  1. This was his way of working Arn Anderson into managing FTR. All he had to do was pitch the idea to Mid-South Tony, and he be in their corner next Collision
  2. Brock vs Cody was my match of the night. It was their best match they've had against each other. I always get enjoyment out of seeing Brock work a long match even though he always turns purple 30 seconds in. The main event went way to long. It wouldn't have been so bad if Roman hadn't almost completely dominated most of the match. I've Jey had more hope spots earlier on instead of until Solo got involved.
  3. I don't see Endeavor not letting Vince 100% have say over operations related to wrestling. Obviously they don't have to and be hands on if they want to but I don't see them getting hands on just yet. I keep seeing that Triple H isn't on the board of Directors and likely won't have any creative involvement in the product when everything officially gets into place. I guess Hunters involvement depends on how much ,if at all involvement Vince will allow. I'm sure Hunter walked away with some really good money out of the sell but I'm sure he would have rather have been given and position of executive power in the company.
  4. If they weren't identical twins, they would've had one turn on the other. Jey presumably would be the one of the two that they would run with ti get a strong sustained push. Good on the New Day for intentionally trying to keep a precedent of being a strong longterm team or faction to never break up. That's something that needs to be more of a thing in mainstream American Wrestling, especially WWE. I heard the Street Profits say they don't want to split either.
  5. I was listening to the now Infamous Lufisto interview and it led me to Chris Hero on Ace Steels podcast. I can listen to them talk about the Blood Bloods training camp for hours. It was really to listen them talk about the up their come up on the indies. I'm a fan of Punk but Ace Steels can work circles around him in my opinion. It was cool to hear both he a Hero's insight into coaching todays talent
  6. That'll make Moxley the modern day Freddie Blassie when old ladies in Japan were having heart attacks because of the visual of Blassie drinking Rikidozans blood like a vampire
  7. I have no desire to ever go back and watch 03 Raws but based on my recollection of that period, I'm willing to bet Jericho and Christian are the MVPs of that show. Orton once you get deep into the Fall is really good on Raw, probably the peak of his Athleticism too
  8. What's your opinion on Punk doing Bret tribute spots ? You think it takes away from his matches. Punk has never been the most crisp in execution of moves and such. He moves he does pretty well but especially when he does other people's moves it really stands out how much better the originator of that move/spot is. The top rope elbow is slopy looking but it doesn't bother me because I know he’s doing it a tribute to Savage. As for doing Brets stuff on one hand I love that Punk and FTR are so open about playing tribute to Bret in some of the things they do in the ring. It's like they are dedicating their whole career to Bret, but Bret is one of those guys that he was so flawless in his execution it makes anyone who does certain of his stuff look like they shouldn't be doing the at all. FTR are really good the way they do Brets stuff and them being a team it makes it cooler. More importantly though I hope more people take more things from Brets work not just his spots. He approach to match structure, believability , attention to detail and nuances. I'm a huge fan of Shawn Michaels in ring work but there's too many people that take stuff from him even long before he retired and now you have him training people in developmental directly. That's definitely not a bad thing but there was so much more Bret was good at from an inring perspective than Shawn. As time goes on and people go further and further with the crazy moves and spots, alot of Brets approach to wrestling with be needed. I often think to my self, if that Montreal screwjob didn't happen. Bret would have been the one running developmental like Hunter and Shawn is now and had a more direct influence on current wrestling. Even if he never go his career cut short and he got to be active in the ring much longer he would have had a more direct influence just by proxy of working so many people, especially coming out of the Ruthless Aggression era. The Natural was just talking about how flawless Bret is and how fitting the Excellence of Execution monitor is. I just see a post on my Instagram timeline of a reel of clips Brets punches. His punches looked so snug and crisp because he laid them in.
