JANUARY 2019 WRESTLING DISCUSSION

Damn that's awesome, I didn't see any local channels on mine (though it's not a huge deal since I get a few of them through DirecTV NOW). Im also glad i can catch Impact on there since they're leaving Pop (the ten day delay doesn't bother me since im usually a couple weeks behind anyway) -

Dude I made that picture! I posted it to a message board about championship belts back in 2006 or 2007. -

That's so funny man because, again, I was a kid, so my perception was that they were looking at Sting in the rafters or Syxx or Raven in the crowd or you know Scott Norton or Hennig or someone running down the aisle to run interference. So for me, it actually did the polar opposite and added to the whole presentation. -

I will never, ever forget this. I was 9 years old and a huge NWO fan-- I knew I was in for a rough day with the WCW/Sting/Luger/DDP loyalists at summer day camp that Tuesday. Macho Man backstage flipping tables and yelling "It was a fluke!!" in the NWO locker room while WCW popped bottles on Luger and Giant cleaned the NWO spray paint off the belt is etched in my memory forever. The greatest, most perfect time in wrestling IMO. I was accidentally smartened up by hanging out on AOL after Montreal about 3 months later so this is just a real precious time for me. -
I like Aleister Black for this idea. I think with Undertaker part time and Roman sidelined someone needs that kind of aura. Black could be that guy.

I was watching some old WCW before and it got me wondering what Juvi's been up to. Can anyone recommend some semi-recent matches of his that might be worth tracking down?

Legit didn't know that was a pejorative. I have a friend who has a (semi-secret) preference for those types of ladies and hes the only one I've ever heard use it, but I thought it was just like.. for lack of a better word, a porno term. I'm not sure if I've ever used it here or not over the years but sorry if I did -

We are like one day from Raw and if Vince himself has any idea what he's going to say I'd be shocked -

Theres such a swift drop off at a certain point with both women's divisions. It almost makes me wish that rather than have a Raw and SD women's champion, that you had a women's world, IC/us and tag titles that worked both shows. It would be so much easier to groom a greener talent (or rebuild a stale talent) for a larger role with that setup IMO -

Yo what about a Joe/Owens tag team or a Joe/Owens/(AOP or Bludegon Bros) stable? -

It's a very cool finish you've come up with, but I'm not sure I personally want to see that match. My butthole would be too clenched waiting for something awful to happen. If hypothetically Flair actually can somehow take a bump, which let's be clear, he shouldn't, then i think the smart move would be to have him do something real simple like eat a few punches from Becky after running out to help Charlotte or something. But knowing he himself said it, it's probably bullshit. He's been saying that since he retired. Lawler and Steamboat almost died in a WWE ring in their 60s, so I just don't see any of this going down. -

I have not liked a set of tag belts since the 2002 SmackDown tags, which I really only liked because they were kind of a modern update on the far superior Reggie Parks versions. Ah that makes sense. I'm out of the loop -

lol what?! What doctor would clear a 70 year old who was just shitting in a bag like last year? I mean I love Ric Flair and take nothing away from him but come on -

They're doing nothing with sanity right? That would be a pretty good pairing. Like it sucks I think the best thing for him is just a Wyatt family redux but they cannot handle booking him as a solo act even when he was WWE champion. Especially when he was WWE champion, actually. -
Saaaame. What did his wife say to you guys?

While I agree Miller floundered for a bit without Onoo, I have to completely unironically say that Commissioner Cat was probably one of the highlights of 2000 WCW.

DECEMBER 2018 WRESTLING DISCUSSION
Zakk_Sabbath replied to RIPPA's topic in The PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
Yeah that was in the ESPN article too and I thought was very kind of her to say she's cool with it and to give him a second chance, even if he probably doesn't deserve it. I just think it's kinda messed up they potentially put her in an uncomfortable situation by asking. It's his debut, it's very high profile. And look: I'm not even saying that Hardy doesn't deserve to fight. What he did to that poor woman was awful but it's been five years and I have no idea what his deal is now. I'm just saying that it's insensitive and tone deaf on UFCs part. Not trying to speak for Rachael or anyone else possibly offended or affected by it. -

Yeah thats some rough optics, regardless of whether they spoke to her. For those who don't follow MMA: UFC booked ex Dallas Cowboy Greg Hardy who had a pretty brutal domestic violence arrest, if I'm not mistaken he had pushed his girlfriend down onto a couch covered in a huge pile of various rifles. On the same show was a fighter named Rachael Ostovich who had unfortunately just recently become a victim of domestic violence herself. Dana White claimed on ESPN they consulted her before booking him but still dude what are you thinking -

Man, really sorry to hear that about Big Cass. Whatever I've said about him, no one deserves that. And I'm not sure how I feel about whoever took the photo of him down on the ground. On the one hand, it seems kind of scummy to me. On the other, I think about all the things I don't really know journalism ethics and the question of whether that photo is or isn't newsworthy. Sure that guys (probably) not a journalist but I think their rules are probably at the very least a good baseline measure here. I don't know. I just feel bad. -
