror movie, never comprehending (or probably even ocontemplating) that these are real people they're killing. While the "message" of the movie is pretty damned ham-fisted (there's no way the target of the purgers being black is a coincidence), it does a good job of creating its own reality, and giving villains that are easy to root against. The swerve at the end does seem like an attempt to be "balanced" in going after both the Mitt Romney and Occupy Wall Street types, which I didn't particularly care for. The movie smartly pays off in actually having the bad guys mostly get their just deserts, which is becoming a rarity these days. At the end of the day, I liked this one and am looking forward to checking out ANARCHY, plus I also came away thinking about the various angles of the purge that can be explored, so if this becomes a true franchise, there is at least potential to not make the same movie over and over again.
  10. I really hope this is the next revisit. There are a metric fuckton of 80s movies I am looking forward to seeing either for the first time or the first time in a long time. Plus I get to indulge my franchise whore-ness.
  11. Also: Kelly's last second dive to win at Miami in 1988. Andre Reed breaking 9 tackles en route to a TD against the Pats in the 1993 opener. Really though, the Stratton hit should have been on that list.
  12. Cleveland's first two options are from 1950 and 1964. The last option is The Fumble in 1987. Buffalo's three options are Wide Right, the Music City Miracle, and Beebe running down Lett in the Super Bowl. It's sad when the only positive play was a hustle on a fumble return when they were already getting blown out. Detroit's include Dan Orlovsky running out of the back of the end zone. Considering that the Norwood miss is used in ANY football movie, it probably wins. The most memorable game is the comeback, but there's no real single moment that stands out. . . Reed's third TD to give them the lead, Odoms' pick in OT, Christie's game winning FG. Could also throw Reed's 2nd TD on 4th down and the suicide onside recovery by Christie. Other memorable Bills plays: Bruce Smith knocking Montana out of the 93 AFC title game. Steve Tasker getting ejected after the opening kickoff in his final game. Doug Flutie's last second TD to upset the then undefeated Jags, kicking off FlutieMania and leading a charge to the playoffs after an 0-3 start. Going really old school: Mike Stratton breaking Keith Lincoln's ribs to turn the tide in the 64 AFL title game. There are memorable plays. ESPN is just lazy.
  13. I still love this movie, despite finding out later that Robert Graysmith is dazzlingly full of shit, and the friendship between he and Avery depicted in the movie never really existed.
  14. Another thing that is really getting on my nerves this time of the year: NFLN & NFL.com reporting every time someone says how great their team or teammate is looking. Camp hasn't even started yet. EVERYONE looks good. Let me know when you have a story like: Jim Harbaugh says Kapernick looks "like garbage". "We may be lucky to win four games this year."
  15. Watching NFL AM, wondering who told Kimberly Jones to take a bunch of downers before going on camera. She's been Michael Cole-esque in her awfulness while trying to show enthusiasm.
  16. I was expecting the Layla/Summer teaming after what happened on Raw.
  17. I gave MURDER IN THE FIRST a shot, but the sub plots are so inane and the show is so obviously building to a swerve in the finale that will render the Blunt stuff meaningless, I'm settling for reading the episode recaps on wikipedia.
  18. Ending my 4th by watching the only good GAB the WWE put on: 2007.
  19. Sid's birthday is 12/16. It is, however, the anniversary of him joining the WWF and Barry Windham's birthday. For some reason, different websites list different dates. Some say 7/4 and others say 12/16. I'll just assume that his birth took place over a 5 month period. Sid said on twitter that it's 12/16.

  21. Talley would still kick his ass.