  9. I don't know, I was listening to a podcast earlier going over MitB and they mentioned it was a clip a fan posted of what looked like a stage hand giving Roman hand signals of when to make different facial expressions after the Match was over at the PPV. That kinda brought down my opinion of that match. Some of the melodramatics of this angle has come across as to forced and its starting to take the starch out of it for me.
  10. I'm finishing up watching MitB and as I get to the main event with Reigns & Solo vs Usos, started thinking to myself that Bret Hart would've loved to be able to work PPV matches and nor have to worry about the show running out of time. Roman in particular takes so much time to get in the ring and before the bell even rings. I know alot of that is him taking his time trying to generate heat, not just the fact the everyone there has to have this drawn out elaborate entrance. Even after the match started Roman was Larry Zbyszco out the put there reacting to the crowd, making them wait lol. I remember Earl Hebner saying that people Shawn and Taker often ignore when he was told to tell then to wrap the match up. I could imagine Bret was the same way. I'm this network era those guys in their prime would love to have as much more time then they did. Even in AEW, their PPVs are way over 3 hours alot of time
  11. If Human Tornado didn't get that serious knee injury, you gotta think he'd be one of the top guys in AEW or atleast in a big non inring position there like Excalibur. He was such a big name in the So Cal indies that he would been a part of the foundation of AEW. I could also have seen him in NXT in the mid 2010s when they were picking up Indy talent left and right
  12. Besides the Women's match everything on this show was really good. I marked out for Will Hobbs Kevin Nash shoulder strikes in the corner. That main even once again was good. This was my first time seeing Ricky Starks since he was on NWA Powerr. He has that star presence. They would be crazy not to try push him on higher. I know Guevara, Jungle Boy, and Darby is higher on Tony's priority list as far as which younger talent to get over as another one of The top guys to get on the level of the Elite but Ricky has more natural charisma and just a SuperStar presence than those guys right now. I also think with Forbidden Door coming up, Switchblade is really benefiting off AEW working with New Japan. Jay White seemed like not much of a big deal after the first week on being an ARW contracted talent. Now history in New Japan is relevant to the current booking and he's now more than just another guy you can expect a good make from
  13. Did Meltzer give Luchasaurus vs Wardlow 5 stars of was I just seeing things?
  14. I wonder if Hunter was relieved when Shawn retired after WM14. I know at that point in his career it was beneficial politically to be so closely associated with the top guy those first few years. He was even in the booking meetings at that point right? At the same time, by Shawn being gone atleast some of the heat Shawn had would stop being transferred over
  15. I was in denial but, other people were pointing out that didn't look like he was clean the first week or two that he was back on TV. They obviously like the guy and he was almost immediately put back in matches with the Bloodline so that's crazy if true
  16. And Cole is aligned with with Roddy Strong who is in better shape now and probably a better worker now than he ever was before. Kyle O'Reilly resonates with me alot more than Cole also. I like Cole but I don't think he was at the level of his push when he was at top of NXT. It's like how people say Justin Credible was a really good worker when he was the Champ in ECW but he wasn't good enough for people to buy into him as Champ. I didn't get to really watch ECW till they got on TNN so I bought into him as Champ but I understand other people point especially those who lived through the previous eras of the Company. I think Adam Cole is really good but it's hard for me buy in to him as The Guy.
  17. I haven't watched his A&E Biography yet. I sister who's not much of a wrestling fan at all texted me a few years ago after her and her husband watched the Netflix documentary. Sheiky was such a historical figure in WWF during the Rock n Wrestling connection. Even when Duggan came in ,before their incident he was still slotted as a top villain. I'd like to check out his Pre WWF stuff in AWA and Mid South.
