  1. There are lots of things that I find worth criticizing about AEW, lack of diversity is not one thing. Swole didn't get renewed because she's really not that good, and that's OK, it's how a business where you have to be really fucking good to get paid well works. That being said, it's not the first time Khan acts like a juvenile when confronted with criticism. He is not reacting like a guy in his position should. I have a few things on my mind as to why that is so, but it is all speculation since I don't know the guy...
  2. I know people like to see a positive in a tragedy, but I'm having a tough time here. All the respect in the world for Amanda Huber and all the strength is what I want to provide. All of you with kids, family and friends, make sure that they know how you feel about them, it's always worth it.
  3. When AJ came to WWE, he was well known not to be in perfect health and was in his late 30ies. It's 4-5 years later now, he had a few serious injuries he seemingly never fully healed up // tended to. Now he is in a tag team, where he does the major part of the work, so I don't think it's fair to name him as an example for talent phoning it in. I really think that most of the WWE talent works TOO hard, pretty much a Modern wrestling problem though, where everyone does almost everything in every match. But no, wrestlers phoning it in is not a WWE problem.
  4. I prefer Bret vs Austin, but yeah, both matches were amazing and topped everything WCW did that year in ring.
  5. I really need to get my marine biology straight, I always thought Dolphins were part of the family of Whales. They are only part of the infra order. I feel like a fool. I remember Becky being planned as the Wrestler to build Smackdown's Women's Division around a few years ago and she was amazing at it h helping gals get over despite having a weird half assed push. I can see her doing well as a "non traveling traveling champ".
  6. Madden got credited AND mentioned (twice) in Flair's early 2000's book "To be the man", there seems to be a bond/friendship. I think the book doesn't really hold up, but even when I really liked it at first read back in 2004 or 2005, Madden seemed incredibly out of place.
  7. There are probably people with more knowledge on the German / Austrian catch than me, but I had the feeling that talking / promos were never a part of this particular region in wrestling. I think it was simply a live show, not really formatted TV. If there were TV broadcasts, it was probably taped live events and such. So, I don't think it's a particular part of the wrestling over here. It kind of became one after the Catch Wrestling Association died and all the successors were influenced by American wrestling, I feel. I personally like the Promos of classic US Wrestling, some guys really just talked people into the buildings.
  8. As a European, I do. I can't speak for everyone, of course.
  9. The last of the West German World Cup winning squad of 1954, Horst Eckel, died today aged 89. Long, rich life. May he r. i. p.
  10. Football players can be extremely dumb. That's all I have to say. If you ever thought that Ballon d'Or meant a damned thing, just look at this year's results. What a joke.
  11. I have to tell you the truth, even if it hurts: I think Brutus wasn't a real barber. If he was, he wasn't a good one. Although, with the thickness of all those mullets, hedge clippers weren't too bad off a choice.
  12. The tournament was already decided before today, Terunofuji being guaranteed one win ahead everyone because he overcame the energetic Abi in the Day 14 main event. Abi had beaten Takakeisho on Day 13. The final match of the tournament put Terunofuji against Takakeisho and it was a good show by both men, put the Yokozuna prevailed, securing his first career Zensho. There will be special prizes for Abi, Takanosho and URA ? Mitakeumi turned in a fine 11-4 performance from Sekiwake, which would spark faint conversations about a possible Ozeki run, if he wasn't Mitakeumi.
  13. I unfortunately have so little time to watch at the moment, I confine myself to Makuuchi. Checked this one out, fine match. Little guy vs big guy is always fun!
  14. At the halfway mark, both Terunofuji and Takakeisho are 8-0. Takakeisho looked to have lost to Ichinojo today, but a video review revealed that the big Mongolian had grabbed his opponents hair and pulled on it, resulting in a DQ. Terunofuji has a streak of securing kachi koshi on Day 8 for the last four tournaments in a row. Trailing the top duo are Mitakeumi and Abi, who is wreaking havoc down the ranks after his forced break for violating Covid Protocol. Mitakeumi will have tough matchups in the second week, it will be interesting to see if they start bringing Abi up for tougher opponents early or wait for the final three matches. Still mathematically in the hunt at 6-2 are: Tamawashi, Ura, Hokutofuji (like Abi quite underranked), Sadanoumi
  15. Basho is off to a good start with some of the top guys performing well, namely Mitakeumi, Takakeisho and Terunofuji all getting out of the blocks with a 3-0 start. Same for some guys low on the banzuke like returnee Abi, Hokutofuji and Aoiyama. Oh, and Ura started off with 3-0 aswell. Down at Juryo 11, Enho is at a 2-1 winning record for the first time in ages. I hope he can continue and stop the decline.
  16. Thanks, @RIPPA, every time I try to grasp the Nations League stuff my brain melts a little.
  17. Is this due to some Nations League shenanigans for Austria? They lost out to Scotland on the second place in their group. It's weird how some of the European groups felt close at one point and are now long since decided while other groups seemed decided only to still be open on final matchday.
  18. The next Basho starts is barely hours away, but the - very likeable - folks of Grand Sumo Breakdown did a very cool job of putting a perspective on Hakuho's career. Those guys are fun and on Spotify aswell.
  19. Damn, that sucks. Dementia is an asshole. Hope she didn't suffer. To this day I would truly and honestly like to know who came up with Judy Bagwell as on air talent, why, and just how they assumed it was going to be good. It's honest curiosity.
  20. Hope him and Warner have a speedy and complete recovery. Now that I said that... What's the chances of this leading to Warhorse autographing the cast and keeping everyone from signing aswell, changing his catchphrase to "Warhorse rules cast!"?
  21. I really hope he is not similar in heart and mind to his great grandfather, but him being at that club is a suspicious sign to me. As I said, hope that I'm wrong.
  22. Legend appears unlikeable here. I feel Bret wasn't comfortable with breaking kayfabe, he seemed to tiptoe around for a bit.
  23. He's the guy that played Dax in Guardians of the Galaxy.
  24. Is this true? If so, WWE is becoming more and more like DYING-DAYS-WCW (my cellphone keeps capslocking this, screw it). Is he going to feud with Steiner's kid?