  18. Seth Rollins is having an "Open Challenge" for the new World Title. I get that he wants that Title to be the workers World title but think him letting anyone challenge for it straight out the gate makes the belt look lesser if anyone challenge for it. But hey , I'm old school now. I be 36 tomorrow so don't judge me if I come across as Jim Cornette yelling at the clouds
  19. This was a really good TakeOver. Probably the best TakeOver since the 2.0 era because I rarely miss TakeOver and PLEs but I'm pretty sure I've not watched atleast one TakeOver since they switched to 2.0. I haven't watched the last 2 matches. I thoroughly enjoyed everything I did see. Noam Dar should be on the main roster , he's such a good heel. Tyler Bate should have been called up by now too but he's still young. Dijak is insanely good, I wish Hunter dud something with him before Vince came back smh.
  20. It's probably a generational gap thing with the wrestlers themselves too. I doubt too many people are going to be petty about using each others move like in the previous eras. You hear stories of guys getting upset about someone doing a move that's not even a finisher. I heard a story recently about supposedly Roman stopped Lana and Nia Jaxx from doing a table spot because he had a table spot planned for his segment even though Lana and Nia had a program built around tables at the moment. I don't know how true it was but diva stans were really hot about it. As meticulous as alot of these matches are planned out these days , you'd think they'd have less people doing the same spots thar were done earlier in the card. Then again, with wrestlers in the past not having having to plan thing out just as much probably was a reason you didn't see some of the same stuff over and over. If you look at how NXT Evolved into more of and independent wrestling friendly brand, you can tell Hunter and now Shawn are more concerned with having better matches contemporary to modern wrestling outside of WWE and "stealing the show" and that had bled over to the main roster not long after before it was only the top guys or tenured guys were able to get away with having insane stuff done in there match. Now you have guys in the lower Midcard doing spots to each other to try to get over. Some times I think these agents in WWE just let anything fly nowadays
  21. Watching Night of Champions, I want to know what older fans like 35 and up feel about Main Event caliber matches opening up the PLE/PPVs. WWE has been going it for over a decade for the most part especially at WrestleMania. I know NWA especially Crockett structured there cards to build up to the main event. Basically try to make it impossible for the previous matches to out do the main event or semi main event. Although I do understand you want your main in most cases to be the best match on the card especially if your a territory that heavy on workrate. Nowadays especially since the Network started and WWE PPVs are mainly on their own streaming service they do necessarily have to end at a specific time like when they were strictly on PPV and have to end by a certain time. They can go long and they often do to their detriment. I really enjoyed Rollins vs Styles and I was thinking that they wouldn't be later than intermission. I know Charlotte and Rhea were bummed that they didn't close the show at Mania but it's not the 90s when the main event was had to close the show. Nowadays most PPVs had 3 main event matches and often one opens the show
  22. It was a great match in itself but I was on the edge of my seat hoping Cena wouldn't tie Flairs record, technically he still hasn't but it made it more exciting for me. I wasn't completely surprised Cena went over but it could have went either way my mind.
  23. I think this is the best Saudi Show as far at workrate overall Asuka vs Bianca was good. Seth vs AJ was great. I liked Ali vs Gunther and Trish vs Becky was better than I expected. The main event was overbooked towards the finish and the match kinda dragged early on but the finish was entertaining watching it as it happened because I was expecting Roman and Solo to win. I was expecting one of the Usos to turn but I wasn't sure it would be today.
  24. It was a great match in itself but I was on the edge of my seat hoping Cena wouldn't tie Flairs record, technically he still hasn't but it made it more exciting for me. I wasn't completely surprised Cena went over but it could have went either way my mind.
  25. If Bryan didn't get injured, we would have gotten Brock vs Bryan instead. If I remember that was the plan for SummerSlam right? We probably wouldn't have gotten this type of match between these to if it didn't happen this night, unless Cena would have wanted to do this match at Survivor Series that year. Brock vs Bryan on a major PPV following his big Wrestlemania title win would have been a better match than the one they had years later because Bryan was the default face in the match even though he was heel at the time. Plus in 2014 if Bryan wasn't so injured by then, Brock would have been his first fresh opponent on PPV during that reign and people would have been hotter for Bryan then and it would have been surreal seeing him beat Brock clean
